Description

The present invention relates to an oil level gauge insertion portion structure formed on a cylinder head cover including a lower cover and an upper cover.

For example, in Patent Document 1, a cylindrical oil level gauge holding portion into which an oil level gauge is inserted is formed in the upper head cover of the cylinder head cover divided into two vertically, and the oil level gauge is held in the lower head cover. A configuration in which a gauge hole continuous with the level gauge insertion hole of the part is formed through is disclosed.

However, in Patent Document 1, such a joint point between the upper head cover and the lower head cover is not set around the cylindrical oil level gauge holding portion. For this reason, it is difficult to hold the oil level gauge holding part at the expected position and in the desired shape, and the oil level gauge holding part is attached to the center axis of the oil level gauge holding part, the center axis of the level gauge insertion hole formed in the lower head cover, and the cylinder head There is a possibility that the insertion property of the oil level gauge is deteriorated due to a deviation from the center axis of the formed level gauge insertion hole.

That is, in the cylinder head cover as disclosed in Patent Document 1, sufficient examination has been made on how to set the joint point between the upper head cover and the lower head cover around the oil level gauge holding portion. However, there is room for improvement in installing the oil level gauge insert.

The oil level gauge insertion portion structure of the present invention is formed in a cylinder head cover including a lower cover fixed to the cylinder head and an upper cover joined to the upper surface of the lower cover. A cylindrical upper insertion cylinder provided in the upper cover, into which an oil level gauge is inserted, a ridge wall projecting from the upper cover side around the upper insertion cylinder toward the upper surface side of the lower cover, A cylindrical lower insertion cylinder provided in the lower cover and into which the upper insertion cylinder is inserted, and an upper end of the lower insertion cylinder and the upper cover between the upper insertion cylinder and the protruding wall. Are joined, and the outer peripheral side of the joined portion between the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder and the upper cover is covered with the protruding wall, and the inner circumference side is the upper insertion cylinder Therefore, it is characterized in that it is covered.

The upper end of the lower insertion tube may be joined to the upper cover so as to be continuous over the entire circumference.

According to the present invention, the joint portion between the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder and the upper cover can be covered using the wall surface of the upper insertion cylinder. Therefore, the upper insertion cylinder has a structure that covers the joint between the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder and the upper cover, rather than using the upper insertion cylinder to cover the joint between the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder and the upper cover. Can be reduced in the radial direction.

The top view of the cylinder head cover to which the oil level gauge insertion part structure which concerns on this invention was applied. It is sectional drawing which shows the oil level gauge insertion part structure of 1st Example of this invention, and sectional drawing along the AA line of FIG. Sectional drawing which shows the oil level gauge insertion part structure of a 1st comparative example. Sectional drawing which shows the oil level gauge insertion part structure of a 2nd comparative example. Sectional drawing which shows the oil level gauge insertion part structure of 2nd Example of this invention.

Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a plan view of a cylinder head cover 1 to which the oil level gauge insertion portion structure of the present invention is applied. The cylinder head cover 1 in this embodiment is applied to an inline three-cylinder internal combustion engine.

The cylinder head cover 1 is made of a resin material, and generally includes a lower cover 2 and an upper cover 3 that is slightly smaller than the lower cover. A plug insertion hole 4 into which a spark plug (not shown) is inserted is formed in the center of the cylinder head cover 1 so as to penetrate the lower cover 2 and the upper cover 3 along the cylinder row direction.

The lower cover 2 is molded and has an elongated rectangular deep dish shape. A flange-like flange 5 attached to the cylinder head is formed on the entire outer periphery of the lower cover 2.

The upper cover 3 is molded, has an elongated rectangular shallow dish shape, and is joined to the upper surface of the lower cover 2 by vibration welding.

The cylinder head cover 1 has an oil separator 6 that separates oil mist in blow-by gas. The oil mist separator 6 uses a space along the cylinder row direction defined by the lower cover 2 and the upper cover 3, and is formed at two locations on both sides of the three plug insertion holes 4.

In this embodiment, an oil level gauge insertion portion 7 into which an oil level gauge is inserted is formed so as to penetrate up and down one oil mist separator 6a.

