よって生じる定着フィルム搬送力差が、定着フィルム内
周長と定着フィルムガイド周長差の程度によって定着フ
ィルム中心軸を定着フィルムガイド、フランジに対して
α°傾ける。加圧ローラーの幅方向に垂直な力(摩擦
力)Fによって定着フィルムはFsinα°の力で寄る
ことになる。この時定着フィルム端部の周上の1点
(A)は仮にフランジがなければ図4に示すように螺旋
状の軌跡を描くはずであるが、規制フランジによりあた
かも定着フィルムガイドに直交して回転している様に見
える。しかしながら定着フィルムに回転力及び寄り力を
与える定着ニップでは、先述の理由により定着フィルム
端部は寄り規制を受けない。従って回転走行する薄膜定
着フィルムの端部は図5に示すように、その軌跡を規制
面がなくなるニップ上流側から再規制される下流側にか
けて大きく変化させると、定着フィルム端部にダメージ
が発生する。
