Description

The present invention relates to a suspension device for liquid food packs.

Patent document 1 has shown the prior art example of the suspension apparatus for liquid food packs.
This suspension device is a stand that can be placed on the floor. This stand includes a main body portion extending in the vertical direction and a horizontal portion extending substantially horizontally from the upper portion of the main body portion, and a tip portion of the horizontal portion constitutes a hook portion bent upward.

The liquid food pack is composed of a pouch container, and the liquid food is filled in the liquid food pack. The liquid food pack is provided with a cylindrical spout. The internal space of the spout is in communication with the internal space of the pouch container, and the tip of the spout is closed.

In order to supply the liquid food in the liquid food pack to the patient (laying on the bed), first connect one end of the flexible supply tube to the patient (perforation formed in the mouth and abdomen, etc.) Further, the spout of the liquid food pack is cut, and the other end of the supply tube is connected to the open end (cut end) of the spout. And the attachment hole formed in the upper end part of a liquid food pack is latched to the hook part (horizontal part) of a stand.
Then, the liquid food in the liquid food pack flows downward in the supply tube due to gravity, and the liquid food is supplied to the patient from the one end (end on the patient side) of the supply tube.

In patent document 1, since the liquid food pack is directly hung on the upper part of the stand, the distance from the liquid food pack to the patient becomes long. Therefore, the total length of the supply tube connected to the liquid food pack is also a certain length. However, since the liquid food has a certain degree of viscosity, when the supply tube is long, the liquid food may not be smoothly supplied to the patient.

Furthermore, there are cases where the patient or caregiver or the like wants to draw (close) the liquid food pack suspended from the stand to the patient side. However, when the liquid food pack is pulled toward the patient, the force for pulling the liquid food pack directly reaches the stand, and the stand may fall down.

The present invention makes it possible to reduce the length of the supply tube for supplying the liquid food in the liquid food pack to the patient, and to move the liquid food pack suspended on the support member to the liquid food pack. It is an object of the present invention to provide a suspension device for a liquid food pack in which an excessive force is hardly exerted on the support member from the liquid food pack when force is applied.

A suspension device for a liquid food pack according to the present invention is a suspension device for a liquid food pack for suspending a liquid food pack from a support member, which is directly or indirectly attached to or detached from the support member. A flexible string having a supported portion that can be supported, an elastic string having a higher elastic modulus than that of the string, coupled to the string, and a flexible string attached to the string. A length adjuster that adjusts the length from the coupling portion with the elastic string to the supported portion, and the liquid food pack can be supported by being inserted into an attachment hole formed in the liquid food pack. And a pack support attached to the elastic string.

The pack support is an S-shaped hook, and the hook includes an elastic string attachment portion that can be inserted into and removed from an annular portion formed on the elastic string, and a hole that can be inserted into and removed from the attachment hole. And a locking portion for use.

An S-shaped string support that is attachable to and detachable from the supported part of the string, and the string support is a string attaching part that can be inserted into and removed from the supported part formed in an annular shape; A support member locking portion that can be locked to the support member.

The suspension device for a liquid food pack according to the present invention can suspend the liquid food pack from a support member via a string and an elastic string. Since it is possible to adjust the length from the connecting portion to the supported portion to the string, it is possible to shorten the length of the supply tube for supplying the patient with the liquid food in the liquid food pack. Therefore, the liquid food can be smoothly supplied to the patient side through the supply tube.
Furthermore, for example, even if a patient or caregiver applies a force to the liquid food pack to move the liquid food pack suspended on the support member, a part of this force is absorbed by the elastic string, so the liquid food pack It is difficult to apply excessive force to the support member. Therefore, for example, when the support member is a self-supporting stand, the possibility of the stand falling is small.

According to the second aspect of the present invention, the liquid food pack can be easily attached to and detached from the pack support.

According to the third aspect of the present invention, the attachment and detachment of the suspension device for the liquid food pack from the support member is facilitated.

