Description
The present invention relates to a connection box for an optical fiber composite ground wire that accommodates a connection portion between optical fibers of an optical fiber composite ground wire (OPGW). In particular, a connection box for an optical fiber composite ground wire that can be suitably used to connect optical fibers of an optical fiber composite ground wire (pipeless OPGW) in which an optical cable is accommodated in the ground wire without using a metal pipe. About.
The OPGW includes a metal pipe, an optical cable accommodated in the interior thereof with a space therebetween, and a ground wire composed of a plurality of strands arranged on the outer periphery of the metal pipe. The optical cable includes a tension member (TM), a plurality of optical fiber units arranged on the outer periphery of the TM, and a sheath that covers the TM and the optical fiber unit together. Each optical fiber unit includes a plurality of optical fiber core wires.
In addition, the same document discloses a connection box for connecting the end portions of the OPGW. This junction box includes a container-shaped main body, an OPGW gripping metal that grips the ground wire of each OPGW outside the main body, and a TM clamp that fixes the TM of the optical cable inside the main body. The metal pipe, the sheath, and the TM are sequentially and gradually exposed from the ground line and introduced into the main body, and each optical fiber unit is branched from the TM. The optical fiber cores of each optical fiber unit are connected to each other, and the extra length of the optical fiber core including the connecting portion is stored in the main body. In this junction box, only TM is gripped by the TM clamp in the junction box, and the metal pipe and the optical fiber unit are not gripped.
In the conventional OPGW, when the ground wire or the metal pipe corrodes, the corrosion product itself may press the optical cable, or the metal pipe deformed by the corrosion product may press the optical cable. As a result, the transmission loss of the optical fiber (hereinafter simply referred to as transmission loss) may increase. In addition, when a hole is opened in the metal pipe due to corrosion, water (rain water) may enter the metal pipe through the hole. When the water expands with freezing, the optical cable may be pressed and transmission loss may increase. Therefore, even if the above-mentioned corrosion phenomenon occurs, as an OPGW structure that avoids transmission loss, a pipeless optical fiber composite aerial ground in which an optical cable with improved pressure resistance is housed in a ground line without a metal pipe A line has been proposed. This pipeless OPGW optical cable has a mass per unit length that is about 200% heavier than a conventional OPGW optical cable. In addition, the pipeless OPGW optical cable is thicker than the conventional OPGW optical cable from the viewpoint of improving weather resistance, but the sheath is thinner than a general outdoor optical cable. A suitable connection box for connecting the ends of such pipeless OPGWs has not been proposed.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and one of its purposes is to provide a connection box for OPGW that can be suitably used for connecting ends of pipeless OPGWs.
The present inventors tried to connect the ends of the pipeless OPGW using the conventional junction box as described above. Specifically, the optical cable was pulled out from the end of the ground line of the pipeless OPGW, a predetermined length of TM was exposed from the optical cable, and the TM was gripped. However, since the pipeless OPGW optical cable is heavier than the conventional OPGW optical cable as described above, in a structure in which only the TM is gripped, if the optical cable is pushed up, the TM may be buckled (damaged). It turns out that there is.
In general, when the ground wire is stretched due to snow or wind load, OPGW has a tensile force acting on the optical cable. On the other hand, when the OPGW is cooled and the ground wire contracts, the optical cable bends and push-up force acts. The specification of the conventional junction box has a structure in which only the TM is gripped against the push-up force and no problem occurs with the buckling strength of the TM. Since the pipeless OPGW optical cable is heavier than the conventional OPGW optical cable, there is a case where a larger push-up force acts on the TM as compared with the conventional optical cable. If it does so, in TM of the same size as TM of the optical cable in the conventional OPGW etc., there exists a possibility that TM may buckle because the buckling strength is insufficient. Further, when the optical cable bends due to the push-up force, the TM is bent and becomes more easily buckled. If TM is buckled, the end of the optical cable is not held in the junction box. As a result, the optical fiber cannot be normally held in the junction box, and the optical fiber may be broken. In addition, there is no metal pipe between the optical cable and the ground wire. When a tensile force or push-up force is applied to the optical cable, the optical cable may come into contact with the inner periphery of the end of the ground wire and damage the optical cable. There is.
The present inventors tried trial and error for connection boxes having various configurations in addition to the conventional connection box. As a result, the optical cable itself is not directly held by a metal fitting, but is a connection box that is indirectly held by interposing a specific member. It was found that the movement can be prevented and an increase in transmission loss can be suppressed because an excessive gripping force does not act on the optical cable. Based on this knowledge, the present invention is defined below.
The connection box for OPGW of the present invention is an optical fiber composite ground wire comprising a ground wire having a cylindrical storage space at the center of an assembly in which a plurality of strands are twisted together, and an optical cable disposed in the storage space. It is for connecting the edge parts of. This junction box is interposed between the optical cable gripping bracket and the optical cable gripping bracket that are disposed integrally with the junction box and grips the optical cable, and suppresses the movement of the optical cable in the axial direction by the gripping force of the optical cable gripping bracket. And an elastic member. This optical cable is disposed in the ground storage space without a metal pipe, and the tension member (TM), a plurality of optical fiber units disposed on the outer periphery of the TM, and the TM and the optical fiber unit are bundled together. And a sheath having a thickness of less than 1.5 mm.
