Description of the Related Art Conventional rolls for such applications are: 1) A roll obtained by spray-coating a ceramic material onto a metal roll. 2) Asbestos roll. 3) Rolls of heat-resistant organic fibers such as aramid. Etc. are used. Metal rolls are generally made of stainless steel having high heat resistance, and Zr
A ceramic material such as O 2 , K 2 TiO 3 , or Al 2 O 3 may be spray-coated and used. Further, a felt or a cloth of heat-resistant organic fiber may be used by attaching and winding it around the roll surface. The asbestos roll is a disc roll formed by inserting and compressing a large number of annular discs formed mainly of asbestos into a metal shaft. The organic fiber roll is a disk roll formed by inserting and compressing a large number of annular disks formed of heat-resistant organic fibers such as aramid as a main material onto a metal shaft.

In addition, thermal spray coating of the ceramic material requires a large cost. Furthermore, the hardness of the surface is large, and the conveyed product may be damaged. 2) The asbestos roll has a soft surface, which causes severe wear and short life. In addition, recently, there has been a concern about the harmful effect of asbestos on the human body, and a transport roll that does not use asbestos has been desired. 3) The organic fiber roll is not sufficiently heat-resistant, and is greatly damaged, and needs to be frequently replaced after a short use. And the like.

Potassium sulfate can be impregnated in a short time, and complicated temperature control is not required. By impregnating the pores with potassium sulfate, the outer peripheral surface of the roll becomes extremely smooth and hard, and the heat resistance increases. If the grinding is performed after the impregnation, the smoothness of the roll surface is further improved. The roll thus obtained is smooth and hard, so that the surface of the material to be conveyed is not damaged and wear is extremely reduced.

In this case, if necessary, a reinforcing plate or a cooling plate made of a metal or nonmetal punched into an annular disk shape may be interposed between arbitrary layers of the annular disk. The amount of impregnation of potassium sulfate is preferably about 5% or more of the disk material in the surface portion of the outer peripheral portion of the roll in normal use. When the amount of potassium sulfate impregnated is 5% or less, the material is not sufficiently hard and smooth, and tends to be worn depending on the weight of the conveyed material. More preferably, when the content of potassium sulfate is 10% or more, sufficient smoothness and hardness can be obtained.

In order to impregnate the outer periphery of a disc roll mainly made of inorganic fibers except asbestos with potassium sulfate, it is proposed to perform this impregnation under reduced pressure or pressure. Since the disc roll of the present invention is mainly composed of inorganic fibers, it is usually 40
It contains pores of about 60% and has high porosity and high affinity for water as compared with asbestos rolls. Therefore, if a disc roll is immersed in an aqueous solution of potassium sulfate under reduced or pressurized conditions, complicated temperature control is required The impregnation can be easily performed without performing the above, and the impregnation amount increases. It is proposed to grind the outer periphery of a disc roll impregnated with potassium sulfate. Since about 40 to 60% of the pores of the disc roll of the present invention are impregnated with potassium sulfate, the disc roll is extremely smooth and hard. Therefore, if grinding is performed after impregnation, the smoothness of the roll outer peripheral surface is further improved. Since this roll is smooth and hard, it does not damage the surface of the material to be conveyed, and has the characteristics of extremely little wear.

った。The disc roll of the present invention can be used, for example, as a transport damping roll for a steel plate plating line. The transport damping roll has a long service life, but is also required to have a property of being hardly wet by the molten metal. If the molten metal is easily wetted, the molten metal is deposited on the surface of the transport damping roll, and the deposited metal causes scratches and uneven plating on the product. However, since the disk roll of the present invention is impregnated with potassium sulfate on its outer periphery, in addition to high surface lubricity, it has an excellent property that it is not easily wetted by molten metal, and the above-mentioned disadvantage is solved. . As a result, a plated steel sheet with very few scratches and uneven plating was obtained by using the disc roll of the present invention as a transport damping roll in a steel sheet plating line. The life of the roll was also sufficiently long.

In the figure, 5 is an impregnation tank filled with an aqueous solution of potassium sulfate 9, 6 is a lid, 7 is a valve, and 8 is a disc roll. The aqueous potassium sulfate solution 9 is, for example, 80
A saturated sodium sulfate aqueous solution at a temperature of not less than 0 ° C. The disc roll 8 is put into the impregnation tank 5 and immersed in the aqueous solution. Impregnate the outer periphery. Alternatively, potassium sulfate may be forcibly impregnated by applying pressure using a suitable pressure device. The impregnation time is within one hour, and the roll 8 may be rotated as needed during the impregnation. After the impregnation, the roll 8 is dried for 20 hours or more, and then generally subjected to a grinding process to improve the smoothness. Another 600
The heat treatment may be performed up to a temperature of about ° C.

By impregnating potassium sulphate into a disk roll formed by inserting and compressing a plurality of annular disk rolls made of inorganic fibers other than asbestos into a metal shaft, the roll surface has high smoothness and extremely abrasion. Fewer disc rolls can be provided. In addition, the disc roll of the present invention can be used not only for conveying flat glass or ribbon, but also as a conveyance damping roll for a steel plate plating line, and the outer periphery of the conveyance damping roll is impregnated with potassium sulfate. As a result, the coated steel sheet has the property of being hardly wet by the molten metal, so that a plated steel sheet free from scratches and uneven plating can be obtained. Further, according to the processing method of the present invention, potassium sulfate can be easily impregnated into the outer peripheral portion of the roll in a relatively short time without performing complicated temperature control unlike the conventional method.
