【実施例】以下、本発明の実施例をレーザープリンタに
適用した場合を例にとり図面を用いて説明する。図1に
おいて、1は現像剤収容容器を示し、容器1底部には撹
拌補助部材2と螺旋状の翼とを備えて成る2本のスクリ
ュー3、4が配置されている。スクリュー3、4の位置
関係は、水平方向に対してスクリュー4の軸心がスクリ
ュー3の軸心の上方約10°の位置にあり、スクリュー
4側からスクリュー3側へ現像剤をスムーズに流れ込ま
せる構成となっている。スクリュー3と現像スリーブ5
の間に設けられた遮蔽板7は、スクリュー3自体による
濃度むらの発生を防ぐものであり、この遮蔽板7がない
と、例えば全面を真っ黒に印刷した場合に、図7に示す
ように用紙20にスクリュー3の跡3′が現われてしま
い、印刷物上にスクリュー3のピッチ間隔pで縞模様を
形成してしまい、濃度むらをもった印刷物ができてしま
うこととなる。このような印刷物の発生を防ぐため遮蔽
板7は設けられている。なお、本実施例においては遮蔽
板7は、現像スリーブ5の磁極S1−S3間の磁束分布
がほぼ0になる位置に設けられている。現像スリーブ5
の表面は金属粒子融着、溝加工等の表面処理が施されて
いる。内部には複数の磁極を持つ永久磁石が設けられて
おり、矢印の方向に回転しながら現像剤6を吸着搬送
し、搬送方向に設けられた規制部材8によって現像スリ
ーブ5に吸着された現像剤6を一定厚さの層に規制し、
感光体9まで搬送する。感光体9上には、帯電器10の
コロナ放電により表面を均一に帯電された後、半導体レ
ーザ、LED等の光源11により潜像が形成される。感
光体9上の潜像部分に搬送された現像剤6はトナーのみ
感光体9に付着し、現像工程を終えた現像剤6は遮蔽板
7の先端部で現像スリーブ5から掻き落とされ、再び容
器1内で撹拌混合が行なわれる。規制部材8で規制され
た残りの現像剤は傾斜案内板12により予備撹拌部材1
3に運ばれる。トナーホッパ14は現像剤収容容器1上
部に設けられており、現像剤中のトナー濃度が一定レベ
ル以下になったとき、トナー補給ロール15を駆動し、
トナー16を予備撹拌部材13上に投入する。補給され
た新しいトナー16は、傾斜案内板12上をすべり落ち
て来る現像剤6と混合し、予備撹拌された後、スクリュ
ー3、4によりさらに強制的に撹拌混合が行なわれるた
め、より効果的な混合性能が得られる。傾斜案内板12
上をすべり落ちてくる現像剤6は、現像スリーブ5内の
磁極N2から受ける磁力の影響で、すべり落ちづらくな
る傾向があるため、傾斜案内板12は、アルミまたはス
テンレスのような非磁性体から構成することが好まし
く、傾斜案内板12上の磁力が50ガウス以下であると
き、傾斜案内板12上の現像剤は、N2の磁力の影響を
受けることなくすべり落ちることができ、その結果、補
給されたトナーが混入しやすくなり、予備撹拌も良好に
行なうことができる。17は仕切り板であり、スクリュ
ー3、4間に設けられており、撹拌混合が不十分なトナ
ーが現像スリーブ5に搬送されるのを防止するのに有効
である。実験によれば現像剤6の上層部5mm程度の深
さにまで仕切られていれば前記仕切板の効果を得ること

2をスクリューの軸心に対し現像剤の流れを加速させる
方向に角度θ(30°〜60°が好ましい)傾けて設け

器1底部において、異なる方向に回転しているため、図
4および図5に示すように、撹拌補助部材2を、スクリ
ューの1ピッチおきに、交互(千鳥配置)になるように
取り付けるのが好ましい。このようにすると撹拌補助部
材2が現像剤に及ぼす機械的負荷を軽減することができ
るとともに、スクリュー3、4の撹拌効果が及ぶ領域バ
ランスを良好にとることができる。なお、撹拌補助部材
2は、スクリュー1ピッチおきに取り付けたが、そのピ
ッチ数は限定されるものではない。また、図6に示すよ
うに、仕切板17には、現像剤の撹拌不均一を防ぐた
め、両端部に現像剤の通路として切り欠き部171、1
