Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a film of a tetrafluoroethylene polymer and a method for producing the same.
In recent years, as the speed of transmission signals on printed wiring boards has increased, the frequency of signals has been increasing. Along with this, especially flexible printed wiring boards (FPCs) are strongly required to have low dielectric properties (low dielectric constant, low dielectric loss tangent) in a high frequency region. In response to this demand, as a base film used for FPC, a base film composed of polyimide (PI), a liquid crystal polymer having a low dielectric property (LCP), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), or the like has been conventionally proposed. ..
Tetrafluoroethylene-based polymers such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) are excellent in weather resistance, stain resistance, chemical resistance, water and oil repellency, and heat resistance, and are lower than materials such as PI, LCP, and PPS. Since it has a dielectric constant, low dielectric loss tangent, and excellent transparency, it can be used as a transparent FPC base film. In particular, a film having a small surface roughness has a low haze and excellent dimensional stability, and tends to be preferred as the base material.
From the viewpoint of improving the appearance of the tetrafluoroethylene polymer film such as surface roughness and foaming, Patent Document 1 describes a film containing two types of tetrafluoroethylene polymers, each of which has a specific melt flow rate ratio. Proposed.
Since a film of a tetrafluoroethylene polymer generally has a small surface friction coefficient and a large slipperiness, it is liable to be unwound when it is wound in the production of the film. When unwinding occurs, defects such as wrinkles, bends, and deformation are likely to occur during storage and use.
In particular, since the film of tetrafluoroethylene polymer is soft, wrinkles like pulling are likely to occur, and when the winding tension is increased, the film shrinks while the film wound in a roll shape is stored. It tends to cause a defective phenomenon called "flare" in which the roll is wrinkled. In addition, when the film has uneven thickness, when the film is rolled into a roll and laminated, a defect called "gauge band" that causes uneven shape or wrinkles is likely to occur, and the quality of the film is improved. Easy to be damaged.

The following terms have the following meanings.
"Film thickness" is determined by using a contact type thickness gauge DG-525H (manufactured by Ono Sokki Co., Ltd.) and using a stylus AA-026 (Φ10 mm, SR7) to measure the film thickness in the width direction. It is an average value of the measured values measured at 10 points so that is equal.

The "glass transition point of a polymer" is a value measured by analyzing a polymer by a dynamic viscoelasticity measurement (DMA) method.
"Melting flow rate (MFR)" means the melt mass flow rate of a polymer as defined in JIS K 7210: 1999 (ISO 1133: 1997).
The "unit" in a polymer means an atomic group based on the monomer formed by polymerization of the monomer. The unit may be a unit directly formed by a polymerization reaction, or may be a unit in which a part of the unit is converted into another structure by processing a polymer. Hereinafter, the unit based on the monomer a is also simply referred to as “monomer a unit”.

It can be suitably used as a printed wiring board.
It can be said that the roll film of the present invention having a winding misalignment of the winding core in the axial direction of 5 mm or less has uniform physical elements that can affect its production, and is excellent in dimensional stability. Inorganic fillers include boron nitride fillers, beryllia fillers (berylium oxide fillers), silicate fillers (silica fillers, wollastonite fillers, talc fillers), or metal oxides (cerium oxide, aluminum oxide, magnesium oxide). , Zinc oxide, titanium oxide, etc.) Fillers are preferable. Further, at least a part of the surface of the inorganic filler may be surface-treated. Examples of the surface treatment agent used for such surface treatment include polyhydric alcohols, saturated fatty acids, esters thereof, amines, paraffin waxes, silane coupling agents, silicones, and polysiloxanes.
The shape of the inorganic filler may be granular, needle-like (fibrous), plate-like, etc., and specific shapes include spherical, scaly, layered, leaf-like, apricot kernel, columnar, chicken crown, etc. Shaft-shaped, leaf-shaped, mica-shaped, block-shaped, flat plate-shaped, wedge-shaped, rosette-shaped, mesh-shaped, and prismatic-shaped.
The average particle size of the granular inorganic filler is preferably 0.01 to 1 μm. The needle-shaped (fibrous) inorganic filler preferably has a fiber length of 1 to 10 μm and a fiber diameter of 0.01 to 1 μm. In the roll film of the present invention, when the film contains an inorganic filler, the content thereof is preferably 1 to 100% by mass with respect to the F polymer from the viewpoint of low linear expansion.
In the roll film of the present invention, the Ra on the film surface is 0.1 μm or less on both sides of the film, preferably 0.05 μm or less. The Ra on the surface of the film is preferably 0 μm or more on both sides of the film. Ra is measured by the method shown in Examples described later.