As shown in FIG. 2, the oil level gauge insertion portion 7 of the first embodiment of the present invention includes an upper insertion cylinder 11 and a ridge wall 12 formed on the upper cover 3 side, and a lower formed on the lower cover 2 side. And an insertion tube 13. FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along line AA in FIG.

The upper insertion cylinder 11 is a cylinder into which an oil level gauge (not shown) is inserted, and the inner peripheral surface is tapered so that the inner diameter becomes smaller toward the cylinder head side (lower side in FIG. 2). Is formed.

The ridge wall 12 has a substantially rectangular cross section, protrudes from the upper cover 3 by a predetermined length toward the upper surface side of the lower cover 2, and is formed in an annular shape so as to be continuous over the entire circumference of the upper insertion cylinder 11. .

The lower insertion cylinder 13 has a cylindrical shape into which the upper insertion cylinder 11 is inserted, and the upper cover 3 is continuously extended over the entire circumference between the upper insertion cylinder 11 and the ridge wall 12. Are joined by vibration welding. That is, the upper cover 3 and the lower cover 2 are joined at a position near the outer peripheral side of the upper insertion cylinder 11. A welding rib 14 is formed on the upper end surface of the lower insertion cylinder 13 so as to protrude over the entire circumference. The welding rib 14 is melted and joined to the upper cover 3 at the time of vibration welding. On the inner peripheral surface of the lower end of the lower insertion cylinder 13, a flange-like flange portion 15 that receives the outer peripheral edge of the lower end of the upper insertion cylinder 11 is formed to project.

2 is an oil level gauge insertion hole formed in the cam bracket 17 on the cylinder head side.

3 and 4 respectively show the oil level gauge insertion portion structure of a comparative example with respect to the present invention. In addition, about the element of the same structure as 1st Example of this invention mentioned above, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected for convenience of explanation, and the overlapping description is abbreviate | omitted.

The oil level gauge insertion part 21 of the first comparative example shown in FIG. 3 has a configuration in which the lower end of a cylindrical upper insertion cylinder 23 formed on the upper cover 3 and the lower cover 2 are joined by vibration welding.

In the lower cover 2 in the first comparative example, an oil level gauge insertion hole 25 into which an oil level gauge is inserted, and a welding rib 26 that is formed in the vicinity of the outer peripheral edge of the oil level gauge insertion hole 25 so as to protrude over the entire circumference. And are formed. The welding rib 26 melts at the time of vibration welding and is joined to the lower end of the upper insertion cylinder 23.

In such a first comparative example, during vibration welding, burrs melted from the welding rib 26 are generated on the inner peripheral side and the outer peripheral side of the joint portion between the welding rib 26 and the upper insertion cylinder 23, respectively. If ribs 27 and 28 for preventing the diffusion of these burrs and concealing the burrs are set on the lower end surface of the upper insertion cylinder 23, the thickness of the upper insertion cylinder 23 increases accordingly. In other words, considering the undercut at the time of molding, the thickness of the upper insertion cylinder 23 is the thickness including the ribs 27 and 28, and sink marks are likely to occur in the upper insertion cylinder 23 when the upper cover 3 is molded. . Therefore, the shape of the upper insertion cylinder 23 into which the oil level gauge is inserted may not be stable.

Further, in the first comparative example, since the welding rib 26 is joined to the upper insertion cylinder 23, a large holding force (pressing force) acts on the upper insertion cylinder 23 during vibration welding. Also in this respect, it is necessary to increase the thickness of the upper insertion cylinder 23, and sinking is likely to occur in the upper insertion cylinder 23.

The oil level gauge insertion portion 31 of the second comparative example shown in FIG. 4 is formed on the outer peripheral side of the cylindrical upper insertion tube 33 formed on the upper cover 3 and the cylindrical lower insertion tube 35 formed on the lower cover 2. The upper end and the upper cover 3 are joined by vibration welding.

In the second comparative example, two annular projecting walls 36 and 37 project from the outer peripheral side of the upper insertion cylinder 33, and the welding rib 38 projects from the upper end surface of the lower insertion cylinder 35 over the entire circumference. Is formed. The welding rib 38 at the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder 35 is joined to the upper cover 3 between the ridge walls 36 and 37 that are melted during vibration welding and located outside the upper insertion cylinder 33.

