2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, the need for a large screen has been increased, and the demand for a projection television for obtaining a large screen by enlarging and projecting an image of a cathode ray tube (CRT) onto a screen using a projection lens has been rapidly increasing. Conventionally, the projection lens has been an all-glass lens, but recently, a hybrid lens combining a plastic lens and a glass lens has become mainstream. There are two types of plastic lens manufacturing methods, molding method and cutting method. Molding method is the mainstream from the viewpoint of cost. However, lenses that require high performance and high precision, such as high-definition television lenses, are cut method. It is made. The cut lens has been processed into a desired lens surface shape by a precision processing machine such as an ultra-precision CNC lathe, and then mirror-polished by a lens polishing machine or a skilled worker to finish.

[0005] The lens 7 is mounted on a holder 10 and a polishing liquid is supplied to the holder 10. When the holder rotating motor 11 is operated and the holder 10 and the lens 7 rotate, the polishing liquid flowing outward due to the centrifugal force hits the polishing liquid supply jig 12 and is blown toward the center of the lens 7, and the polishing cloth at the tip of the pad 6 14. The pad 6 vertically and oscillates along the unevenness of the lens surface shape by the slider 2 and the eccentric rotation shaft 5, and is always kept in close contact with the lens 7. When the pad shaft rotation motor 3 is operated, the pad 6 performs eccentric rotation by the eccentric rotation shaft 5 and performs radial linear motion from the center of the lens 7 to the periphery and from the periphery to the center by the head driving unit 1. The lens 7 is polished with a polishing cloth 14 and a polishing liquid several times to finish the lens 7 to a mirror surface.

However, in the above-described structure, the polishing liquid supplied to the pad by the polishing liquid supply jig flows down at the portion where the curvature of the lens shape is large, so that the polishing liquid is sufficiently supplied to the polishing pad. Is not supplied, and there is a problem that the surface is not polished and the cut is not completely removed and the surface does not have an appropriate surface roughness.

By providing a plurality of fins 8 on the outer periphery of the pad 6, the polishing liquid in the holder 10 is further agitated as the pad 6 rotates, and the polishing liquid is secured at the base of the fin on the outer periphery of the pad 6, so that the polishing cloth 14 is always polished. Even if the liquid is supplied and the lens shape has a large curvature, polishing with a well-stirred polishing liquid realizes the proper shape and surface roughness, and enables mirror polishing of the lens by automatic polishing. As described above, according to the present invention, the holder that rotates while holding the lens and the pad for polishing the lens are held in close contact with the lens surface, and the pad is given rotational movement and linear movement in the radial direction. Having a driving unit and a polishing liquid supply unit for supplying a polishing liquid to the pad, and by providing a plurality of fins radially on the outer periphery of the pad, the polishing liquid is always secured at the root of the fin on the outer periphery of the pad. Even if the polishing liquid is supplied to the polishing cloth and the lens shape has a large curvature, by polishing with a sufficiently stirred polishing liquid, the appropriate shape and surface roughness are realized, and the lens is automatically polished. Enables mirror finishing.
