Gripper transport belts 10 and each recording paper transport belt 11a to
11c rotates at the same speed. The speed of the linearly moving portion of each belt is determined by the pitch circle radius and the rotation speed of each pulley.
The speeds of 0, 10 and each of the recording paper transport belts 11a to 11c can be easily matched by rotating the drive shaft of each pulley at a constant speed ratio according to the number of teeth formed on the outer periphery of each pulley. . The upper surface of each of the recording paper transport belts 11a to 11c is adjusted to a height at which the rear end of the recording paper gripped by the gripper 18 is supported so as not to hang down. Each recording paper transport belt 11a to 11c rotates 1.5 times for one pitch of the transport cycle of the gripper 18, that is, until the next gripper 18 rotates, and the gripper 18 becomes a concave portion of each of the recording paper transport belts 11a to 11c. 20
The gripper 18 and the recording paper transport belts 11a to 11c do not interfere with each other.

In the rear part of the recording paper, there is a portion that covers the concave portion 20 of each of the recording paper transport belts 11a to 11c. However, since the width and length of the concave portion 20 are sufficiently short, and the recording paper has a so-called "strain", The recording paper does not bend at this portion.

In each of the transfer units 5a to 5d, there is no support for the recording paper from below, and a high-quality image without transfer unevenness is obtained because the transfer electric field is uniformly applied. The portions of the transfer papers 5a to 5d that are not supported from below by the recording paper transport belts 11a to 11c are sufficiently short. Moreover, since the recording paper is present, and particularly a transfer electric field is applied, the recording paper is applied to each photosensitive drum 1a to 1d. It is electrostatically attracted and does not hang down.