A lower portion of a metal extension 21 which is a hollow cylindrical member extending in the vertical direction is connected to the main body 20. The lower portion of the extension portion 21 is slidably inserted into the main body portion 20 through the upper end opening of the main body portion 20. A screw hole (not shown) is formed as a through hole in the vicinity of the upper end of the main body portion 20, and a male screw portion 23 provided on the knob member 22 is screwed into the screw hole. After adjusting the slide position (vertical direction position) of the extension portion 21 with respect to the main body portion 20, the knob member 22 (male screw portion 23) is rotated with respect to the screw hole to extend the inner end portion of the male screw portion 23. By pressing against the outer peripheral surface of the portion 21, the slide position (vertical direction position) of the extension portion 21 with respect to the main body portion 20 can be fixed. Further, when the knob member 22 (male screw portion 23) is rotated with respect to the screw hole and the inner end portion of the male screw portion 23 is separated from the outer peripheral surface of the extension portion 21, the extension portion 21 becomes the main body portion 20. It becomes possible to slide up and down. A metal support 25 extending in the horizontal direction is fixed to the vicinity of the upper end of the extension 21. The support portion 25 includes a horizontal bar-shaped horizontal portion 26 that penetrates the extension portion 21, and a pair of hook portions 27 formed at both ends of the horizontal portion 26.

The string engaging member 30 includes, as large components, an attaching / detaching portion 31, a first fixing means 52, a rotation connecting portion 56, a second fixing means 61, and a hanging portion 67.
The detachable part 31 has a first sandwiching piece 32 and a second sandwiching piece 42 both made of metal.
The first sandwiching piece 32 includes a semi-cylindrical portion 33 whose inner surface curvature is substantially the same as that of the outer peripheral surface of the main body portion 20, and a rotation support cylinder 34 fixed to one end portion in the circumferential direction of the semi-cylindrical portion 33; And a connection support piece 35 protruding from the other end of the semi-cylindrical portion 33 in the circumferential direction. The vertical dimension of the rotation support cylinder 34 is about half that of the semi-cylindrical part 33, and the rotation support cylinder 34 is fixed to the upper half of the semi-cylindrical part 33. Two circular through holes 36 and 37 are formed in the connection support piece 35, and weld nuts 38 and 39 are respectively fixed at positions corresponding to the circular through holes 36 and 37 on the outer surface of the connection support piece 35. It is. Furthermore, a semi-cylindrical rotation stopper recess 40 whose own axis is parallel to the axis of the semi-cylindrical portion 33 is formed at the tip of the connection support piece 35.
The second sandwiching piece 42 includes a semi-cylindrical portion 43 symmetrical to the semi-cylindrical portion 33, a rotation support cylinder 44 fixed to one end portion in the circumferential direction of the semi-cylindrical portion 43, and a circumferential direction of the semi-cylindrical portion 43. And a fixing piece 45 projecting from the other end. The vertical dimension of the rotation support cylinder 44 is about half that of the semi-cylindrical portion 43, and the rotation support cylinder 44 is fixed to the lower half of the semi-cylindrical portion 43. A circular through hole 46 is formed in the fixed piece 45. The distal end portion of the fixed piece 45 is an abutting portion 47 that is inclined with respect to the other portions of the fixed piece 45.
After the rotation support cylinder 44 is positioned so as to be coaxial with the rotation support cylinder 34, a bolt 49 is inserted into the rotation support cylinder 34 and the rotation support cylinder 44 from above, and below the rotation support cylinder 44. The nut 50 is screwed (fixed) to the lower end of the projecting bolt 49 so that the semi-cylindrical portion 33 and the semi-cylindrical portion 43 are connected relative to each other around the bolt 49.
When the contact portion 47 of the second clamping piece 42 is brought into contact with the connection support piece 35, the first clamping piece 32 and the second clamping piece 42 are closed to each other, so that the semi-cylindrical portion 33 and the semi-cylindrical portion 43 are cylindrical. Configure. Further, the male screw portion 54 of the first fixing means 52 including the knob portion 53 and the male screw portion 54 that are integrated with each other is passed through the circular through hole 46 of the fixing piece 45 and the circular through hole 36 of the connection support piece 35. When the male screw portion 54 is screwed onto the weld nut 38 and the end of the knob portion 53 on the male screw portion 54 side is pressed against the outer surface of the fixed piece 45, the first holding piece 32 and the second holding piece 42 are obtained. The semi-cylindrical portion 33 and the semi-cylindrical portion 43 of each other constitute a cylindrical body (the contact portion 47 of the second clamping piece 42 contacts the connection support piece 35) and can be held in a closed state. On the other hand, when the male threaded portion 54 of the first fixing means 52 is pulled out from the circular through hole 46, the circular through hole 36, and the weld nut 38, the first sandwiching piece 32 and the second sandwiching piece 42 are moved to the semicylindrical portion 33 of each other. And the semi-cylindrical portion 43 can be opened.

