Abstract
Description
本開示は、概して印刷に関し、特に特殊印刷流体の印刷に適用可能である。
印刷は、主に情報提供目的のために読取可能なテキストやグラフィックイメージを生産するための技術から、将来性のある有用な製造プロセスへと発展している。特に、具体的に特定された場所のみにおいて印刷媒体上へ機能材料を堆積する能力は、従前の顔料または染料以外の材料を堆積するのに適合されるとき、廃棄物がゼロで比較的速い付加製造をもたらし得る。しかし、印刷媒体との視覚コントラスト以外の有用な特性を有する材料の堆積の難しさは、製造プロセスとしての印刷を制限し続ける。これは、部分的には、適用可能な印刷技術が、一般に、液系材料を印刷媒体へまたは印刷媒体に向かって供給する一方で、製造された製品が典型的には固体材料から形成されるためである。いくつかの固体材料は、その後に蒸発する、反応する、またはバインダとして作用する液体キャリア材料を介して微粒子形態で印刷され得るが、既知の印刷法に対応するために、固体含有量および粒径について制限が存在する。
印刷機の実施形態は、連続的な静電場の存在下で印刷ノズルから印刷流体を抽出する抽出ガスの噴出を提供するように構成され、静電場は抽出された印刷流体を印刷基板に向かって加速させるように配置される。
いくつかの実施形態において、ノズルの先端と印刷基板との間の距離は、ガス放出ポートと印刷基板との間の距離よりも小さい。
いくつかの実施形態において、印刷機は、ノズルと印刷基板との間における抽出された印刷流体の周りに集束ガスの覆いを提供するように構成される、追加のガス放出ポートを含む。
高粘度液体、大きな固体粒子を含む流体、および機能インクなどの特殊流体を、起伏のある表面を含む表面上へまたは表面にわたって制御可能に堆積することが可能なエアロゾル印刷システムならびに方法が、以下に記載される。従来型のエアロゾル印刷機は、まず印刷流体を霧化し、次いで霧化された流体を空気と混合し、結果として生じたエアロゾルを圧力下でノズルを通して放出することによって動作する。しかしながら、この技術は、約500センチポイズ未満の粘度および約1ミクロン以下の最大粒径を有する印刷流体にしか対応可能でない。以下でさらに議論されるように、システムには、エアロゾルを集束させるのを助けるまたは電気流体力学印刷に適応するために、高電圧電極が備えられ得る。
Claims (18)
- 連続的な静電場の存在下で印刷ノズルから印刷流体を抽出する抽出ガスの噴出を提供するように構成された印刷機であって、前記静電場は抽出された印刷流体を印刷基板に向かって加速させるように配置される、印刷機。
- 前記印刷ノズルと同軸の、前記印刷ノズルを囲む、抽出ガスノズルをさらに備え、前記抽出ガスは、前記抽出ガスノズルから放出されて前記印刷ノズルの先端で収束する前に、前記印刷ノズルの外面における環状間隙に沿って流れる、請求項1に記載の印刷機。
- 前記抽出ガスノズルと同軸であり、前記抽出ガスノズルを囲む、集束ノズルをさらに備え、集束ガスは、前記集束ノズルから放出されて前記印刷ノズルと前記印刷基板との間における前記抽出された印刷流体の周りに集束ガスの覆いを提供する前に、前記抽出ガスノズルの外面における環状間隙に沿って流れる、請求項2に記載の印刷機。
- 前記抽出ガスノズルは、前記抽出ガスノズルと前記印刷基板との間に前記静電場を提供する帯電電極を備える、請求項2に記載の印刷機。
- 前記印刷ノズルの先端は、前記抽出ガスノズルと前記印刷基板との間に位置する、請求項2に記載の印刷機。
- ノズルであって、先端を有し、前記ノズルからの抽出のために前記先端に印刷流体を供給するように構成された、前記ノズルと、
前記ノズルの前記先端が抽出ガスの流れの中にある状態で、前記抽出ガスの流れを印刷基板に向かって放出するように構成された、ガス放出ポートと、を備え、前記抽出ガスの速度は、前記ノズルから前記印刷流体を連続的に抽出することができるとともに抽出された印刷流体を前記印刷基板に運ぶのに十分である、印刷機。 - 電極をさらに備え、前記電極は、前記印刷流体が前記ノズルからの抽出後に前記印刷基板に向かって加速するように、前記電極と前記印刷基板との間に電位を提供するように構成される、請求項6に記載の印刷機。
- 前記印刷流体は前記ノズルにおいて加圧され、前記印刷流体は、前記抽出ガスの流れがないときに前記印刷流体が前記ノズルの前記先端から吐き出されることを防止する組成を有する、請求項6に記載の印刷機。
- 前記ガス放出ポートを含む抽出ガスノズルをさらに含む、請求項6に記載の印刷機。
- 前記抽出ガスノズルは電極を含み、前記電極は、前記印刷流体が抽出後に前記印刷基板に向かって加速するように、前記電極と前記印刷基板との間に電位を提供するように構成される、請求項9に記載の印刷機。
- 前記ガス放出ポートは環状であり、前記ノズルを囲む、請求項6に記載の印刷機。
- 前記ノズルの前記先端と前記印刷基板との間の距離は、前記ガス放出ポートと前記印刷基板との間の距離よりも小さい、請求項6に記載の印刷機。
- 前記ノズルは電気絶縁性である、請求項6に記載の印刷機。
- 前記ノズルと前記印刷基板との間における前記抽出された印刷流体の周りに集束ガスの覆いを提供するように構成される、追加のガス放出ポートをさらに備える,請求項6に記載の印刷機。