Subsequently, the method for producing the roll film of the present invention (hereinafter referred to as the present method 1) will be described. The roll film of the present invention can be preferably produced by a die coating method (melt extrusion method using a T-die), in which an F polymer is discharged from a die in a molten state and extruded to form a film, and pressure is applied to a take-up core. Includes the operation of contacting the film with a roll and winding the film while pulling it so that the value obtained by dividing the thickness of the film by the take-up tension satisfies 0.5 to 1.0 (μm · s 2 / kg · m). ..
Alternatively, when the raw fabric roll of the F polymer film is once produced by the usual method in film forming, and then the film is unwound from the raw fabric roll, slit to a desired width and wound, the front of the winding roll. A slitter is placed in the film, the film is contacted with a pressure contact roll, and more preferably, the thickness of the film is divided by the winding tension while swinging the feeding portion of the original fabric in the axial direction of the winding core. The roll film of the present invention may be obtained by winding the film while pulling it so as to satisfy 0.5 to 1.0 (μm · s 2 / kg · m).
In the production of roll film, the film thickness and winding tension are controlled so that the value obtained by dividing the film thickness of the F polymer by the winding tension satisfies the above range, and the contact pressure by the contact pressure roll is further applied. The present inventor has found that the unwinding, flare, and gauge band of the obtained roll film can be reduced by winding the original roll film while swinging it in the axial direction of the winding core. bottom.

From the viewpoint of reducing Ra on the surface of the obtained film, it is particularly preferable that the roll surfaces of the
From the viewpoint of adjusting the width of the obtained film, it is preferable that the raw fabric roll is slit with a slitter if necessary. FIG. 2 shows a mode in which one slit portion is provided and two roll films are wound, but the number of blades of the slit portion and the number of roll films to be wound can be changed as needed.
As the
The contact pressure of the contact pressure roll is preferably 3 to 30 N / m, more preferably 5 to 20 N / m.
When winding the film, the film is brought into contact with the take-up roll with a pressure contact roll, so that the position shift of the film can be reduced, the film thickness unevenness can be reduced, and even if the film thickness unevenness occurs, the gauge band can be reduced. And flare can be reduced, and the occurrence of vertical stripes on the roll film can be suppressed. If the contact pressure is too low, it tends to meander during winding, resulting in an unwound roll film. On the other hand, if the contact pressure is too high, the winding becomes strong during winding, and even a slight uneven thickness of the film tends to cause uneven thickness or slack. In addition, the roll film becomes hard, blocking of the film occurs during storage, and the film may flutter when unwound due to the lamination when manufacturing the laminate.
Further, in this method 1, it is important to wind the film while pulling it so that the value obtained by dividing the thickness of the film by the winding tension satisfies 0.5 to 1.0 (μm · s 2 / kg · m). Is.
The film thickness can be controlled by adjusting the winding tension at the time of film winding.
The take-up tension is the take-up tension at the time of film take-up, and can be controlled by adjusting the take-up speed and the take-up diameter.
The thickness of the melted F polymer (thickness t in FIG. 1) before contacting the
The take-up tension and the contact pressure of the contact pressure roll at the time of winding affect the width of the unwinding of the roll film. In order to keep the unwinding width of the roll film within the specified range of the present invention, the winding tension is preferably 20 to 100 N / m, more preferably 25 to 50 N / m.
If the winding tension is too low, the winding becomes weak, and even if a slight vibration is applied to the roll film, winding misalignment tends to occur easily. On the other hand, if the winding tension is too high, the winding becomes hard, which may cause film meandering when laminating to obtain a laminated body.
Further, from the viewpoint that the unwinding of the roll film is within the specified range of the present invention, the winding tension from the start to the end of winding when winding after the slit may be changed according to the winding diameter of the roll film. .. For example, when the winding tension is reduced as the winding diameter increases, the ratio of the winding tension at the winding end to the winding tension at the beginning of winding (hereinafter referred to as "tension control rate") is 40 to 60%. preferable. If the tension control rate is too low, the unwinding of the obtained roll film tends to be larger than the specified range of the present invention. In addition, air may enter the soft winding hardness portion (between the films) during storage, and the upper winding portion may shift when the roll is transported. On the other hand, if the tension control rate is too high, wrinkles are likely to occur on the lower wound film due to the occurrence of winding tightening.
