図3は首だし要部を説明する平面図である。装着フレーム1の後方に向けて突設した係合板17に7の基枠に変速ボックス9が連結されて、この変速ボックス9には進行方向に直交した回転軸14が装備されている。回転軸14には数個の横バー15が並行上に固着され、この横バー15にはレーキ線材12を横設してレーキ列16を放射方向に形成してレーキ群回転体を構成する。17の係合板には基枠7の基部が係合して進行方向に向けて角度を変更する手段を具備している。すなわち係合板17の基部は支軸18によって支持され他方端には円弧上に3個の孔20が設けられて形成される。1の装着フレームに対して基枠7は支軸18を支点として矢印Zの方向に揺動して角度が変わり、前記した3個の孔20の一つを選び縦ピン19を指し替えることによってレーキ群回転体21は進行方向に対して角度が変更される。角度を変えると図5に示した如く表層土の排除盛り土23を一方に寄せて掻き上げる。レーキ線材12は直径3ミリから9ミリのばね鋼で適宜な弾性を有しており、根茎首部周囲の表層土をほぐしながら排除させる。弾性を有するレーキ線材は根茎首部の損傷を最小限にする。
