BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION In a scooter type vehicle, an operation seat is provided above a pair of left and right rear frames extending diagonally upward and rearward from a footrest, and a fuel tank is accommodated in a side cover extending downward from a lower edge of the operation seat. There is something. Here, the fuel tank is normally mounted and held on a frame that holds an operation seat. When this fuel tank is formed by joining a pair of press-formed upper and lower sheet metal halves to each other, it is necessary to fix a flange formed at a joint between the two halves to a frame supporting the operation seat. In addition, it is necessary to set the joint between the two halves at a high position near the lower surface of the operation seat.

Here, the width of the lower half cannot be made larger than that of the joint part due to press molding. On the other hand, the side cover is inflated so as to widen left and right from the lower edge of the driving seat. For this reason, the gap between the fuel tank and the side cover becomes large, especially when the joining portion comes to a high position as described above, and this gap becomes even larger, so that the space in the side cover cannot be sufficiently utilized, and the fuel tank However, there is a problem that the capacity cannot be increased.

Numeral 40 denotes a luggage storage box, which is made of a material reinforced with synthetic resin such as polypropylene by glass fiber so as to have sufficient strength. The storage box 40 is formed so that the helmet 42 can be stored from above with the top part down, and a storage part 44 for tools and the like is integrally formed on the inside of the bottom, and a battery storage part 46 is integrally formed on the outside of the bottom. (FIG. 2). The storage box 40 is rigidly fixed to the vehicle body frame 10 at the bottom near the front and the opening edge at the rear. Ie storage box 40
Is in contact with a cross member 48 spanned between the left and right rear frames 16 and is screwed at two places from the inside of the storage box 40 to the left and right. A substantially horizontal seat load receiving portion 50 is integrally formed at a rear portion of the storage box 40, and a substantially gate-shaped tower 52 is welded to the rear frame 16 below the load receiving portion 50, as viewed from the rear. Reference numeral 58 denotes a fuel tank. The tank 58 is formed by seam welding a pair of front and rear halves made of a sheet metal press, and its flange-like joining surface 60 is substantially perpendicular to the rear frame 16 as shown in FIG. It is inclined diagonally. For this reason, each half can greatly swell in the direction of the press die removal within the range of the shape of the joint portion. For example, as shown in FIG. By bulging along the arc-shaped rear wall in plan view, the capacity can be increased.
In particular, by setting the direction of the press die to be substantially parallel to the rear frame 16, the lower part of the bulging portion can be formed so as to be substantially along the rear frame 16, so that the capacity of the bulging portion in front of the tank 58 is maximized. It is possible to increase to. The upper part of the joint surface 60 is fixed to a mounting part 62 formed on the tower 52 with two bolts, and the lower part of the joint surface 60 is fixed to the cross member 64 connecting the rear ends of the left and right rear frames 16 with two left and right bolts. Fixed. (See FIG. 4). In this way, the flange-shaped joint surface 60 is positioned substantially orthogonal to the rear frame 16 and positioned behind the tower 52 so as not to interfere with the tower 52, so that the joint surface 60 protrudes as compared with the case where the joint surface 60 is passed through the tower 52. Department of Tower
The fuel tank capacity can be further increased by being close to the inner side surface of the fuel tank 52.

Reference numeral 70 denotes a side cover extending downward from a lower edge of the driving seat 84 described later. The side cover 70 is integrally formed of synthetic resin so as to surround the periphery of the storage box 40.
While continuing smoothly to 18, the rear portion is a flat portion 72 which is substantially horizontal below the front portion of the loading platform 68, and is largely open rearward. The fuel supply port 58a of the fuel tank 58 is viewed from the opening provided in the flat portion 72 of the side cover 70 to the lower front of the loading portion of the loading platform 68 (that is, behind the rising grip portion 68c). A one-push mounting type fuel cap 74 is attached. A cylindrical oil-resistant seal member 76 is mounted around the fuel filler port 58a so as to be sandwiched between the flat portion 72 and the tank 58 (FIG. 2). (Effect of the Invention) As described above, according to the present invention, a pair of left and right rear frames are extended obliquely upward and rearward from the footrest so as to reach the lower part of the fuel tank through the lower side of the storage box. While providing a substantially gate-shaped tower standing up from the rear frame and receiving the rear load of the driving seat, the fuel tank is formed by joining a pair of pressed front and rear halves to each other to form a flange shape of both halves. Since the joint surface of the above is arranged so as to extend in the vertical direction and the width direction of the vehicle body on the other side from the tower, and the former half has entered the tower,
Each half can be greatly expanded in the pressing direction, that is, back and forth within the range of the shape of the joint. Therefore, the front half can be deeply penetrated into the tower and greatly expanded up to the inner surface of the tower and the rear wall of the storage box, so that the capacity of the fuel tank can be increased. In addition, the shape of the joint can be adjusted to the shape of the side cover, and the rear frame is located below the fuel tank, so the lower half of the fuel tank can be shaped into the side cover without interfering with the rear frame. It is possible to increase the left-right width along the side, and it is possible to effectively utilize the space in the side cover to increase the fuel tank capacity.
