Description

The present invention relates to a surface mount inductor including a coil formed by winding a conducting wire and a sealing material including a resin and a magnetic material, and including a molded body containing the coil.

There is one in which the leading end of the coil 71 is pulled out to the end surface of the molded body 72 and the leading end of the coil 71 is connected to the external terminal 73 formed on the molded body 72 (see, for example, Patent Document 1).

In this type of conventional surface mount inductor, an external terminal is formed on a molded body by applying a conductive paste to the molded body by a dipping method. For this reason, it is necessary to reduce the overall size of the molded body by taking into account that a large amount of conductive paste adheres to the molded body and the thickness of the external terminal tends to increase, and the thickness of the external terminal increases. When the whole compact is made small, there is a problem that characteristics such as inductance value, DC resistance Rdc, rated current Isat, and the like deteriorate.

An object of the present invention is to provide a surface mount inductor that can set the size of a molded body without considering the thickness of an external terminal and can improve the characteristics.

The surface-mount inductor of the present invention includes a coil formed by winding a conductive wire, and a molded body that is formed using a sealing material including a resin and a magnetic material, and that incorporates the coil. The coil is exposed and extended so that the surface of the lead-out end is flush with the surface of the end of the molded body. The molded body is formed such that the upper and lower ends of the end surface are smaller than the vertical size of the molded body, the left and right end surfaces are smaller than the horizontal size of the molded body, It is formed smaller than the top, bottom, left and right. Then, apply a conductive material to the molded body so that its upper and lower surfaces are flush with the upper and lower surfaces of the molded body, or apply a conductive material to the molded body so that its left and right sides are flush with the left and right sides of the molded body. Alternatively, the external terminals are formed by applying a conductive material to the molded body so that the upper, lower, left, and right sides thereof are flush with the upper, lower, left, and right sides of the molded body.
Therefore, the surface mount inductor of the present invention does not need to reduce the overall size of the molded body in consideration of the thickness of the external terminals, and the molded body is smaller than necessary due to the portion of the molded body where the external terminals are not formed. Can be prevented.
