Description

To provide a seat belt that automatically unbuckles when a occupant tries to get out of a car seat without manual action.

Conventionally, the focus of seat belts has been on prevention and ingenuity to prevent seat belts from coming undone easily even in the event of an impact such as a collision. Various small items to reduce the hassle and difficulty of fastening are also sold. However, there is an increasing number of middle-aged and elderly people who forget that they are fastening their seat belts when getting out of a car, skip the procedure to unlock the buckle, and try to get out carelessly, hurting their shoulders, necks, and ribs, and forcing them to go to the hospital multiple times. These accidents are attracting attention as a new type of everyday minor accident in an aging society, not life-threatening but quite troublesome for middle-aged and elderly people, and have long-lasting effects that cannot be ignored.
There is also known a seat belt device that aims to eliminate the need for manual unlocking of the buckle (see Patent Document 1).
An automatic release mechanism for a buckle device is also known, which can release the lock without the need to operate a release button (see Patent Document 2).
There is also known an automatically detachable seat belt that critically examines the problems common to the above-mentioned prior art and proposes a solution from a unique perspective (see Patent Document 3).

With the arrival of a full-fledged aging society, cars have become a necessity for the elderly to travel, go to the hospital, go shopping, etc., and the aging of drivers is inevitable. Hidden in the shadow of major accident news such as fatal sudden acceleration accidents caused by pedal misapplication, seemingly "minor" physical injury accidents caused by "forgetting to undo seat belts" are steadily increasing in frequency around us on a daily basis, and are promoting the chronicity of continuous physical pain that follows. Pioneer products for preventive goods that can deal with the new phenomenon of "car-related accidents" in an aging society are eagerly awaited.
Traditionally, technological development related to automatic seat belt release has been aimed primarily at improving operational efficiency.
The prior art shown in Patent Documents 1 and 2 was subjected to a detailed critical examination in Patent Document 3, which is assigned to the same applicant as the present application, and as a result, "a seat belt equipped with a simple, clear, and easy-to-use locking/unlocking mechanism between the tongue and the buckle is provided by utilizing the characteristics of a solenoid for the lock itself, without requiring any circuit mechanisms or switch mechanisms that would be complicated and require additional difficulty and cost."
In this application, the applicant hereof is responsible for identifying further problems with the prior art shown in the above-mentioned Patent Document 3, and presenting means for solving the problems.
The main problem was that the locking mechanism of the seat belt kept generating heat while the vehicle was in motion. To deal with the danger of the accumulated heat, the mechanism was either covered with a highly heat-resistant material (this was possible but would be expensive), or the heat generation and accumulation itself in the locked state was eliminated or minimized (made harmless).
The present application took up the latter task and worked hard to find a solution.
In order to provide a more practical path to implementation, the present invention provides a seat belt equipped with a more effective automatic release means for solenoid-based seat belt lock-unlock.

This seat belt is equipped with a buckle body formed by integrally incorporating a bidirectional retaining solenoid having a movable iron core, or plunger, which moves in opposite directions when energized and de-energized, into a buckle mechanism. The buckle body will be described below in the case where the seat belt is installed on the right side of the driver's seat, with the solenoid part on the door side and the buckle mechanism part on the body side.
The L-shaped outer box-like buckle case has a buckle mechanism part on one vertical side of the L shape inside and a solenoid part on one horizontal side, which are integrally installed, and both the vertical and horizontal parts share the bottom surface of the case.
The left end of the buckle case is slightly thicker and forms the buckle base wall, and the right end forms the solenoid base wall. The space surrounded by the buckle base wall, the mechanism partition wall that faces it and forms the outer shell of the buckle mechanism while separating it from the solenoid, the closed case bottom, and the lock mechanism chamber ceiling surface that has a tongue insertion hole in the center for inserting the tongue plate forms the lock mechanism chamber where the mechanism that locks and unlocks the tongue plate is installed.
The structures of the solenoid section and the buckle mechanism section inside the buckle case and the relationship between them will be described below.
In the solenoid section, the movable iron core plunger base shaft section that passes horizontally through the center is surrounded by three sections: a section in the direction of displacement when current is applied, a permanent magnet section, and a section in the direction of displacement when current is not applied, which are arranged in that order from the buckle mechanism section side. The plunger base shaft section penetrates the mechanism partition wall to the left end side and extends into the buckle mechanism section, and at its left end, it is continuously and integrally connected to the plunger lock mechanism pieces that are erected vertically inside the lock mechanism compartment, in a manner that is perpendicular to them.
The plunger lock mechanism piece has a side that is joined to the plunger base shaft and rises perpendicularly, occupying most of the height space of the lock mechanism housing to form a plunger tongue receiving portion, and the opposite side facing the buckle base wall is about half that height and twice as thick as the upper part, and the upper end surface of that thickness is recessed in a groove shape to form a locking groove with a width that can receive the tip of the tongue inserted from above, i.e., the front end area of the locking hole in the tongue plate, and the edge of the locking groove facing the buckle base wall functions as an unlocking piece. At a height position that just hits the lower end (front end) of the locking hole in the tongue plate when locked, a locking claw is provided that protrudes from the buckle base wall side and slopes downward toward the front.
Thus, when the plunger lock mechanism piece is in a locked state, the unlocking piece side comes into close contact with the buckle base wall, creating a clearance between it and the mechanism partition wall, and when it is unlocked, it displaces to a position where it comes into close contact with the mechanism partition wall, creating a clearance between it and the buckle base wall. The former displacement corresponds to when electricity is applied, and the latter displacement corresponds to when electricity is not applied. In this way, the troublesome problem of continuous high heat generation while driving is eliminated, and the automatic lock/unlock function is smoothly performed.
The fully automatic release seat belt is characterized by comprising the above-described buckle body.

