前記チップを、前記画像装置が追加のクアンタを要求しそれを計量する時点に、前記クアンタの当初量からクアンタをデクリメントするためのクエリを前記コントローラから受信するように設定するステップと、
を備える、方法。 - 前記クアンタを前記トナーの質量に関連付ける第2の値を前記メモリに格納するステップを更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。

前記ノンスの前記暗号化されたインスタンスを復号化するステップと、

前記画像装置からクアンタの追加の量に対する要求を受信するステップであって、ノンスの暗号化されたインスタンスと前記ノンスの暗号化されてないインスタンスの複数の選択ビットを受信することを含む、ステップと、
前記ノンスの暗号化されたインスタンスを復号化するステップと、
前記ノンスの前記暗号化されてないインスタンスの前記複数の選択ビットと前記ノンスの前記暗号化されたインスタンスを復号化した同じ複数の選択ビットとを比較するステップと、
それらが同じである場合に、前記画像装置から要求された前記クアンタの追加の量に正確に一致するクアンタの量を前記画像装置に送るステップと、
さもなければ、エラーを画像装置に送るステップと、
を含む方法。 - 補給ユニットと共に使用するために画像装置にインストールされるように構成されたチップにおいて、前記補給アイテムにクアンタを要求する方法であって、前記クアンタは前記チップのメモリ内の証明書に格納され、前記補給アイテムの許容使用量に相当し、
前記画像装置から前記クアンタの量に対する要求を受信するように前記チップを構成するステップと、
前記クアンタの前記量が前記チップのメモリに存在する場合に、前記要求にて受信した前記クアンタの量と等量のクアンタを前記画像装置に提供するように前記チップを構成するステップと、
を含む方法。 - クアンタの積算集計から前記クアンタの前記量をデクリメントするように前記チップを構成するステップを更に含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記画像装置にエラーを提供するように前記チップを構成するステップを更に含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記画像装置により知らされた時間内に前記等量のクアンタを前記画像装置に提供するように前記チップを構成するステップを更に含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記クアンタの量の増加を阻止するステップを更に含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 画像トナーを有する補給アイテムカートリッジと共に画像装置にインストールされ且つ前記画像装置のコントローラとの通信のためにI2C通信バスのスレーブノートに構成されたチップであり、前記コントローラは前記I2C通信バスのマスタノードに構成され、前記チップは、前記画像トナーのその寿命に亘る許容使用量を示すクアンタと、前記画像装置からの追加のクアンタの要求の受信時に前記クアンタからデクリメントされたクアンタの量を格納する証明書を有するメモリを備える、チップ。