The metal rotation connecting portion 56 is integrally provided with a cylindrical rotation support portion 57 and a rotation connection portion 58 made of a plate-like member protruding laterally from the rotation support portion 57. A circular through hole 59 is formed at the center of 58. The curvature of the outer peripheral surface of the rotation support portion 57 is substantially the same as the curvature of the inner peripheral surface of the rotation stopper recess 40.
The rotation coupling part 56 (rotation connection part 58) is attached to the detachable part 31 (first clamping piece 32) via the second fixing means 61 (and the washer 64) having substantially the same structure as the first fixing means 52. It is. Specifically, the male screw portion 63 (horizontal rotation shaft) of the second fixing means 61 is formed after the rotary connection portion 58 is opposed (approached) to the connection support piece 35 from the same side as the fixed piece 45. Are screwed into the weld nut 39 of the first clamping piece 32 while passing through the two washers 64, the circular through hole 59, and the circular through hole 37, and the end nut 65 is screwed onto the tip of the male screw part 63. By connecting (fixing), the rotation connecting portion 56 (rotation connecting portion 58) is attached to the detachable portion 31 (first clamping piece 32). In addition, unless the end nut 65 is removed from the distal end portion of the male screw portion 63, the second fixing means 61, the first holding piece 32, and the rotary connecting portion 56 are held in an integrated state.
The (half part) of the rotation support part 57 was fitted into the rotation stop recess 40 of the first clamping piece 32 (contacted with the inner surface of the rotation stop recess 40), and the rotation connection part 58 was brought into contact with the side surface of the connection support piece 35. In this state, when the end portion of the knob portion 62 of the second fixing means 61 on the male screw portion 63 side is brought into pressure contact with the outer surface of the rotary connecting portion 58, the rotary connecting portion 56 is brought into contact with the detachable portion 31 (first clamping piece 32). On the other hand, the rotation is impossible, and the rotation position of the rotation connecting portion 56 with respect to the attachment / detachment portion 31 (first clamping piece 32) is fixed at the positions shown in FIGS. 2, 3, 6, and 7. On the other hand, when the (half part) of the rotation support part 57 has escaped from the rotation stopper recess 40 of the first clamping piece 32 and the rotation connection part 58 is separated from the side surface of the connection support piece 35, the rotation support part 57 is attached and detached. It becomes possible to relatively rotate around the male screw portion 63 with respect to the portion 31 (first clamping piece 32). Therefore, it becomes possible to rotate the rotation connection part 56 to the position shown in FIG.1 and FIG.8 with respect to the attachment / detachment part 31 (1st clamping piece 32).

The hanging portion 67 is obtained by processing a metal bar, and a linear portion 68 that extends linearly, and a rotation center portion 69 that linearly extends from one end of the linear portion 68 in a direction orthogonal to the linear portion 68 ( A rotation axis in the vertical direction) and a spiral string engaging portion 71 projecting from the other end of the linear portion 68, and a male screw portion 70 is formed at the tip of the rotation center portion 69. It is. The total length of the straight line portion 68 is longer than half the horizontal portion 26 (and the total length of the horizontal portion 26) (see FIGS. 2 and 3). Further, an annular flange 72 is provided in a fixed state at the rotation center portion 69.
The suspension portion 67 is connected to the rotation support portion 57 of the rotation connecting portion 56 so as to be rotatable around the rotation center portion 69. Specifically, two washers 73 are attached to the rotation center portion 69, the rotation center portion 69 is inserted into the rotation support portion 57 from above, and 2 between the upper end surface of the rotation support portion 57 and the annular flange 72. The lower part of the rotation center part 69 is protruded below the rotation support part 57 with the washer 73 interposed therebetween. Then, after attaching four washers 74 to the lower portion of the rotation center portion 69, a nut 75 is screwed to the lower end portion of the rotation center portion 69, and four sheets are inserted between the lower end surface of the rotation support portion 57 and the nut 75. The washer 74 is sandwiched.

