Abstract
Description
基板11と第2基板12との間に封止層13で封止された液晶層19とを備えている。第1基板11及び第2基板12は、ガラスなどの透光性基板である。
ところで、表示パネル2は、第2偏光部材31の透過軸と、第3偏光部材32の透過軸を平行にすると、いわゆるノーマリーブラックモードの液晶表示装置となる。第2偏光部材31の透過軸と、第3偏光部材32の透過軸を平行にしておいて、液晶層29の厚みを大きくすると、応答速度が満足できなくなり、表示品位に影響を与える可能性がある。

Claims (5)
- 第1偏光方向と直交する第2偏光方向の直線偏光を吸収する第1偏光部材と、
前記第2偏光方向の直線偏光を反射し、前記第1偏光方向の直線偏光を透過する光学シートと、
前記第1偏光部材と前記光学シートとの間に配置され、印加電圧に応じて入射した光の偏光方向を他の偏光方向に変換可能な前面パネルと、
前記光学シートに対して、前記第2偏光方向の直線偏光を透過する第2偏光部材を介して、前記前面パネルと重ね合わされた表示パネルと、を備える表示装置。 - 前記前面パネルは、液晶層を有し、
前記液晶層のリタデーションΔnd(μm)が下記式(1)を満たす請求項1に記載の表示装置。
0.3996≦Δnd≦0.4995 ・・・(1) - 前記前面パネルは、液晶層を有し、

0.444≦Δnd≦0.4551 ・・・(3) - 入射光が反射する反射状態と、入射光が透過する透過状態でかつ画像表示可能な車両のルームミラーであって、
請求項1から請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置と、車両の後方の画像を撮像する撮像装置を備え、
前記透過状態において、前記表示パネルに前記画像を表示し、
前記反射状態において、前記表示パネルに前記画像を表示しない、車両のルームミラー。