In the current situation, cars have become a necessity for the elderly, and the invention disclosed in Patent Document 3 was proposed in order to prevent the increase in accidents caused by forgetting to unbuckle seat belts when getting out of a car, which are "small but can lead to serious chronic diseases." If put into practice, it would undoubtedly have contributed to society, but in the course of realistic consideration of putting it into practice, it became clear that there was still room for improvement, which led to the filing of this application by the same applicant.
According to the present application, the improvement on the tongue plate as in Patent Document 3 is no longer necessary, and the conventional tongue plate can be used as is.
Of course, there is no need for a complicated and impractical release mechanism like those in Patent Document 1 or Patent Document 2. The single biggest concern in Patent Document 3, "continuous locked state while driving," is directly identified as being caused by the structure maintained by the current flowing state of the solenoid, and the problem of high heat generation caused by continuous current flowing for a long time is solved. The electromagnetic force of the solenoid acts in one direction or the other only when the engine switch of the car is touched to ON (lock direction) or OFF (release direction), and the lock state is maintained during that time by the permanent magnet, eliminating the very cause of high heat generation.
This will significantly increase the feasibility of implementation and certainly reduce the number of cases where elderly people forget to remove the tongue plate when getting off the vehicle and say, "Ouch, ouch!" There will also be no need to worry about "when the tongue plate is pulled out, accidentally touching it with your hand or something and feeling it's hot," as was feared in the "implementation" of the invention in Patent Document 3. Commercial drivers will also be able to feel the definite efficiency improvement.

