<Outline of the Invention> According to the present invention, each horizontal scanning signal forming a left-eye video signal and a right-eye video signal obtained by stereoscopically capturing an image of a body with a pair of left and right imaging means is deleted every other horizontal scanning. Then, the left-eye and right-eye video signals that have been cut in half are time-divided into the first half and the second half of one field scan and recorded on a video recording medium such as a VTR or a video disc.

<Prior Art> As a general method for picking up and recording an image pickup object and reproducing a stereoscopic image on a video display device, a left eye image obtained by picking up the image pickup element with a pair of left and right image pickup means is used. As shown in FIG. 7, the video signal and the video signal for the right eye are alternately time-divisionally recorded on a video recording medium such as a VTR or a video disk for each field scanning and recorded as a stereoscopic video signal. When the recorded video signal is reproduced on the video display device, an optical shutter which alternately opens and closes in synchronization with the field scanning cycle of the left eye and the right eye video signal in front of the left eye and the right eye. You can see it as a stereoscopic image by placing.

However, in imaging, recording, and reproducing in the above-mentioned method in the NTSC system, for example, since the field scanning frequency is 60 Hz, only 30 images / second are given to one eye, resulting in flicker. It is a cause of eye fatigue.

The second method is the same as the above-mentioned conventional method for capturing and recording a stereoscopic image (NTSC method, field frequency 60 Hz), and doubling the field scanning frequency for reproduction, for the left and right eyes. A field memory is provided in each of the video signal circuits to interpolate the increased field scanning period as shown in FIG. 9 by the left and right front field scanning signals.

As a matter of course, the opening / closing cycle of the optical shutter which is alternately opened / closed in synchronization with the field scanning cycle is twice as long as that of the conventional method before the flicker countermeasure is taken in both the first and second methods.

<Problems to be Solved by the Invention> In the above-mentioned first method, in order to make the field scanning frequency in image pickup, recording, and reproduction double that of the conventional method before the flicker countermeasure, an image pickup system, a recording system, Further, the reproducing system requires a special device different from the normal device in which the field scanning frequency is doubled, and the countermeasure against flicker by this method is very expensive.

In the second method, only a special device is used for the reproduction system, but as shown in FIG. 9, in field scanning units, left 1 → right 2 → left 1 → right 2 → left 3 → right 4 Since the images are reproduced in this order, the time history of the reproduced video goes backward and becomes discontinuous, and when an image pickup object having a fast motion is picked up and reproduced, a stereoscopic image having an unnatural motion is obtained. There was a drawback that it would end up.

The image pickup body 9 is picked up by the left-eye image pickup unit 3 and the right-eye image pickup unit 4 via the left lens 1 and the right lens 2, and converted into electrical signals as a left-eye image signal L and a right-eye image signal R. To be converted. The left-eye L and right-eye image signals R output from the left-eye 3 and right-eye imaging unit 4 are sampling signals S L and S R from the line conversion unit 5 as shown in FIG. In the field scanning synchronized with, the interlaced field scanning is performed in the order of odd number → even number → odd number. The signals L and R are input to the line conversion unit 5, and as shown in FIG. 3, the horizontal scanning signals of both the left-eye L and right-eye video signals R are deleted every other horizontal scanning, and reduced to half. The left-eye image signal R'and the right-eye image signal R'compressed are half-compressed in units of field scanning as shown in FIG. 4, and in the present embodiment, the left-eye image L'and the latter half of the field scanning period. In order to reproduce the stereoscopic video signal L '/ R' reduced to half and recorded in the video recording section 8, a line memory is used to double the field scanning frequency as shown in FIG. The preceding horizontal scanning signal is interpolated during the missing horizontal scanning period, and the obtained stereoscopic video signal is reproduced on a video display device such as a television receiver.

<Effects of the Invention> In the stereoscopic image capturing / recording apparatus of the present invention, the captured stereoscopic image signal is deleted every other horizontal scanning, and both time-compressed left and right eye image signals are scanned by one field scanning. By doing so, it is possible to record a stereoscopic video signal as a countermeasure against flicker with a video recording device such as a VTR or a video disk having a general field scanning frequency with a very simple structure.

Also, the video signal to be reproduced is the left 1 as shown in FIG.
Since the field scanning is performed in the order of → right 1 → left 2 → right 2 → left 3 ..., it is possible to obtain a stereoscopic image in which flicker of natural movement is suppressed, which does not go backward with time.
