運転には強度上、安全上特に問題はないが、前頭1に対
して後方への強い衝撃力がかかると、前述のとおり前頭
1の車両台枠への結合強度は静荷重を前提として設計さ
れているので、上記のような衝撃力を受けると連結ボル
ト5が破断するおそれがある。このような事態は回避し
なければならないが、前頭1と車両台枠3の前部との連
結ボルト5による連結強度を上記のような衝撃にも十分
に耐え得るものにするとすれば、連結ボルト5の数を増
やすか、あるいは連結ボルト5を太くしなければならな
いが、連結ボルト5の数を増やし、あるいは連結ボルト
5を太くすると、作業工数の増加などによるコスト増が
避けられない。したがって、車両台枠3の前部や前頭1
の前頭構体の強度に影響を与えないで結合強度を大幅に
向上させられる簡便な連結構造の工夫が望まれる。