Then, the detailed structure of the suspending apparatus 80 (suspending apparatus for liquid food packs) is demonstrated.
The suspension device 80 includes a string 81, a length adjuster 84, an elastic string 94, a pack support 96, and a string support 97 as large components.
The string 81 (string member) has flexibility, and an end knob 82 having a diameter larger than that of the string 81 is fixed to one end thereof.
The length adjuster 84 slidably attached to the string 81 includes a resin cylinder 85, a resin piston 88, and a compression coil spring 92. One end of the cylindrical cylinder 85 is open, and a pair of long holes 86 are formed in the peripheral surface thereof. The piston 88 includes a slide portion 89 that is a cylindrical body having the same diameter as the inner diameter of the cylinder 85, a pressing portion 90 that is larger in diameter than the slide portion 89 (and the inner diameter of the cylinder 85) fixed to the end of the slide portion 89, It has. Furthermore, a string insertion hole 91 that penetrates the slide part 89 is formed in the slide part 89. The piston 88 slides relative to the cylinder 85 along the axis of the cylinder 85 between an unadjustable position shown in FIG. 4 and an adjustable position (not shown) where the pressing portion 90 is closer to the cylinder 85 than the unadjustable position. The sliding to the opposite side of the adjustable position from the non-adjustable position is restricted by a stopper (not shown). A compression coil spring 92 is disposed in the cylinder 85 in a state of being contracted from the free state. One end of the compression coil spring 92 is fixed to the bottom portion of the cylinder 85, and the other end of the compression coil spring 92 is fixed to the end surface of the slide portion 89. Therefore, when no external force other than the compression coil spring 92 is exerted on the piston 88, the piston 88 is positioned at an unadjustable position by the urging force of the compression coil spring 92.
As shown in the drawing, a part of the string 81 is overlapped with each other, and the overlapped part passes through the pair of long holes 86 of the cylinder 85 and the string insertion hole 91 of the slide part 89. A portion located on the opposite side of the end knob 82 from the length adjuster 84 forms an intermediate annular portion 81a. When the piston 88 of the length adjuster 84 is located at an unadjustable position due to the biasing force of the compression coil spring 92, the string 81 has one end face (end face on the pressing portion 90 side) of the pair of long holes 86 as shown in FIG. And the one end face (end face on the compression coil spring 92 side) of the string insertion hole 91, the length adjuster 84 cannot slide in the extension direction of the string 81 with respect to the string 81. On the other hand, when the piston 88 is slid to the adjustable position against the urging force of the compression coil spring 92, one end surface (end surface on the pressing portion 90 side) of the pair of long holes 86 with respect to the string 81 and one of the string insertion holes 91 are provided. Therefore, the length adjusting tool 84 can be slid with respect to the string 81. Therefore, it becomes possible to adjust the length from the intermediate | middle annular part 81a of the string 81 to the edge part annular part 81b (after-mentioned).

One end of an elastic string 94 (string member) having a larger elastic modulus than the string 81 and having flexibility is fixed to the end of the string 81 opposite to the end knob 82. More specifically, one end portion of the elastic cord 94 and another portion of the elastic cord 94 (a portion near the one end portion) are fixed by a metal fixing member 95, whereby the end portion of the elastic cord 94 is fixed. An annular portion 94a is formed. The end of the cord 81 on the elastic cord 94 side is inserted into the end annular portion 94a, and further, the end of the cord 81 on the elastic cord 94 side and another part of the cord 81 (the vicinity of the end of the cord 81). ) Is fixed by a fixing member 95, thereby forming an end annular portion 81 b in the string 81. Further, an end annular portion 94 a is formed on the other end of the elastic string 94 by using a fixing member 95.
The pack support 96 is an S-shaped hook, and is provided with elastic string attachment portions 96a and hole locking portions 96b at both ends.
The string support 97 has the same shape as the pack support 96, and includes a string attachment portion 97a and a stand side locking portion 97b (supporting member locking portion) at both ends.
The pack support 96 can be attached to and detached from the end portion of the elastic string 94 by passing (locking) the elastic string attaching portion 96a to the end annular portion 94a opposite to the string 81 of the elastic string 94. It is attached to.
On the other hand, the string support 97 is detachably attached to the string 81 by passing (locking) the string attaching part 97a through the intermediate annular part 81a of the string 81.

