植物原料から抽出物を調製する一般的方法を適宜採用することができるが、溶媒抽出法が望ましい。溶媒抽出については、水、エタノール等の極性溶媒を用いることが望ましく、水とその他の極性溶媒を同時に用いることがさらに望ましい。さらに、抽出物を活性炭処理、液液分配、カラムクロマトグラフィー、液体クロマトグラフィー、ゲル濾過、等によって、分離精製し、さらに活性の高い画分(成分)を抽出することもできる。
