Abstract
【解決手段】点火コイルを介して点火プラグ13に高電圧を印加し、点火プラグ13に生じる火花放電により燃焼室内の混合気に着火して燃焼させる膨張行程において、同膨張行程の終期に訪れる排気バルブ16の開弁タイミングの前に燃焼室内にマイクロ波電界を発生させ、燃焼室内でプラズマを生成、成長させるようにした。マイクロ波を放射するアンテナ17は、気筒1における上死点と下死点との中間点よりも下死点側に配設する。

- 気筒におけるピストンの上死点から下死点へと向かうストロークの中間点よりも下死点側の領域に、マイクロ波若しくは高周波を放射するアンテナを設けた火花点火式内燃機関。
