Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a belt unit used in an image forming apparatus such as a printer, a facsimile machine, and a copying machine, an image forming apparatus including the belt unit, and a cleaning unit attaching / detaching method.
As this type of image forming apparatus, there is a tandem type image forming apparatus in which four photosensitive drums as image bearing members are juxtaposed along a horizontally stretched portion of an endless belt-like intermediate transfer belt. Are known. In this image forming apparatus, toner images of different colors are formed on four photosensitive drums, and the toner images on the photosensitive drums are superimposed on the intermediate transfer belt for primary transfer, and then superimposed on the intermediate transfer belt. The combined toner images are collectively transferred onto transfer paper. After the toner image is transferred from the intermediate transfer belt to the transfer paper, the toner remaining on the intermediate transfer belt is removed from the surface of the intermediate transfer belt by the cleaning device.
In the image forming apparatus described in Patent Document 1, a cleaning device is disposed to face the upper surface of the intermediate transfer belt. In this image forming apparatus, the cleaning blade is looked out from the opening formed in the housing of the cleaning device, and the cleaning blade is brought into contact with the upper surface of the intermediate transfer belt. The toner removed from the upper surface of the intermediate transfer belt by the cleaning blade is collected in the cleaning device through the opening.
By removing the cleaning device from the main body of the image forming apparatus and replacing it before reaching the end of its service life, good cleaning properties can be ensured. However, when the cleaning device is arranged to face the upper surface of the intermediate transfer belt as in the image forming apparatus described in Patent Document 1, the opening formed in the housing of the cleaning device faces downward so that the cleaning blade can be seen outside. become. For this reason, when the cleaning device is detached from the main body of the image forming apparatus, there is a problem that the toner collected in the cleaning device leaks out of the cleaning device from the opening due to gravity.
The same problems as described above also occur in a cleaning device that cleans a photosensitive belt, which is a belt-like latent image carrier, and a conveyance belt that conveys a transfer material.

The image forming apparatus includes four
In FIG. 2, the
The
Below the
The
The
The
The
The
The primary transfer roller 9 is disposed at a contact portion between the photosensitive drum 1 and the
The
コートに用いる材料としては、ETFE(エチレン−四フッ化エチレン共重合体)、 PTFE(ポリ四フッ化エチレン)、PVDF(フッ化ビニルデン)、PEA(パ−フルオロアルコキシフッ素樹脂)、FEP(四フッ化エチレン−六フッ化プロピレン共重合体)、PVF(フッ化ビニル)等のフッ素樹脂が使用できるが、これに限定されるものではない。
If necessary, a release layer may be coated on the surface of the
The method of manufacturing the
The volume resistivity and surface resistivity were measured by connecting an HRS probe (inner electrode diameter 5.9 [mm], ring electrode inner diameter 11 [mm]) to a high resistivity meter (Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation: Hiresta). Then, a voltage of 100 [V] (surface resistivity is 500 [V]) was applied to the front and back of the
A cleaning blade 10 (cleaning member) made of urethane rubber is pressed against the
The fatty acid metal salt contains at least one fatty acid selected from stearic acid, palmitic acid, myristic acid and oleic acid, and at least one metal selected from zinc, aluminum, calcium, magnesium and lithium The fatty acid metal salt containing is mentioned. Among them, zinc stearate is the most preferable material in terms of cost, quality stability, and reliability because it is produced on an industrial scale and has been used in many fields.
However, the higher fatty acid metal salt generally used industrially is not a single compound composition of its name, but includes other fatty acid metal salts, metal oxides, and free fatty acids that are more or less similar. Fatty acid metal salts are no exception.
These lubricants are supplied in the form of powder in small amounts. As a specific method, the lubricant formed on the block is scraped off and applied by a lubricant application means such as a brush. And a method of supplying the toner externally. However, when the lubricant is supplied externally to the toner, the supply amount depends on the output image area and cannot always be supplied to the entire belt surface. When a lubricant is to be supplied stably, a method of scraping and applying a solid lubricant with a brush as in this embodiment is preferable.
In order to scrape off the
Further, the
The
Further, the
Of the
When pulling out the
The secondary transfer roller 14 is configured by covering a metal core such as stainless steel with an elastic body such as urethane adjusted to a resistance value of 10 6 [Ω] to 10 10 [Ω] by a conductive material. Has been.
