2. Description of the Related Art The surface of a rolling roll for rolling a material to be rolled such as a steel material always wears. In this case, the surface of the rolling roll is in a range equal to the width of the material to be rolled, that is, the threaded portion is worn, and the non-threaded portions on both sides of the threaded portion are not worn. In order to eliminate such a step due to the wear between the passing portion and the non-passing portion, and to repair the damage of the surface of the rolling roll due to the abrasion, and to always maintain a smooth roll surface, the rolling So-called online roll grinding for performing grinding is performed.

FIG. 2 shows an example of online roll grinding. Eight sets of grindstones 3 are installed in the case 4 at intervals P, and the entire case 4 is moved in the axial direction of the rolling roll 1 by a moving device (not shown) to grind the surface over the entire width of the rolling roll 1. .

FIG. 3 shows a grinding mechanism. The grindstone 3 is pressed by a hydraulic cylinder 5 provided in a case 4 against a rolling roll 1 to be ground with a predetermined pressure, and can perform grinding. The case 4 is supported by a screw jack 6, and the screw jack 6 is operated by a motor 7, so that the height of the grindstone 3 can be arbitrarily adjusted.

[0005] The online roll grinding includes a step grinding in which only the step portion of the non-threaded portion is ground and a full surface grinding in which the entire width of the rolling roll 1 including the step portion is ground. Usually, the step portion is first ground to the same level as the plate portion, and thereafter, the entire width of the rolling roll 1 is ground and finished. However, in some cases, for example, when the damage to the step portion or the surface of the rolling roll 1 is light, the entire surface may be immediately ground.

As described above, the surface of the rolling roll 1 wears only at the threaded portion, but the form of wear corresponds to both ends of the material S to be rolled rather than the central portion of the threaded portion. The parts are locally severely worn.

Conventionally, when grinding the surface of the rolling roll 1 in the form of wear as shown in the figure, the entire surface of the rolling roll 1 is ground with the same pressing pressure over the entire width. Therefore, in the case where the width of the local wear is narrow as shown in FIG. 4, as shown by the dotted line, the central portion of the step portion 1a and the center portion of the passing plate portion 1b mainly leave the local wear portion (local wear portion 1c). After being ground, the entire width of the rolling roll 1 is substantially averaged and finished smoothly. However, in a case where the width of the local wear is large as shown in FIG. 5, not only the central portion of the step portion 1a and the center portion of the passing plate portion 1b, but also the local wear portion 1c is ground in the same manner. As shown by the dotted line, there was a problem that large irregularities remained on the surface.

According to the present invention, there is provided a method for grinding a rolling roll according to the present invention. In the method of grinding a rolling roll that performs full-surface grinding over the entire width of the rolling roll, the pressing pressure of the grinding stone against the rolling roll is released while the grinding wheel passes through the boundary between the passing portion and the non-passing portion. It is characterized by doing so.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS One embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 1 is an explanatory view of a method for grinding a rolling roll according to one embodiment of the present invention. Note that the same members as those shown in FIGS. 2 to 5 are denoted by the same reference numerals, and redundant description will be omitted. Further, the configuration, operation, grinding procedure, and the like of the roll grinding apparatus to which the present embodiment is applied are the same as those in the related art, and thus, duplicate description will be omitted.

FIG. 1 shows a non-threaded portion, that is, a stepped portion 1a on both sides of a rolled roll 1 that is not worn and a threaded portion 1b that is worn.
This shows a situation where the entire surface is ground using the grindstone 3. On the surface of the rolling roll 1, a considerably large local wear portion 1c is formed at both ends of the threaded portion 1b.

As shown in FIG. 1, the surface of the rolling roll 1 has a section (I) on the left step portion 1a, a section (II) on the left local wear section 1c, and a section (2) on the central portion of the passing plate section 1b. I
II), the right local wear portion 1c is divided into a section (IV), and the right stepped section 1a is divided into a section (V), and five sections.

When the entire surface of the rolling roll 1 is ground, the grinding method of the present embodiment employs a rolling method when the grinding wheel 3 passes through the sections (I), (III) and (V). The pressing pressure of the grindstone 3 against the roll 1 is turned ON (that is, grinding is performed), and the grindstone 3 is moved in the section (II) and the section (I).
When passing through V), the pressing pressure of the grindstone 3 is turned off (that is, the grinding is stopped).

In this manner, the left and right step portions 1a and the passing plate portion 1b, which are indicated by dotted lines in the figure, are mainly ground, and the left and right local wear portions 1c are not ground. For this reason, the surface of the mill roll 1 after grinding is finished to a smooth surface having a substantially uniform overall width as shown by a solid line in the figure.

In this embodiment, the case where one set of grindstones 3 is used has been shown. However, the case where a plurality of grindstones are used is of course also effective, and the sections (II) and (IV) are used in the same manner as described above. By applying the method of the present invention in which the pressing pressure of the corresponding grindstone is turned off only during the passage through the roll, the surface of the rolling roll 1 can be similarly finished to a substantially uniform and gentle surface over the entire width. Further, the size of the section (II) and the section (IV) may be appropriately set according to the degree of local wear.

According to the method for grinding a roll of the present invention, when the worn roll is entirely ground over its entire width, the grinding wheel is rolled while passing through the boundary between the passing portion and the non-passing portion. Since the pressing pressure of the grindstone against the roll is released, the boundary is not ground. As a result, the rolling roll can be ground substantially uniformly and gently over the entire width irrespective of the wear width at the boundary between the threaded portion and the non-threaded portion.