Then, the suspension point of the liquid food pack A using the liquid food pack suspension system 10 and the supply point to the patient of the liquid food filled in the liquid food pack A will be described.
First, the stand 15 placed on the floor surface in the room (hospital room) is moved to the side of the bed (see FIGS. 1 to 3) using the caster 19.
Next, the string engaging member 30 is attached to the main body 20 of the stand 15. In order to attach the string engaging member 30 to the stand 15, first, the male screw portion 54 of the first fixing means 52 is pulled out from the circular through hole 36, the circular through hole 46, and the weld nut 38, thereby The 2nd clamping piece 42 is made into the said open state. The first clamping piece 32 and the second clamping piece 42 are brought into the closed state while the inner surfaces of the semi-cylindrical portion 33 and the semi-cylindrical portion 43 are in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the main body portion 20 (for example, the vicinity of the upper end of the main body portion 20). The male screw portion 54 of the first fixing means 52 is passed through the circular through hole 46 of the fixing piece 45 and the circular through hole 36 of the connection support piece 35 and then screwed into the weld nut 38. By attaching the end portion on the screw portion 54 side to the outer surface of the fixing piece 45, the detachable portion 31 (the first holding piece 32 and the second holding piece 42) is attached to the main body portion 20 in a fixed state.
When the string engaging member 30 is attached to the stand 15, the rotation connecting portion 56 is attached to the attachment / detachment portion 31 (the first portion) at a position where the rotation support portion 57 (a half portion thereof) fits into the rotation stopping recess 40 of the first holding piece 32. It may be fixed with respect to the holding piece 32) (may be non-rotatable) (see FIG. 2).
Further, when the string engaging member 30 is attached to the stand 15, the rotation connecting portion 56 can rotate relative to the attachment / detachment portion 31 (first clamping piece 32) around the male screw portion 63. Also good. When the relative rotation is enabled, as shown in FIG. 1, the rotation coupling portion 56 and the suspension portion 67 are in a state in which the straight portion 68 faces in the vertical direction and the string engagement portion 71 is positioned below the rotation coupling portion 56 due to its own weight. become. In this case, after the string engaging member 30 is mounted on the stand 15, the linear portion 68 becomes horizontal and the rotation support portion 57 (a half portion thereof) engages with the rotation stop recess 40 of the first clamping piece 32. The end portion of the knob portion 62 of the second fixing means 61 (fixing means) on the male screw portion 63 side is rotated while the suspension 67 is rotated until the rotary connection portion 58 contacts the side surface of the connection support piece 35. The cord engaging member 30 is held in the state shown in FIG.
When the hanging portion 67 is in a horizontal state, the string engaging portion 71 of the hanging portion 67 is located almost immediately above the center portion in the width direction of the bed (see FIGS. 2 and 3).

Subsequently, by engaging the stand side locking portion 97 b of the string support 97 of the suspension device 80 with respect to one hook portion 27 of the stand 15, the string engaging member 30 is connected to the support portion 25 ( It is suspended from the hook part 27).
The liquid food pack A includes a pouch container A1, and the pouch container A1 is filled with liquid food (not shown). A cylindrical spout A2 projects from the pouch container A1. The internal space of the spout A2 communicates with the internal space of the pouch container A1, and the tip of the spout A2 is closed. Further, a mounting hole A3 is formed as a through hole in the corner of the pouch container A1. The liquid food pack A can be suspended from the pack support 96 by locking (inserting) the hole locking portion 96b of the pack support 96 in the mounting hole A3.
In order to supply the liquid food in the liquid food pack A to the patient lying in the center in the width direction of the bed, first, one end of a flexible supply tube 98 (see FIG. 4) is connected to the patient The spout A2 of the liquid food pack A is further cut, and the other end of the supply tube 98 is connected to the open end (cut end) of the spout A2. Thereafter, the attachment hole A3 of the liquid food pack A is locked to the hole locking portion 96b of the pack support 96 of the string engaging member 30.
Further, by locking either the cord 81 or the elastic cord 94 to the cord engaging portion 71 of the cord engaging member 30, the engaging portion of the elastic cord 94 (or the cord 81) with the cord engaging portion 71 is used. The portion located below is set to a substantially vertical state, and the liquid food pack A is positioned almost directly above the center portion (patient) in the width direction of the bed (see FIG. 3).

