Description
本発明の3次元印刷物品は、典型的には、造形材料及び支持材料を含むが、一実施形態において、3次元物品は、ヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロース単独で、または(例えば、水溶性の3次元印刷物品を作製することを望む場合)下記の他の添加剤とともに構成され得る。
メトキシル%及びヒドロキシエトキシル%の決定は、米国薬局方(USP 35,“Hypromellose”,pages 3467−3469)に従って行われる。その後、これらは、メトキシル置換基の置換度(DS)及びヒドロキシエトキシル置換基のモル置換度(MS)に変換される。HEMC試料の粘度は、2.55s−1のせん断速度でHaake VT550 Viscotesterにおいて20℃の2重量%水溶液として決定される。
可屈曲性は、フィラメントがどれほど可撓性であるか、ならびに最終的にフィラメントが取り扱い及び3D印刷に対してどれほど耐性があるかを説明するのに役立つ。それは、フィラメント(1.75mm直径)が破断する前にフィラメントが屈曲され得る最小円の面積として定義される。フィラメントが可撓性であればあるほど、cm2単位で求めた面積は小さくなる。一般に、印刷中に破壊することなく良好な印刷品質を実現するために、可屈曲性は、約50cm2未満であるが、望ましくは、約45cm2、40cm2、35cm2、またはさらには30cm2未満である。可屈曲性は、任意のより低い実用的量、例えばcm2の分率でさえあってもよい。
溶解性は、長さ75mmのフィラメントをとり、それが室温(約23℃)の中性pHの水中に溶解するのにかかる時間を、Fisher Scientific FS140超音波クリーナーを最大電力(40KHz)で用いて決定することによって、測定した。
3D印刷に対するHEMCの適用性及び適用可能な印刷温度範囲を決定するために印刷品質を使用した。HEMCの印刷適性を等級付けするために、印刷品質は、HEMCフィラメントの材料特性と併用した。例えば、HEMCが過度に脆すぎた(可屈曲性が低すぎる、すなわち、「cm2が高すぎる」)場合には、HEMCは一般に、フィラメントの破断に起因して生じ得る印刷中の破壊に因り、3D印刷にはあまり好適でない。許容される印刷品質は、表面が本質的に何の欠陥も(何の破壊または空隙も)有せず、層間の接着が良好であった(材料取り扱いの際に完全性を維持した)場合である。
下記の表1に列挙されるように、DS(メチル)、MS(ヒドロキシエチル)、及び粘度を有するいくつかのヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロース(HEMC)粉末試料から、3次元印刷のフィラメントを作製した。実施例HEMCは、米国特許第3,709,876号に記載される方法等の、アルカリ化セルロースをエーテル化する既知の方法を使用して調製した。エーテル化剤の塩化メチル及びエチレンオキシドをアルカリセルロースに添加して、高温で反応させた。得られた粗HEMCを中和し、熱水を用いて塩素なしに洗浄し、乾燥して、粉砕する。60〜85℃の温度で80〜100分間、ガス状の塩化水素によりHEMC粉末を加熱することによって、作製したHEMCを部分解重合に供する。
Stratasys Ltd(Minneapolis,MN(USA))から市販されている、3D Printer MakerBot Replicator 2Xを3D印刷に使用する。
比較例1:
1.75mmの直径を有するフィラメントを、1.75mmの直径を有するポリビニルアルコール(PVA)フィラメントから作製する。ポリビニルアルコールフィラメントは、Matterhackers(Orange County,CA)から市販されている。ポリビニルアルコールは、3次元印刷後に除去するのが最も容易かつ最も速い材料と見なされている3次元印刷用の既知の支持材料である。上述され、表1に示されるのと同様の様態で、比較例1の水中の溶解度を決定した。
Claims (19)
- 1.7〜2.5のDS及び少なくとも0.5のMSを有するヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースを含む3次元印刷物品であって、DSが、メトキシル基の置換度であり、MSが、ヒドロキシエトキシル基のモル置換度である、3次元印刷物品。
- 前記3次元印刷物品が、造形材料及び支持材料から構成され、前記ヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースが、前記造形材料のための前記支持材料である、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 前記ヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースが少なくとも1.8のDSを有する、請求項1または2に記載の物品。
- 前記造形材料が熱可塑性材料を含む、請求項2または3に記載の物品。
- 前記造形材料が、ポリオレフィン、ポリ(アクリロニトリル−ブタジエン−スチレン)、ポリカーボネート、ポリ乳酸及びポリアミドのうちの少なくとも1つから構成される、請求項4に記載の物品。
- 前記ヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースが1.8〜2.5のDSを有する、請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の物品。
- 前記ヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースが0.5〜10のMSを有する、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の物品。
- 前記ヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースが、充填剤、色素、潤滑剤、界面活性剤、可塑剤または安定剤のうちの少なくとも1つから構成される、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の物品。
- 前記ヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースが可塑剤からさらになる、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の物品。
- 前記ヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースが可塑剤を有しない、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の物品。
- 前記ヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースが、100mPa・s以下の粘度を有し、前記粘度が、20℃の前記ヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースの2重量パーセント水溶液の2.55s−1のせん断速度で測定される、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の物品。
- 3次元物品を印刷する方法であって、
基板上に造形材料の層を選択的に堆積させて前記3次元物品を形成することと、
前記造形材料の前記層のうちの少なくとも1層を支持材料によって支持することと、を含み、前記支持材料が、1.8〜2.5のDS及び少なくとも0.5〜2.5のMSを有するヒドロキシエチルメチルセルロースを含み、DSが、メトキシル基の置換度であり、MSが、ヒドロキシエトキシル基のモル置換度である、方法。 - 前記造形材料の前記層のうちの少なくとも1層が、請求項2〜7のいずれか1項に記載の支持材料によって支持される、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記造形材料の前記層が、コンピュータ可読形式の前記3次元物品の画像に従って堆積される、請求項9または10に記載の方法。
- 前記支持材料を水と接触させることによって、前記造形材料から前記支持材料を除去することをさらに含む、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記水が中性pHを有する、請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記水が最高でも約30℃の温度である、請求項13に記載の方法。
