【発明の解決しようとする課題】いずれの材料のセグメ
ントも一長一短があるが、木材のセグメントは、軽量で
扱い易く人力で施工出来るメリットがある反面、縦軸方
向の座屈に弱く、推力をかけねばならない工法には応用
し難い。鋳鉄性のセグメントは、製作コストがかかり、
重量も重く取扱に重機を要し施工が困難である。鋼性セ
グメントは土圧に対する剛性も強く、断面も小さくて済
むが縦軸方向の変形に弱いという欠点がある。又コンク
リートのセグメントは製作に際して湾曲した精度の高い
型枠を組立て、内部に鉄筋を組み込みコンクリートを打
設する過程を経ねばならず、型枠の組立、取り外しに膨
大な労力を要した。その上重量が重く取扱が厄介と言う
欠点があった。しかし近年、丸太をのこぎりでひき割り
何枚か重ねて熱を加え乾燥させ、更にひき割り接着剤を
塗布して重ね、圧縮し固化させた集成材が脚光を浴びて
いる。集成材は普通の木材と比重は同じ位で、強度は木
材よりも、遥かに高く、且つ自由な成形が出来る特徴が
ある。そこで木材の軽量を生かして更に耐力は木材よ
り、抜群に高い集成材でセグメントを構成するものが発
明されている。更にこれを改良して強度を高めるため、
集成材の中に鉄骨梁を埋設して軽量でありながら一層強
度の高いセグメントを提供する。

該フランジにボルト貫通用の穴を窄開し背後に集成材を
切り欠く部分を設け、ボルトによってセグメントを接合
しリング状に形成する。なお軸方向に接合しようとする
場合は、セグメントに軸方向の長尺ボルト穴を窄開し
て、長尺ボルトで締結する。又円周方向の接合には、ボ
ルトによらずリングを一周するワイヤで、セグメントを
リング状に一体にすることも可能である。
