However, the conventional hand-held device does not have a recording or data transfer function, and thus cannot be used as well as other general devices. Further, it is conceivable to separate the measuring unit and the recording unit and to transmit and receive information by using a cable. However, it is unavoidable that this cable becomes an obstacle in operation. The present invention has been devised in view of the above drawbacks, and has as its technical object to provide an easy-to-use ophthalmic apparatus having functions equivalent to those of conventional general apparatuses such as recording.

The signal from the measuring system is processed by the measuring circuit 34 and then sent to the microcomputer 35. The microcomputer circuit 35 performs predetermined arithmetic processing to obtain data such as the corneal curvature radius. The measurement result is displayed on the display 4 via the display circuit 36. Further, regarding the transmission of the measurement data to the installation section 6, the measurement data from the microcomputer circuit 35 is transmitted.
The light is converted into an optical communication signal via the transmission circuit 37 and the light emitting element 30 and sent to the light receiving element 31 of the installation unit 6. The optical signal received by the light receiving element 31 is processed by the receiving circuit 38 and sent to the microcomputer circuit 39. The micro computer circuit 39 can send the measurement data to the printer 8 via the printer driving circuit 40 and print it. The data of the micro computer circuit 39 is sent from the communication circuit 41 and the communication connector 42 to a host computer (not shown). Reference numeral 43 denotes a detection switch for detecting that the handle portion 5 has been inserted into the installation portion 6. As the detection switch 43, various types other than an on / off switch can be used. Reference numeral 44 denotes an on / off detection circuit of the detection switch 43.

First, the inspector confirms that the rechargeable battery 23 is charged and measurable by a charge state detection circuit (not shown), and pulls the handle portion 5 out of the installation portion 6. The examiner holds the handle 5 and measures the eye to be examined by a predetermined operation.
The micro computer circuit 35 performs predetermined arithmetic processing to obtain data such as a corneal curvature radius, and displays the measurement result on the display 4.
Will be displayed. When the measurement is completed, the inspector inserts the handle part 5 into the installation part 6. When the detection switch 43 detects that the handle 5 has been inserted into the installation section 6, it sends a signal requesting the start of transmission to the light receiving element 32 via the light emitting element 33. When receiving the signal requesting the start of transmission, the microcomputer circuit 35 sends the measurement data to the installation unit 6. Although various types of hand-held devices such as eye refractive power will be developed in the future, the structure of the handle 5 and the communication
Code and print format (for example, communication code is ASC1
(A common code or a function to convert to a common code is provided), charging, printing, and communication with the host computer can be performed by one installation unit.

In the above example, the communication of the measurement data was started after it was confirmed that the handle section 5 was inserted into the installation section 6.
The communication may be started when the handle unit 5 receives a signal from the installation unit 6 in a state where the communication unit and the installation unit 6 are separated from each other. The reason why the signal requesting the start of transmission is sent from the installation unit 6 is to reduce the load on the secondary battery 23. The medium of the signal need not be light but may be a radio wave. Such modifications are included in the present invention to the extent that the technical ideas are the same.
