Abstract

To provide a waterproof implement for a bicycle, capable of quickly and easily coping with states corresponding to a change of weather by: setting the rainproof implement onto the bicycle with a child seat to protect a driver and a child seat occupant from rain when it rains; and releasing the waterproof state of and using the bicycle when the rain stops.SOLUTION: A rainproof implement for a bicycle named Slide Rainproof quickly and easily copes with states corresponding to a change of weather and is useful to comfortably drive without worrying about the weather. The rainproof implement is used by: setting an integrated state of a child seat and a rainproof implement onto a load-carrying platform of a bicycle; setting a front basket cover which can be connected to the rainproof implement onto a front basket; when it rains, deploying the rainproof implement and connecting the transparent sheet of the rainproof implement to the front basket cover so that the rainproof implement forms a roof shape to cover a driver and a child seat occupant to protect them from rain; and when the rain stops, disconnecting the transparent sheet and the front basket cover and disposing the rainproof implement at a rear part of the child seat to release the rainproof state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

Description

The present invention relates to a slide rainproof system that is deployed on a bicycle in rainy weather to provide waterproof protection for the rider and passenger as shown in FIG. 1, and which is then made non-waterproof in other weather conditions.

Bicycles with child seats installed are often seen being ridden in the rain using waterproof covers for child seats, but the driver is wearing rain gear. Waterproof covers for the driver and the child in the child seat are also available on the market, but because the waterproof cover is always fixed to the bicycle, it is installed even when it is not raining, and is susceptible to wind even when the bicycle is being ridden or not in use. The Clear Rain Shade, which can be folded up and stored when it is not raining, provides a waterproof cover for the driver only and is currently under patent application.

The Clear Rain Shade, which is currently under patent application, can be shrunk and stored when not raining even when attached to a bicycle, but because it is installed on the bicycle rack, it is not possible to install a child seat on it.

The Slide Rainproof is configured by attaching a sliding roof 1 to a child seat 2 and connecting a dedicated front basket cover 3. The integrated sliding roof 1 and child seat 2 are placed on the bicycle carrier and the front basket cover 3 is placed on the front basket.
When it rains, the slide rainproof is deployed, and the transparent waterproof sheet 1B and the waterproof sheet 1C form a waterproof state. The transparent waterproof sheet 1B and the front basket cover 3 are connected, and by using an elastic band 3A-1 inside the top lid of the front basket cover 3, the top lid of the front basket cover 3 expands and contracts, flexibly responding to the range of movement of the front basket caused by operating the handlebars. The bicycle rider and the passenger in the child seat 2 are waterproofed, and the transparent waterproof sheet 1B allows the rider to see ahead while riding.
When the rain stops, you can return the Slide Rainproof to its original non-waterproof state and use your bicycle.
The Slide Rainproof is intended to realize comfortable bicycle riding without worrying about the weather, by installing it on the carrier and front basket of a bicycle using a child seat in preparation for rain, and easily waterproofing it even if the weather turns rainy, waterproofing the driver and the passenger in the child seat 2 and enabling them to respond to changes in the weather.
The most important feature of this invention is that when changing the bicycle rider and passenger from a non-waterproof state to a waterproof state, it can be quickly waterproofed from pouring rain in just three steps without using any tools or implements: (1) Slide the sliding roof 1, (2) Connect the transparent waterproof sheet 1B and the top lid of the front basket cover 3, and (3) Deploy the waterproof sheet 1C.

When the Slide Rainproof is deployed in rainy weather, the waterproof sheet covers both the bicycle rider and the child seat passenger, providing a wide waterproof area. In addition, it can be made non-waterproof except in rainy weather, so it is less affected by wind and the bicycle rider can choose between waterproof and non-waterproof depending on the weather. Another advantage is that the Slide Rainproof can be easily installed on bicycle racks, and can be installed on many commercially available bicycles that have a front basket and rack.

FIG. 1 is an explanatory diagram showing the deployed (waterproof) state of the slide rainproof. FIG. 2 is an explanatory diagram showing the sliding roof 1 in an expanded state. FIG. 3 is an explanatory diagram showing the development of the waterproof sheet 1C of the sliding roof 1. FIG. 4 is an explanatory diagram showing the configuration of a slide rainproof.

The sliding roof 1 is a roof-type frame formed by connecting an aluminum frame 1A-1 to left and right rails 1A, and has rail hooks 1A-2 on both sides of the left and right rails 1A. A transparent waterproof sheet 1B is arranged from the back of the left and right rails 1A to the front lower part of the aluminum frame 1A-1, and has through holes (grommets) 1B-1 on the left and right ends of the transparent waterproof sheet 1B. The right-side waterproof sheet 1C and the left-side waterproof sheet 1C are rolled up and placed on the back of the left and right rails 1A.
The child seat 2 has a slide shaft 2A and a slide fixed shaft 2B at two positions on the upper left and right sides.
The sliding roof 1 is connected to the back of the child seat 2 and integrated, allowing the left and right sliding shafts 2A of the child seat 2 to slide on the left and right rails A of the sliding roof 1 (as shown in the cross-sectional view of Figure 4). The sliding roof 1 and child seat 2 are installed in an integrated state on the bicycle carrier.
The front basket cover 3 is a standard front basket cover with a top lid that has a stretchable function attached, and is installed on the front basket of the bicycle. Two stretchable straps 3A-1 are used inside the top lid of the front basket cover 3, and an S-shaped carabiner 3A-2 is attached to the tip of the stretchable straps 3A-1. The stretchable function of the stretchable straps 3A-1 allows the top lid to stretch and contract.

To deploy the slide rainproof (in rainy weather), slide the slide roof 1 towards the front of the upper part of the bicycle as shown in Figure 2, and hook the rail hook 1A-2 onto the slide fixing shaft 2A. Remove the fastener 3A-3 of the front basket cover 3, and connect the S-shaped carabiners 3A-2 at two places on the top cover to the holes (grommets) 1B-1 in the transparent waterproof sheet 1B of the slide roof 1. Remove the fixing belt 1C-1 on the back of the left and right rails 1A, deploy the left and right waterproof sheets 1C as shown in Figure 3, and connect the waterproof sheet 1C to the Velcro 2C on the child seat 2.
When the rain stops, the left and right waterproof sheets 1C are rolled up and secured with the fixing belts 1C-1. The S-shaped carabiner 3A-2 on the top cover of the front basket cover 3 is disconnected from the through hole (grommet) 1B-1 of the transparent waterproof sheet 1B of the sliding roof 1. The sliding roof 1 is slid toward the rear of the bicycle and placed on the back of the child seat 2, making the sliding rainproof sheet non-waterproof.

Claims (2)

1. The rain protection equipment is attached to the back of the child seat and installed in an integrated state on the bicycle rack.
2. Install a front basket cover with an extendable top lid on the bicycle's front basket.
3. In rainy weather, slide the rain gear and connect the transparent sheet and front basket cover so that the rain gear forms a roof shape that covers the driver and child seat passenger to provide waterproofing.
4. Except in rainy weather, disconnect the transparent sheet and front basket cover and slide the rain protection gear to the rear of the child seat before using the bicycle.
The bicycle rain gear consisting of the above items 1 to 4 is named Slide Rainproof. The Slide Rainproof is characterized by the use of an elastic band inside the top lid of the front basket cover that expands and contracts to flexibly accommodate the range of movement of the front basket caused by handlebar operation, making it possible to connect the transparent sheet to which the rainproof gear is fixed and the front basket cover, thereby making it possible to use the Slide Rainproof as bicycle rainproof gear that can waterproof the front and upper part of the bicycle rider.
