二サイクルエンジンは、エンジンの排気孔に連結した
排気管の後端をマフラに連結し、排気ガスの騒音をマフ
ラで消音して放出するようにしている。又、二サイクル
エンジンは、排気と掃気が同時に行われ、爆発した圧力
の高い排気ガスが排気孔に流れた後、シリンダー内に残
った排気ガスを掃気の注入によって排気孔に押出しなが
ら、掃気をシリンダー内に充填する。このとき、掃気の
一部が排気と共に排気孔に流れる吹抜けが生じる。この
吹抜けを少なくするため、排気管長とマフラ前部の第一
膨脹室の容積などで、間欠的に排気される排気脈動波を
有効に利用してその反射波で、排気孔が閉じる直前に排
気孔付近を正圧にすることによって、吹抜けガスをシリ
ンダー内に押戻し、掃気の充填効率を高めて、出力増加
を図ることが行われている。しかし、排気脈動波は、回
転早さの変化と共に周波数が変化するので、回転全域を
高出力化することができず、出力の谷ができる部分が生
じる。これを防ぐため一般的に第6図に示すように、マ
フラ筒A前部の第一膨脹室B内に、後端にディフューザ
ーパイプCを溶着した連結管Dを挿入して溶着し、連結
管Dに干渉用の調整穴Eを穿設し、連結管Dの先端に、
排気管Fの後端を連結して締着するようにしている。そ
して、排気管FからディフューザーパイプCまでの長さ
と第一膨脹室Bの容積を加減することで、高出力を得た
い回転域で排気脈動波が有効に利用できるようにしてお
り、調整穴Eによる干渉で、出力の谷ができる部分を補
正するようにしている。例えば、実開昭57-204421号公
報参照。ところで、二サイクルエンジンは、燃料に潤滑
オイルを混入して潤滑するようにしており、排気ガス中
に潤滑オイルが含まれており、これがタール状になって
流れ、更に排気ガスの熱でカーボン状に固化して付着す
る。特に、小さい調整穴Eがカーボンが付着して塞が
り、機能しなくなる不都合がある。適宜排気管Fを外し
て掃除を行うが、調整穴Eが、連結管Dの入口から深
