Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be specifically described with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram showing a configuration of an electrochemical reactor according to an embodiment of the present invention.
In the electrochemical reactor according to the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, an yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ)
Here, the operation of the electrochemical reactor according to the present embodiment will be described. In this electrochemical reactor, a voltage of about 1 V to 5 V is applied between the anode electrode 1 and the
When CO 2 gas is supplied toward the
2CO 2 + 2Ni → 2CO + 2NiO (11)
2NiO + 4e − → 2Ni + 2O 2− (12)
2CO + 2Ni → 2NiO + 2C (13)
Therefore, in the
2CO 2 + 2Ni + 4e − → 2NiO + 2C + 2O 2− (14)
Oxide ions (O 2− ) generated by this reduction reaction pass through the
Ru + 2O 2- → RuO 2 + 4e − (15)
2O 2− → O 2 + 4e − (16)
Here, when the reaction ratio of the formula (15) is x (0 ≦ x ≦ 1), the reaction ratio of the formula (16) is (1-x). Therefore, when the reaction ratio x is taken into consideration, the reactions of the equations (15) to (16) are represented by the equations (15 ′) to (16 ′), and the reaction shown in the equation (17) is performed at the anode electrode 1. Will occur.
xRu + 2xO 2− → xRuO 2 + 4xe − (15 ′)
2 (1-x) O 2- → (1-x) O 2 +4 (1-x) e − (16 ′)
xRu + 2O 2- → xRuO 2 + (1-x) O 2 + 4e − (17)
Therefore, when CO 2 gas is supplied, the reaction formula of the total reaction in this electrochemical reactor is expressed by equation (18). An outline of this reaction is shown in FIG.
2CO 2 + 2Ni + xRu → (1-x) O 2 + 2C + 2NiO + xRuO 2 (18)
That is, if this electrochemical reactor is used, C and O 2 gas can be generated from CO 2 gas as in photosynthesis. When the reaction ratio x is 0, the reaction of 2CO 2 + 2Ni → O 2 + 2C + 2NiO proceeds. When the reaction ratio x is 1, the reaction of 2CO 2 + 2Ni + Ru → 2C + 2NiO + RuO 2 proceeds.
Further, when the CO gas is supplied toward the
2CO + 2Ni → 2NiO + 2C (21)
2NiO + 4e − → 2Ni + 2O 2− (22)
Therefore, the reaction shown in the equation (23) occurs at the
2CO + 4e − → 2C + 2O 2− (23)
Oxide ions (O 2− ) generated by this reduction reaction pass through the
2O 2- → O 2 + 4e - ··· (24)
Ru + 2O 2- → RuO 2 + 4e - ··· (25)
Further, when CO gas also reaches the anode electrode 1, the reaction shown in the equation (26) occurs in the anode electrode 1 accompanying the reaction in the equation (25). The sum of equation (25) and equation (26) gives equation (27).
RuO 2 + 2CO → Ru + 2CO 2 (26)
2O 2- + 2CO → 2CO 2 + 4e - ··· (27)
Here, if the reaction rate of the formula (24) is y (0 ≦ y ≦ 1), the reaction rate of the formula (27) is (1-y). Therefore, when the reaction ratio y is taken into account, the reactions of the equations (24) and (27) are represented by the equations (24 ′) and (27 ′). In the anode electrode 1, the reaction shown in the equation (28) occurs from the sum of the equations (24 ′) and (27 ′).
2yO 2− → yO 2 + 4ye − (24 ′)
2 (1-y) O 2- +2 (1-y) CO → 2 (1-y) CO 2 +4 (1-y) e − (27 ′)
2O 2- +2 (1-y) CO → yO 2 +2 (1-y) CO 2 + 4e − (28)
Therefore, when CO gas is supplied, the reaction formula of the total reaction in this electrochemical reactor is expressed by the formula (29) from the formulas (23) and (28). An outline of this reaction is shown in FIG.
2 (2-y) CO → yO 2 + 2C + 2 (1-y) CO 2 (29)
That is, if this electrochemical reactor is used, C, CO 2 gas and O 2 gas can be generated from CO gas. Then, from the CO 2 gas generated by this reaction, C and O 2 gas can be generated by the process as shown in FIG. When the reaction ratio y is 0, the reaction of 4CO → 2C + 2CO 2 (that is, 2CO → C + CO 2 ) proceeds. When the reaction ratio y is 1, the reaction of 2CO → O 2 + 2C proceeds. That is, the reaction when the reaction ratio y is 0 is the same as the CO disproportionation reaction.
Next, a method for producing the electrochemical reactor as described above will be described. FIG. 3 is a diagram showing a method for producing an electrochemical reactor.