According to said structure, it can prevent that an optical cable moves to an axial direction by providing an optical cable holding metal fitting and holding an optical cable itself. Therefore, there is no TM buckling, which is a problem when gripping only the TM described above, and there is no movement in the axial direction of the optical cable accompanying TM buckling. Therefore, the optical fiber can be prevented from being broken, and contact between the optical cable and the inner peripheral edge of the end of the ground wire can be prevented, thereby preventing damage to the optical cable.
Holding the optical cable via the elastic member in the junction box of the present invention is particularly effective for suppressing an increase in transmission loss of the optical cable. Since the sheath of the optical cable connected by the junction box of the present invention is thinner than the sheath of a general outdoor optical cable used for applications other than OPGW, transmission loss tends to increase due to external pressure. In particular, when the optical cable is directly gripped by the gripping bracket, the gripping force directly acts on the optical cable, which tends to increase transmission loss. In that respect, if the optical cable is gripped via the elastic member, the elastic member acts as a cushion to grip the optical cable, so that it is difficult to increase transmission loss. In addition, since the elastic member is easily deformed, a contact area with the optical cable is easily secured, so that the optical cable can be reliably held with a smaller gripping force.
As one form of the connection box for OPGW of the present invention, the optical cable gripping metal fitting is configured so that the opposing surfaces facing each other for gripping the optical cable and the distance between the opposing surfaces are regulated, so that the optical member in the radial direction of the elastic member And a stopper portion that suppresses the application of excessive gripping force.
According to said structure, since a stopper part can prevent the addition of the grip force more than fixed to an elastic member (optical cable), it can suppress that an excessive grip force is added to an optical cable.
As one form of the connection box for OPGW of the present invention, the optical cable holding bracket includes a guide portion that suppresses the deformation of the elastic member in the axial direction by contacting the both ends of the elastic cable in the axial direction of the optical cable. Can be mentioned.
According to said structure, since it can prevent that an elastic member deform | transforms into the said axial direction and radial direction by a guide part, the increase in the deformation amount of elastic member itself can be suppressed. Therefore, it is possible to sufficiently obtain the gripping force of the optical cable while suppressing an increase in the deformation amount of the elastic member. Moreover, since the increase in the deformation amount of the elastic member can be suppressed, permanent deformation of the elastic member can also be suppressed, so that the gripping force does not decrease over a long period of time, and the optical cable can be gripped with an appropriate gripping force. If the elastic member is deformed until it protrudes from the optical cable gripping bracket, the gripping force via the elastic member by the optical cable gripping bracket cannot be sufficiently applied to the optical cable at the portion protruding from the optical cable gripping bracket. On the other hand, by providing the guide portion as described above, pressure can be applied uniformly over the entire contact surface with the elastic member of the optical cable.
As one form of the connection box for OPGW of the present invention, it is possible to provide a TM gripping bracket for gripping TM. At that time, it is preferable that the distance between the optical cable holding bracket and the TM holding bracket is 20 mm or more and 30 mm or less.
According to said structure, TM can also be stably hold | maintained at a junction box. Even if the holding of the optical cable by the optical cable holding metal fitting is loosened, the movement of the optical cable in the axial direction can be suppressed to some extent by the TM holding. And it is easy to handle the optical fiber unit by setting the distance between the holding fittings to 20 mm or more, and it is easy to make the junction box small by setting the distance between the holding fittings to 30 mm or less.
As one form of the connection box for OPGW of this invention, it is mentioned that the hardness of an elastic member is 30 degree | times or more and 90 degree | times or less in type A durometer hardness.
According to said structure, an optical cable can be hold | gripped with sufficient holding | grip force because the hardness of an elastic member shall be 30 degree | times or more. On the other hand, by setting the hardness of the elastic member to 90 degrees or less, it is possible to suppress application of excessive gripping force to the optical cable. Therefore, deformation of the optical cable can be suppressed, and an increase in transmission loss can be suppressed.
As one form of the connection box for OPGW of this invention, the holding length of the optical cable in an optical cable holding metal fitting is 10 mm or more and 30 mm or less.
According to said structure, since the addition of the local gripping force to an optical cable can be suppressed by making grip length into 10 mm or more, an increase in transmission loss is not caused. On the other hand, by setting the grip length to 30 mm or less, it is possible to grip uniformly over the entire grip length of the optical cable. In addition, since the space for arranging the gripping metal can be secured in the junction box, the junction box does not become large.
The connection box for OPGW of the present invention can achieve both an appropriate gripping force for an optical cable and a low transmission loss of the optical cable, and can be suitably used for connecting pipeless OPGW optical fibers.

As for the pulling force of the

On the other hand, the
From the above test results and calculation results, it can be seen that if the

The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and can be modified as appropriate without departing from the gist of the present invention. For example, the number of strands, the number of layers, the number of optical fiber units, and the number of optical fiber cores can be changed as appropriate. Further, the optical cable can be gripped outside the connection box. Specifically, the pipeless OPGW optical cable is exposed from the ground line, and the exposed portion of the optical cable and the ground line are individually gripped by metal fittings protruding outward from the side wall of the connection box. In that case, the above-mentioned elastic member is interposed between the optical cable and the metal fitting.
The connection box for OPGW of the present invention can be suitably used for connection of an OPGW in which an optical cable having a thin sheath thickness is accommodated in the ground wire without using a metal tube.