Then, the supply tube 98 connecting the liquid food pack A and the patient becomes substantially linear.
Further, since the liquid food pack A is suspended from the hook portion 27 of the stand 15 via the string engaging member 30, the supply tube 98 is shortened as compared with the case where the liquid food pack A is directly suspended from the hook portion 27. (Distance between the liquid food pack A and the patient is shortened). Furthermore, the string engaging member 30 can adjust the length from the intermediate annular portion 81a to the end annular portion 81b by using the length adjuster 84, so that the supply tube 98 can be adjusted as necessary. It is possible to shorten the length (the distance between the liquid food pack A and the patient can be further shortened).
Therefore, the liquid food in the liquid food pack A is smoothly supplied to the patient (when the supply tube 98 is curved or when the liquid food pack A is directly suspended from the hook portion 27). Is possible.

Further, for example, when a patient or a caregiver lying on the bed applies a force to the liquid food pack A by hand to move the liquid food pack A, a part of this force is elastic having a higher elastic modulus than the string 81. Since it is absorbed by the string 94, it is difficult to apply excessive force from the liquid food pack A to the stand 15. Therefore, in such a case, the possibility that the stand 15 will fall is small.

Since the string engaging member 30 is detachable from the stand 15, the string engaging member 30 can be detached from the stand 15 when the liquid food pack A does not need to be suspended from the stand 15. Therefore, even if the hanging part 67 is long, if the string engaging member 30 is removed from the stand 15, the string engaging member 30 (hanging part 67) does not interfere with the patient or caregiver.
Furthermore, when there is no need to suspend the liquid food pack A on the stand 15, it is possible to direct the suspended portion 67 (straight portion 68) directly below (up and down direction) while the string engaging member 30 is attached to the stand 15. is there. Therefore, even if the string engaging member 30 is left attached to the stand 15, the suspended portion 67 (straight line portion 68) is unlikely to be an obstacle for the patient or caregiver.
Further, since the string engaging member 30 is attached to and detached from the portion (main body portion 20) below the upper end portion (support portion 25) of the stand 15, the balance of the stand 15 is maintained even if the hanging portion 67 is lengthened. The risk of collapse and falling is small.

Further, when the caregiver's body or the like hits the hanging portion 67 when the hanging portion 67 (straight portion 68) of the string engaging member 30 attached to the stand 15 is in a horizontal state, the hanging portion 67 moves up and down with respect to the stand 15. Rotate around the direction of rotation axis (rotation center 69). Therefore, when the caregiver's body or the like hits the hanging portion 67, the force transmitted from the caregiver's body or the like to the hanging portion 67 is difficult to reach the stand 15, and therefore the possibility that the stand 15 will fall is small.

As mentioned above, although this invention was demonstrated using the said embodiment, this invention can be implemented, giving various deformation | transformation.
For example, the cord support 97 may be omitted from the cord engaging member 30 and the intermediate annular portion 81a of the cord 81 may be directly locked to the hook portion 27.
Alternatively, the pack support 96 may have a substantially J shape having a hole locking portion 96b at one end, and a portion other than the hole locking portion 96b of the pack support 96 may be connected to the elastic string 94. Similarly, the string support 97 may have a substantially J shape having a stand side locking portion 97b at one end, and a portion other than the stand side locking portion 97b of the string support 97 may be connected to the intermediate annular portion 81a. .
Further, by changing the curvatures of the semi-cylindrical part 33 and the semi-cylindrical part 43, the detachable part 31 (the semi-cylindrical part 33, the semi-cylindrical part 43) is located with respect to the part located below the support part 25 of the extension part 21. You may fix so that attachment or detachment is possible.
Further, when the rotation support portion 57 (half thereof) is fitted to the rotation stop recess 40 of the first clamping piece 32 with the string engaging member 30 attached to the stand 15, the linear portion 68 is the main body. The part 20 and the extension part 21 may be in a substantially orthogonal state (the “orthogonal state” in the scope of the utility model registration claim includes this “substantially orthogonal state”) instead of a completely orthogonal state.
Furthermore, the string engaging portion 71 of the hanging portion 67 does not have to be spiral. In other words, by engaging the string 81 or the elastic string 94, the portion of the string 81 or the elastic string 94 located on the side of the liquid food pack A from the engaging portion can be brought into a substantially vertical state. The shape may be different from the spiral shape.