In such a second comparative example, during vibration welding, burrs melted from the welding rib 38 are generated on the inner peripheral side and the outer peripheral side of the joint portion between the welding rib 38 and the upper cover 3, respectively. These burrs are prevented from spreading by the two protruding walls 36 and 37 provided on the upper cover 3 and can be covered.

However, it is necessary to provide two protruding walls 36 and 37 with a space outside the upper insertion cylinder 33, and when these two protruding walls 36 and 37 are included, the oil level gauge insertion portion 31 is formed. The required space for the cylinder head increases, and the degree of freedom in designing the cylinder head cover 1 may be reduced.

On the other hand, in the oil level gauge insertion portion 7 of the first embodiment described above, the joint portion between the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder 13 and the upper cover 3 can be covered using the wall surface of the upper insertion cylinder 11. Therefore, the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder 13 is compared with the case where the joint between the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder 13 and the upper cover 3 is covered without using the upper insertion cylinder 11 (for example, the second comparative example described above). The structure that covers the joint portion with the upper cover 3 can be reduced in the radial direction of the upper insertion cylinder 11. That is, the degree of freedom in design around the upper insertion cylinder 11 can be improved. For example, even when the position of the upper insertion cylinder 11 overlaps with the oil mist separator 6 formed on the back side of the cylinder head cover 1 as in the first embodiment, the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder 13 and the upper cover 3 can be reduced in the radial direction of the upper insertion cylinder 11, so that a sufficient volume of the oil mist separator 8 can be secured, and performance deterioration of the oil mist separator 8 can be prevented. be able to.

In addition, compared with a configuration in which the lower end of the upper insertion cylinder 11 is joined to the lower cover 2 (for example, the first comparative example described above), the thickness of the upper insertion cylinder 11 can be set relatively thin. The occurrence of sink marks in the insertion tube 11 can be suppressed. Therefore, the dimensional accuracy of the upper insertion cylinder 11 can be improved, and the insertability and sealability of the oil level gauge can be improved.

Then, by joining the upper cover 3 and the lower cover 2 at a position in the vicinity of the outer peripheral side of the upper insertion cylinder 11, the cylindrical upper insertion cylinder 11 can be easily held at the desired position and in the desired shape. Deviation between the central axis of the insertion cylinder 11 and the central axis of the oil level gauge insertion hole 16 on the cylinder head side is suppressed, and the insertability of the oil level gauge is improved.

FIG. 5 shows an oil level gauge insertion portion 41 in the second embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view corresponding to the position along the line AA in FIG.

The oil level gauge insertion portion 41 of the second embodiment has substantially the same configuration as the oil level gauge insertion portion 7 of the first embodiment described above, but the welding rib 14 and the upper cover 3 at the distal end of the lower insertion cylinder 13. The burr melted out from the welding rib generated on the inner peripheral side of the joint portion with the upper portion is not located on the wall surface of the upper insertion cylinder 11 in a part of the section, but on the upper insertion cylinder 11 side (inner peripheral side) rather than the ridge wall 12. The second ridge wall 42 is covered and hidden. Further, in the section where the second protruding wall 42 is provided, the flange portion 15 of the lower insertion cylinder 13 is also cut away.

When the layout restriction around the oil level gauge insertion portion 41 is not the entire outer circumference of the upper insertion cylinder 11, the upper cover 3 is provided in a partial section along the circumferential direction of the upper insertion cylinder 11 outside the upper insertion cylinder 11. A second rib wall 42 protruding from the second rib wall 42 may be provided, and the welding rib 14 may be joined to the upper cover 3 between the rib wall 12 and the second rib wall 42 in the partial section.

In the oil level gauge insertion portion 41 of the second embodiment as described above, it is possible to obtain substantially the same effect as the oil level gauge insertion portion of the first embodiment described above.

In each of the above-described embodiments, the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder 13 is continuously welded to the upper cover 3 over the entire circumference. For example, the oil level gauge insertion parts 7 and 41 In the case where a part is set at a position away from the oil mist separator 6, the upper end of the lower insertion cylinder 13 may be intermittently joined (welded) to the upper cover 3.