An embodiment and a method of using the buckle body (1) used in the present invention will be described below in a state where the buckle body (1) is installed on the right side of the driver's seat.
The buckle body (1) is substantially L-shaped, and is integrally assembled with a buckle mechanism part (3) on one vertical side of the L-shape and a solenoid part (4) on the other horizontal side, and is covered with an outer L-shaped box-like buckle case (2), and is installed with the solenoid part (4) on the door side and the buckle mechanism part on the body side.
The buckle case (2) is roughly L-shaped with both vertical and horizontal pieces sharing a bottom surface, with the left end being slightly thicker to form the buckle base wall (5), and the right end forming the solenoid section base wall (6). The space surrounded by the buckle base wall (5), a mechanism partition wall (7) facing it and forming the outer shell of the buckle mechanism section (3) together with the solenoid section (4) and separating it, the closed case bottom surface (8), and the lock mechanism compartment ceiling surface (19) having a tongue insertion hole (20) in the center for inserting a tongue plate (p) forms a lock mechanism compartment (9) in which a mechanism part for locking and unlocking the tongue plate (p) is installed.
The structures of the solenoid portion (4) inside the buckle case (2) and the buckle mechanism portion (3) and their relationship will be described below.
In the solenoid section (4), the movable iron-core plunger base shaft section (10) that passes horizontally through the center is surrounded and formed in three sections, which are, in order from the buckle mechanism section (3) side, a section in the direction of displacement when current is applied (11), a permanent magnet section (13), and a section in the direction of displacement when current is not applied (12). The plunger base shaft section (10) penetrates the mechanism partition wall (7) to the left end side and extends into the buckle mechanism section (3), and is continuously and integrally connected to the plunger lock mechanism pieces (14) that are erected vertically inside the lock mechanism chamber (7) at right angles to the left end.
The side of the plunger lock mechanism piece (14) that is joined to the plunger base shaft part (10) and rises perpendicularly has a height that occupies most of the height space of the lock mechanism chamber (9) and forms the plunger tongue receiving part (15), while the opposite side facing the buckle base wall (5) is about half as high and twice as thick as the upper part, and the upper end surface of the thickness width is recessed in a groove shape to form a lock groove (16) with a width that can receive the tongue tip part (t) inserted from above, i.e., the front end area that sandwiches the tongue lock hole (r) in the tongue plate (p), and the edge of the lock groove (16) that faces the buckle base wall (5) functions as an unlocking piece (17). At a height position that just hits the lower end (front end) of the tongue lock hole (r) when locked, a lock claw (18) is provided that protrudes from the buckle base wall (5) side and slopes forward.
Thus, in the locked state, the plunger lock mechanism piece (14) comes into close contact with the buckle base wall (5) on the unlocking piece (17) side, leaving a space between it and the mechanism partition wall (7), and in the unlocked state, it leaves a space between it and the buckle base wall (5) and displaces into close contact with the mechanism partition wall (7). The former displacement corresponds to when electricity is applied, and the latter displacement corresponds to when electricity is not applied. In this way, the troublesome problem of continuous high heat generation while driving is eliminated, and the automatic lock/unlock function is smoothly performed.
When you actually use this,
While pressing the engine switch button in the normal procedure, insert the tongue plate (p) into the tongue insertion hole (h) and push it in lightly. At this time, the plunger base shaft portion (5) is pushed leftward by the operation of the current-carrying displacement direction portion (11), and the plunger lock mechanism piece (14) presses the inserted and lowered tongue plate (p) toward the buckle base wall (5), so that the tongue tip portion (t) enters the locking cavity (16) and the pointed end of the locking claw (18) is pinched between the plunger tongue receiving portion (15) and the locking claw (18) in a cramped position, but with the assistance of the slope of the locking claw (18), it can be easily lowered with a light push from above and fitted into the tongue locking hole (r) to be locked. At the same time, the plunger base shaft portion (10) is strongly magnetically fixed by the permanent magnet portion (13), and the tongue plate (p) cannot come off via the plunger lock mechanism piece (14), so that the locked state is firmly maintained throughout the time the vehicle is running until the engine switch is turned off.
When the vehicle is stopped and the engine switch is turned off, the non-energized displacement direction portion (12) is activated and the plunger base shaft portion (10) is pulled back to the right, i.e., toward the solenoid portion base wall (6). At that time, the unlocking piece (17) hooks the tongue tip portion (t) and releases it from the locking claw (18), and at the same time, the tongue plate (p) smoothly escapes from the buckle body. All of this is an automatic function process. Elderly drivers do not need to think about undoing their seat belts. Commercial drivers can also get off the vehicle and get to work by simply turning off the switch, which will undoubtedly lead to improved work efficiency.

A seat belt having a buckle body formed by integrally incorporating a bidirectional solenoid unit having a movable iron core, i.e., a plunger, which moves in opposite directions when energized and when not energized, with a buckle mechanism unit,
A fully automatic release type seat belt is provided with a plunger lock mechanism piece provided in a lock mechanism compartment of a buckle mechanism section, and a buckle body formed continuously and integrally with a plunger base shaft portion extended from a solenoid section side.
2. The fully-automatic release type seat belt according to claim 1, wherein the plunger lock mechanism piece comprises a plunger tongue receiving portion, a lock tub, and an unlocking piece. 2. The fully-automatic release type seat belt according to claim 1, wherein a locking claw is provided on a buckle base wall of the buckle mechanism portion with a length corresponding to the thickness width of the tongue lock hole and with its pointed end protruding toward the locking mechanism housing side. 2. The fully-automatic release seat belt according to claim 1, wherein in the plunger lock mechanism piece, in the locked state, the unlocking piece is in close contact with the buckle base wall, leaving a clearance between it and the mechanism partition wall, and in the unlocked state, the plunger lock mechanism piece displaces to come into close contact with the mechanism partition wall while leaving a clearance between it and the buckle base wall. The former displacement corresponds to when electricity is applied, and the latter displacement corresponds to when electricity is not applied, thus eliminating the troublesome problem of continuous generation of high heat while driving, and smoothly performing the automatic lock/release function.
