Description
ＣＰＵ１０１は、Ｓ２０１において操作部１１０を介したユーザ入力に基づき電源投入要求を受けると、再生装置１００の動作モードをライブストリーミングモードに遷移させる。ライブストリーミングモードとは、再生装置１００が情報処理装置２００からコンテンツをセグメントデータ単位に受信しながら同時に表示部１０９に表示再生 する動作モードである。続くＳ２０２において、ＣＰＵ１０１は、通信部１１１を介して情報処理装置２００へ接続依頼の制御情報を送信する。続くＳ２０３においてＣＰＵ１０１は、通信部１１１を介して情報処理装置２００からプレイリストアクセス許可の制御情報を受信する。これにより、再生装置１００と、情報処理装置２００とが通信可能状態となり、以降、再生装置１００と情報処理装置２００における通信は、通信部１１１を介して行われる。
なお、セグメントデータ１の表示タイミングは、セグメントデータ１の復号処理後すぐでもよいし、セグメントデータ保持部１０６にバッファ領域を設け、その領域にある程度（例えばセグメント3つ分）セグメントデータが蓄積されたタイミングで表示してもよい。特に通信速度が遅い場合は、セグメントデータ１の表示完了時点でセグメントデータ２の受信や復号が完了しておらず、再生が途切れてしまう可能性がある。このような場合にはバッファ領域を設け、再生装置１００側に一定のセグメントデータを蓄積してから再生を行うことが有効になる。バッファを用いると再生の開始が遅延するため再生のリアルタイム性は損なわれるが、一方で再生の途切れを軽減できるという利点がある。
