っていること、及び樹脂管の方が外径が小さいというこ
とが異なる点である。以上のことから考えられること
は、樹脂被覆鋼管用の継手と、樹脂管用の継手とは、従
来から使用してきた締結機構の部品を交換すれば、他の
継手本体と押輪は部品の共通化を計ることができるとい
うことである。このことは製造者側にとっても使用者側
にとっても製造、部品管理の面で又コスト面で有益であ
る。

図1は樹脂管20(ポリエチレン管)を接続した後の部分
断面図を示すもので、管継手は、内面にめねじを有し、
外周に樹脂被覆層1を有する継手本体2と、同じく外面
におねじと樹脂被覆層3を有する押輪4と、パッキン
5、リテーナ6、食込みリング7を有することに変りが
ないが、押輪4は端部および端部側内面にまで樹脂被覆
層3で被覆してあり、更に被覆層3の内面は端部側に向
って拡大するテーパ内面に形成してある。又食込みリン
グ10は円周上の一部が切欠かれた環状で内周側はのこぎ
り山状の食込み突起を有する硬質プラスチック製のリン
グからなる。そして押輪4の樹脂被覆層の外面には突起
31を設けて、この突起31に嵌着する断面逆Yの字形のゴ
ムリング14を装着して継手本体2側の端部に延出した樹
脂被覆層1の内面に周接して継手本体2と押輪4側の外
面シールを行なっている。そして押輪4内面のテーパ部
11と食込みリング10との間には断面コの字形をした環状
の薄肉樹脂ケース16内に柔軟性のブチルゴム17を充填し
たシール材15が装着されている。このシール材15はケー
ス断面コの字形の開放側を押輪4の端部側に向けて装着
する。そして、この装着にあたってはプラスチック製で
断面L字形の環状部材13を樹脂管の外面に装着した上で
介在して行う。例えばこの場合、樹脂管は樹脂被覆鋼管
より径で3mm程度小径となるので約1.5 mmの厚みのL字
形としている。そうして押輪4の樹脂被覆層3の外面を
レンチ等で締付けることにより、シール材15のケース16
は押輪のテーパ部11と環状部材13のL字部分とによって
圧縮され、ケース16内のブチルゴム17は押輪の内面端部
側に向って押し出され、樹脂管20の外面と押輪4の樹脂
被覆層3との間を密封充満する。

ース内にブチルゴムを充填したシール部材を該ケースの
開放側を押輪の端部側に向けて内装してなる管継手にお
いて、合成樹脂管を接続する場合には、該合成樹脂管の
外面と前記シール部材との間に断面略L字形で、樹脂被
覆鋼管の外径と略同一になるような厚みを有する環状部
材を介在させることを特徴とする管継手。