Here, if the resistance value of the secondary transfer roller 14 exceeds the above range, it becomes difficult for the current to flow. Therefore, a higher voltage must be applied in order to obtain a required transfer property, resulting in an increase in power supply cost. . In addition, since a high voltage is applied, discharge occurs in the gaps before and after the transfer portion nip, so that white spots are lost due to the discharge on the halftone image. On the contrary, if the resistance value of the secondary transfer roller 14 is below the above range, the transferability between the multi-color image portion (for example, three-color superimposed image) and the single-color image portion existing on the same image cannot be achieved. This is because the resistance value of the secondary transfer roller 14 is low, so that a sufficient current flows to transfer the monochrome image portion at a relatively low voltage. However, it is optimal for the monochrome image portion to transfer the multiple color image portion. Since a voltage value higher than the voltage is required, setting a voltage that can transfer a plurality of color image portions causes an excessive transfer current in a single-color image, resulting in a reduction in transfer efficiency.
The resistance value of the secondary transfer roller 14 is measured by installing the secondary transfer roller 14 on a conductive metal plate and 4.9 [N] on one side at both ends of the core metal (total of 9.8 [N on both sides). ])), And a current value that flows when a voltage of 1000 [V] is applied between the metal core and the metal plate.
The secondary transfer roller 14 is given a driving force by a driving gear (not shown), and its peripheral speed is adjusted to be substantially the same as the peripheral speed of the

The toner used in this example is a polymerized toner produced by a polymerization method. Further, the shape factor SF-1 of the toner used in this embodiment is preferably in the range of 100 to 180, and the shape factor SF-2 is preferably in the range of 100 to 180.
FIG. 4 is a diagram schematically showing the shape of the toner in order to explain the shape factor SF-1, and FIG. 5 is a diagram schematically showing the shape of the toner in order to explain the shape factor SF-2. is there.
The shape factor SF-1 indicates the ratio of the roundness of the toner shape and is expressed by the following formula 1. This is a value obtained by dividing the square of the maximum length MXLNG of the shape formed by projecting the toner on a two-dimensional plane by the figure area AREA and multiplying by 100π / 4.
When the value of SF-1 is 100, the shape of the toner becomes a true sphere, and becomes larger as the value of SF-1 increases.
The shape factor SF-2 indicates the ratio of the unevenness of the toner shape, and is expressed by the following
When the value of SF-2 is 100, there is no unevenness on the toner surface, and as the value of SF-2 increases, the unevenness of the toner surface becomes more prominent.
Specifically, the shape factor is measured by taking a photograph of the toner with a scanning electron microscope (S-800: manufactured by Hitachi, Ltd.), introducing it into an image analyzer (LUSEX 3: manufactured by Nireco) and analyzing it. Calculated. When the shape of the toner is close to a spherical shape, the contact state between the toner and the toner or the toner and the photoconductor becomes a point contact, so that the adsorbing force between the toners becomes weak and the fluidity increases, and the toner and the photoconductor The attraction force becomes weaker and the transfer rate becomes higher. If either of the shape factors SF-1 and SF-2 exceeds 180, the transfer rate is lowered and the cleaning property when attached to the transfer means is also lowered, which is not preferable.
The toner particle size is preferably in the range of 4 [μm] to 10 [μm] in terms of volume average particle size. When the particle size is smaller than this, it becomes a cause of background stains at the time of development, fluidity is deteriorated, and further, aggregation tends to occur, so that voids are likely to occur.
On the other hand, when the particle size is larger than this, it is impossible to obtain a high-definition image due to toner scattering or resolution deterioration. In this example, a toner having a volume average particle diameter of 6.5 [μm] was used.
In the image forming apparatus as described above, when the
[Example 1]
A method of removing the
FIG. 1 shows that the
The
The
Therefore, when removing the
The
The
Therefore, when the
When removing the cleaning
If the
In this embodiment, since the unit
Further, in this configuration, it is possible to prevent the toner from leaking even when the
Further, it is preferable that the
[Example 2]
FIG. 7 is a conceptual diagram when the
The
Holes are provided in the intermediate transfer
Therefore, when removing the
For this reason, when removing the
Further, the
Since other configurations are the same as those in the first embodiment, the description thereof is omitted.
[Example 3]
FIG. 8 is a conceptual diagram showing a mounting portion of the
The configuration is similar to that of the first embodiment, except that the cleaning
The
The
That is, when removing the
For this reason, when removing the
Further, if a decal (seal, mark) or the like instructed to perform the posture of the
Since other configurations are the same as those in the first embodiment, the description thereof is omitted.
In the first embodiment, the second embodiment, and the third embodiment, the
