Abstract
Description
Claims (20)
- エアバッグ用インフレータであって、
第1端部及び第2端部を有し、且つ空洞を画定するハウジングと、
前記ハウジング内に配置されて燃焼ガスを発生させることにより前記エアバッグを膨張させるガス発生剤であって、ボアを画定するガス発生剤と、
前記空洞を一時的に密閉する仮閉鎖部材と、
前記ガス発生剤に点火して燃焼ガスを発生させ、衝撃波を発生させて前記ボアを通って伝播させ、且つ仮閉鎖部材を開放する点火具と
を備えるインフレータ。 - 前記ハウジングが空洞を画定しており、前記インフレータが更に、前記ハウジングの空洞内に第1温度で貯留されて前記エアバッグを最初に膨張させる圧縮ガスを含んでいる、請求項1に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記ガス発生剤に点火することにより、前記第1温度よりも高い第2温度で前記燃焼ガスを発生させる、請求項2に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記仮閉鎖部材が開放されると、前記第1温度の圧縮ガスが前記エアバッグに流入して前記エアバッグが膨張し始める、請求項3に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記エアバッグと組み合わせた請求項1に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記エアバッグが、側面衝撃吸収エアバッグ、サイドカーテンエアバッグ、前部衝撃吸収エアバッグ、又は膝部分エアバッグである、請求項5に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記ボアが、前記ガス発生剤の第1端部から第2端部まで延在し、且つ前記ガス発生剤の中心軸にほぼ沿って延在する、請求項1に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記ボアが、約4.5ミリメートル〜約9.0ミリメートルの直径を有する、請求項6に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記圧縮ガスが、前記チャンバ内に、約6500パウンド/平方インチ〜約8500パウンド/平方インチの圧力で貯留される、請求項2に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記ガス発生剤がモノリシックな粒子である、請求項1に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記エアバッグと組み合わせたインフレータであって、
空洞を画定し、且つ第1端部及び第2端部を有するハウジングと、
前記チャンバ内に第1温度で正常に保持される圧縮ガスと、
前記チャンバ内に配置される可燃性材料から成り、且つ貫通ボアを画定するガス発生剤と、
前記エアバッグの膨張前に前記空洞を前記エアバッグから密閉する仮閉鎖部材と、
前記ハウジング内に配置され、且つ前記仮閉鎖部材を開放して、前記第1温度の圧縮ガスの少なくとも一部を空洞から前記エアバッグ内に放出させることができる点火具であって、更に、前記ガス発生剤に点火して第2温度で燃焼ガスを発生させるように作動する点火具と
を備えるインフレータ。 - 前記仮閉鎖部材がバーストディスクであり、前記点火具が点火されると前記バーストディスクを破断する衝撃波が発生する、請求項11に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記エアバッグが側面衝撃吸収エアバッグである、請求項11に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記貫通ボアが、前記ガス発生剤の第1端部からガス発生剤の第2端部まで延在し、且つ前記ガス発生剤の中心軸にほぼ沿って延在する、請求項11に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記貫通ボアが、約4.5ミリメートル〜約9.0ミリメートルの直径を有している、請求項14に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記圧縮ガスが、前記チャンバ内に約6500パウンド/平方インチ〜約8500パウンド/平方インチの圧力で貯留される、請求項11に記載のインフレータ。
- 前記ガス発生剤がモノリシックな粒子である、請求項11に記載のインフレータ。
- エアバッグを膨張させる方法であって、
信号を受信すると反応性充填剤に点火する工程と、
反応性充填剤への点火により発生する衝撃波で仮閉鎖部材を開放する工程と、
ガス発生剤を貫通して延在するボアを通して反応性充填剤を伝播させることにより仮閉鎖部材を開放する工程と、
ガス発生剤に点火する工程と、
仮閉鎖部材の開放により形成される開口部を通過するガスでエアバッグを膨張させる工程と
を含む方法。 - エアバッグを膨張させる工程が、更に、
第1温度の圧縮ガスをガス発生剤に近接して貯留する工程と、
最初に、第1温度の圧縮ガスの少なくとも一部でエアバッグを膨張させる工程と、
第2温度で燃焼ガスを発生させる工程と、
燃焼ガスでエアバッグを更に膨張させる工程と
を含む、請求項18に記載の方法。 - エアバッグを膨張させる工程が、更に、
サイドカーテンエアバッグを膨張させる工程
を含む、請求項18に記載の方法。