First, a temporary sintered body for the anode electrode 1 and a temporary sintered body for the
In the preparation of the calcined powder for the anode electrode 1, the RuO 2 powder and the YSZ electrolyte powder are mixed in a volume ratio of Ru: YSZ = 30: 70 in terms of Ru amount, and a suspension of this mixture ( Suspension). The stirring time for producing this suspension is, for example, 6 hours. The amount of solid in this suspension is about 30% by volume. Next, the pH of the suspension is adjusted to, for example, 10 using a 13N NH 4 OH solution. Thereafter, freeze-drying is performed, and further, calcination at 800 ° C. for 1 hour and calcination at 1000 ° C. for 2 hours are performed in this order. As a result, a RuO 2 —YSZ calcined powder is obtained as the calcined powder for the anode electrode 1.
In the preparation of the pre-sintered body for the
Then, the calcined powder of YSZ electrolyte is sandwiched between the calcined powder for the anode electrode 1 and the calcined powder for the

The material of the anode electrode is not limited to the above as long as Ru and YSZ are included. For example, you may be comprised from the mixture of metal Ru or Ru oxide, and YSZ. Furthermore, two or more of metal Ru, Ru oxide and SrRuO 3 may be contained.
The cathode material is not limited to the above as long as it contains Ni and YSZ.
Next, experiments conducted by the present inventors will be described.
(First experiment)
In the first experiment, as shown in FIG. 4, an
The
The anode electrode 11 was 5 mm thick, the
As shown in FIG. 5, in the measurement (A), the flow rate of the outlet gas was larger than that in the measurement (B), and in any case, the decrease in the gas flow rate, that is, the gas blockage was not observed over 10 hours or more. Further, as shown in FIG. 6, the outlet gas in either the, O 2 produced by the reforming of CO 2, and was composed of the regenerated CO 2 in an electrochemical reactor. Regenerating CO 2 is (11), represented by the sum of (12) and (16), CO 2 is reproduced from the CO and O 2. Further, the proportion of O 2 was higher as the reforming temperature was higher. That is, in the measurement (A), when the reforming temperature is 800 ° C., the O 2 ratio is 4% to 27% (average value 15%), and the CO 2 ratio is 73% to 96% (average value 85). %). In measurement (B), when the reforming temperature was 800 ° C., the average value of the O 2 ratio was 39%, and the average value of the CO 2 ratio was 61%. Thus, the ratio of O 2 was larger in the measurement (B) where the flow rate of the outlet gas was smaller than in the measurement (A). Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 7, the higher the reforming temperature, that is, the higher the O 2 ratio, the higher the current density. Note that no gas other than CO 2 and O 2 was detected in either measurement (A) or measurement (B).
In the measurement (A), after the modification at 800 ° C., substances adhering to the surfaces of the anode electrode 11 and the
FIG. 10 shows the distribution of elements contained in the
FIG. 11 shows the distribution of elements contained in the electrolyte membrane 13, and FIG. 12 shows the distribution of elements contained in the anode electrode 11. The distribution of these elements is the result of analysis with an X-ray microanalyzer. As shown in FIGS. 11 and 12, although the amount was small, the deposition of C was also clearly recognized in the electrolyte membrane 13 and the anode electrode 11.
(Second experiment)
In the second experiment, a voltage of 1 V was applied between the anode electrode 11 and the
2CO → C + CO 2 (2)
As shown in FIG. 13, a decrease in gas flow rate, that is, no gas blockage was observed during the 8 hour experiment. As shown in FIG. 14, the outlet gas was composed of O 2 and CO 2 produced by reforming CO and unreacted CO. Further, the proportion of O 2 was higher as the reforming temperature was higher. That is, when the reforming temperature was 800 ° C., the ratio of O 2 was 67% to 80%, and this value was higher than when the reforming temperature was 700 ° C. or lower. On the other hand, the higher the reforming temperature, the higher the proportion of CO 2 . Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 15, the higher the reforming temperature, that is, the higher the O 2 ratio, the higher the current density.
Further, after the modification at 400 ° C., the substances adhering to the surfaces of the anode electrode 11 and the
FIG. 17 shows the C amount distribution in the stacking direction of the anode electrode 11, the electrolyte membrane 13, and the
(Third experiment)
In the third experiment, the time dependency and reproducibility of the reforming reaction of CO were investigated. Specifically, after applying a voltage of 1 V between the anode electrode 11 and the
As shown in FIG. 18, the outlet gas was composed of O 2 and CO 2 produced by reforming CO and unreacted CO. It was also confirmed that CO reforming (decomposition) occurred continuously over 5 hours.
Further, after the reaction for 5 hours, Ar having an oxygen partial pressure of 10 -17 Pa was introduced for cooling, and then the distribution of elements contained in the
As shown in FIGS. 19 to 21, it is clear that carbon is deposited in any of the

Here, the mechanism of the CO reforming reaction on the surface of the YSZ particles constituting the electrolyte membrane 13 will be described. FIG. 22 is a schematic diagram showing the mechanism of CO reforming reaction on the surface of YSZ particles.