Further, from the viewpoint that the unwinding of the roll film is within the specified range of the present invention, the contact pressure by the contact roll from the start to the end of winding when winding after the slit is changed according to the winding diameter of the roll film. You may. For example, when the contact pressure is increased as the winding diameter increases, the ratio of the contact pressure at the end of winding to the contact pressure at the beginning of winding (hereinafter referred to as "contact pressure control rate") is preferably 150 to 250%. .. If the contact pressure control rate is too low, the air entrained in the roll film will escape during storage and transportation, and winding misalignment is likely to occur. On the other hand, if the contact pressure control rate is too high, blocking of the roll film after storage and transportation tends to occur, and a problem that the film flutters when unwinding due to lamination tends to occur.
It is extremely preferable that the film is wound by contacting with a pressure-contact roll and swinging the feeding portion of the original roll in the axial direction of the winding core, that is, in the width direction of the film. When a film having uneven thickness in the width direction is wound into a roll, even a slight uneven thickness is rolled up to cause unevenness on the outer peripheral surface of the roll. However, even in the case of a resin film having uneven thickness in the width direction, if pressure is applied with a pressure contact roll and the unwound portion of the original roll is preferably wound while swinging in the axial direction of the winding core, the thickness unevenness The film can be wound so that the thickness is substantially uniform, and the surface unevenness on the outer periphery of the obtained roll film can be made smaller. The swing width of the winding core in the axial direction is preferably 10 to 50 mm, more preferably 20 to 50 mm. Further, when the feeding portion of the original roll is swung by the swing width, the speed is preferably 10 to 50 mm / min.
The F polymer (film 1) after being separated from the
By this surface treatment, polar functional groups such as a hydroxy group, a carbonyl group, and a carboxy group are introduced into the surface of the film 1, and as a result, the adhesiveness with other surfaces is further enhanced.
Further, the film 1 may be heat-treated (annealed) if necessary in the process of being wound up.
The number of fish eyes in this film is preferably less than 0.05 per 1 m 2 of the film. The lower limit of the number of fish eyes is 0.
In the method for producing a laminate of the present invention (hereinafter, also referred to as “the present method 2”), the roll film and the base material layer of the present invention are rolled to roll by a roll-to-roll method, for example, at a temperature equal to or higher than the melting temperature of an F polymer. A method of laminating at a temperature of ~ 400 ° C. or a method of heat pressing at a temperature of ~ 400 ° C. higher than the melting temperature of the F polymer after stacking can be applied, and the layer made of this film (hereinafter, also referred to as “polymer layer”) can be applied. A laminated body in which the base material layers are laminated in this order is obtained.
The base material layer in this method 2 is preferably a metal foil or a heat-resistant resin film.
When the base material layer in this method 2 is a metal foil, the ten-point average roughness of the surface of the metal foil is preferably 0.01 μm or more and 0.5 μm or less. In this case, the polymer layer and the metal foil tend to adhere more firmly. Therefore, the electrical characteristics are likely to be remarkably exhibited in the laminate having the present film having high film thickness accuracy or the printed circuit board obtained by processing the laminate.
Specifically, when the base material layer in the present method 2 is a metal foil, the dielectric loss tangent of the laminate at a frequency of 10 GHz is preferably 0.0001 to 0.0020.
Examples of the material of the metal foil include iron, copper, nickel, titanium, aluminum, and alloys thereof (stainless steel, nickel 42 alloy, etc.). The metal foil is preferably rolled copper foil or electrolytic copper foil.
The surface of the metal foil may be rust-proofed (formation of an oxide film such as chromate). Further, the surface of the metal foil may be treated with a silane coupling agent. The processing range at that time may be a part of the surface of the metal foil or the entire surface.
The thickness of the metal foil is preferably 0.1 to 20 μm, more preferably 0.5 to 10 μm.
Further, as the metal foil, a metal foil with a carrier containing two or more layers of metal foil may be used. The metal foil with a carrier includes a carrier copper foil (thickness: 10 to 35 μm) and an ultrathin copper foil (thickness: 2 to 5 μm) laminated on the carrier copper foil via a release layer. Copper foil can be mentioned. By using such a copper foil with a carrier, it is possible to form a fine pattern by an MSAP (modified semi-additive) process. As the release layer, a metal layer containing nickel or chromium or a multilayer metal layer in which the metal layers are laminated is preferable.
Specific examples of the metal foil with a carrier include the trade name "FUTF-5DAF-2" manufactured by Fukuda Metal Foil Powder Industry Co., Ltd.
When the base material layer in the present method 2 is a heat-resistant resin film, the film contains one or more heat-resistant resins, and may be a single-layer film or a multilayer film. Glass fiber, carbon fiber, or the like may be embedded in the heat-resistant resin film.
