天井内での配管は、水道管の1次側と2次側末端が近い場合にはスプリンクラーヘッドの設置部を底辺としたU字型の配管となり、配管を曲げて対処する必要が生じる。
鋼管等硬質管ではエルボ等別途継手が必要となり、樹脂管等軟質管においても急激な曲がりは管の折れの原因となり、通水量の低下や管の損傷を引き起こす問題がある。