When the base material layer is a heat-resistant resin film, it is preferable to laminate the present film on both sides of the base material layer. In this case, since the present film is laminated on both sides of the heat-resistant resin film layer, the coefficient of linear expansion of the laminated body is remarkably lowered, and warpage is unlikely to occur.
Examples of the heat-resistant resin include polyimide, polyarylate, polysulfone, polyallylsulfone, aromatic polyamide, aromatic polyetheramide, polyphenylene sulfide, polyallyl ether ketone, polyamideimide, liquid crystal polyester, and liquid crystal polyester amide. Polyimide (particularly aromatic polyimide) is preferred.
The thickness (total thickness) of the laminate, which is a heat-resistant resin film having the present film on both sides, is preferably 25 μm or more, more preferably 50 μm or more. The thickness is preferably 150 μm or less. In such a configuration, the ratio of the total thickness of the two polymer layers to the thickness of the heat-resistant resin film is preferably 0.8 or more. The above ratio is preferably 5 or less.
In this case, the characteristics of the heat-resistant resin film (high yield strength, resistance to plastic deformation) and the characteristics of the polymer layer (low water absorption) are exhibited in a well-balanced manner.
Specific examples of the laminate obtained by the present method 2 include a metal foil, a metal-clad laminate having a polymer layer on at least one surface of the metal foil, a polyimide film, and a polymer layer on both surfaces of the polyimide film. A multilayer film having the above can be mentioned.
A preferred embodiment of the laminate according to the method 2 in which the base material layer is a heat-resistant resin film is a polyimide film having a heat-resistant resin film having a thickness of 20 to 100 μm, and the present film and the polyimide film. , A three-layer film in which the present films are directly contacted and laminated in this order can be mentioned. In such an embodiment, the thicknesses of the two films are the same, preferably 15 to 50 μm. [Example 1]
(1) PFA1 pellets are put into an extruder at 350 ° C., extruded from a T-die having a width of 1600 mm, taken up by a metal cooling roll, wound on a winding core, and rolled into a roll film having a width of 1200 mm and a thickness of 25 μm (raw film). Was formed. A slitter (MODEL 536A manufactured by Gordo Kiko Co., Ltd.) was installed downstream of the original roll, and was wound around a winding core while slitting into two 520 mm wide rolls. At that time, a pressure contact roll was provided, and the contact pressure on the film wound as the roll film was set to 10 N / m. The take-up tension in take-up was 40 N, and the take-up speed was 20 m / min. After winding 260 m, the winding appearance of the obtained roll film (roll film 1) was visually confirmed with a ruler. The surface roughness Ra on both sides of the obtained film was 0.05 μm.
<Evaluation criteria for winding appearance>
〇: Gauge band and flare are not observed on the roll film △: Gauge band and flare are seen on the roll film, but the slack disappears when unrolled and tension is applied to the film ×: Strong gauge band and flare are seen on the roll film Be done.
Also, the slack does not disappear even if it is unwound and tension is applied to the film.
(2) By a roll press, a copper foil, a roll film 1, a polyimide film 1, a roll film 1, and a copper foil were laminated in this order at 330 ° C. in a roll-to-roll manner to obtain a laminate. The feeding tension was set to half that of the slit winding.
The obtained laminate was visually confirmed for the presence or absence of wrinkles and evaluated as follows.
〇: No wrinkles can be seen ×: There are wrinkles.
[Examples 2-9]
A roll film was obtained in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the F polymer type, the film thickness at the time of film formation, the contact pressure of the contact pressure roll, and the take-up tension at the time of winding were changed as shown in Table 1. The winding appearance (gauge band, flare) was evaluated, and the surface roughness of the film was also measured. Here, in Example 4, the feeding portion of the original roll was swung in the axial direction of the take-up core with a swing width of 50 mm.
Next, using the obtained roll film, a laminate was produced in the same manner as in Example 1, and the presence or absence of wrinkles was evaluated. Table 1 shows the film forming conditions and the evaluation results.
No laminated body was prepared for Examples 6 and 9 in which the roll film was unwound.
It is probable that the roll film having a roll appearance (gauge band, flare) of x was wrinkled in the obtained laminate because the slack still remained even when the film was unwound during laminating.
The film of the present invention can be easily processed into a metal laminated plate (metal foil with resin), and the obtained processed article can be used as a flexible printed circuit board for flexible device devices such as antenna parts, printed circuit boards, sports equipment, and food industry products.
