Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a phenol resin and a method for producing the same.
In recent years, environmental considerations have been studied for phenolic resins widely used as components of adhesives and paints. For example, phenol resins with reduced free monomers and phenol resins that do not generate gas during molding have already been put on the market.
On the other hand, PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) bottles are light, transparent, excellent in gas barrier properties, and high in strength. Along with the rapid increase in the amount of use, the amount of waste has increased and has become a social problem.
PET bottles are collected separately and recycled. However, when the PET resin is regenerated, there is a problem that the molecular weight of the PET decreases due to hydrolysis of the ester bond, and the melt viscosity and mechanical strength of the PET decrease. Therefore, the recycled PET resin is currently used only in the fiber field and the industrial material field.
Therefore, a new utilization method of recycled PET resin is being sought. For example, an alkyd resin (see Patent Document 1, etc.), a polyester resin (see Patent Document 2, etc.), a photocurable urethane resin (see Patent Document 3, etc.), etc., produced using a depolymerization reaction with glycols, respectively It is considered to be used as.
As described above, the conventional recycled PET resin has a problem in that its application is limited due to the deterioration of the characteristics during decomposition.
Then, in view of such a problem, an object of the present invention is to provide a phenol resin that suppresses environmental burden and has good characteristics.

With the phenol resin having such a configuration, it is possible to suppress environmental loads and obtain good characteristics.
In such a phenol resin, recycled polyethylene terephthalate is preferably used as the polyester. By using recycled polyethylene terephthalate as described above, it is possible to suppress the environmental load.
In such an epoxy resin, the polyol preferably contains trimethylolpropane. By using trimethylolpropane, depolymerization can be performed with higher stability.
Furthermore, a thermosetting resin composition can be obtained by mixing such a phenol resin with a thermosetting component having at least one of a plurality of cyclic ether groups and cyclic thioether groups in the molecule. By using recycled polyethylene terephthalate as described above, it is possible to suppress the environmental load.
According to the phenol resin of one embodiment of the present invention and the method for producing the same, it is possible to provide a phenol resin having a favorable characteristic while suppressing environmental burden.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described.
The phenol resin of this embodiment is produced by a step of depolymerizing polyester and a step of reacting the depolymer with a monocarboxylic acid having a phenol group.
First, the polyester is depolymerized. At this time, depolymerization is performed with a polyol having two or more hydroxyl groups in one molecule. Here, it is preferable to depolymerize by adding a liquid polyol to the polyester dissolved by heating without using a solvent. By depolymerization without using a solvent, it is possible to reduce the environmental load such as CO 2 reduction. When the polyol is solid, it can be dissolved by heating and added in liquid form. Moreover, it is preferable to react at about 200-300 degreeC in presence of a depolymerization catalyst.
It does not specifically limit as polyester used for the production | generation of the phenol resin of this embodiment, A well-known polyester can be used. Specifically, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), and polybutylene naphthalate (PBN) can be suitably used.
In particular, recycled PET and recycled PET recovered from waste such as PET bottle waste are preferably used. Recycled PET can be obtained by pulverizing and washing collected PET, and recycled PET can be obtained by washing and pelletizing from the market. As will be described later, it is not necessary to remove water during regeneration, and it can be used at a high concentration.

These polyols can be used alone or in combination of two or more.
At this time, a depolymerization catalyst can be used to promote depolymerization. Examples of the depolymerization catalyst include monobutyltin hydroxide, dibutyltin oxide, monobutyltin-2-ethylhexanoate, dibutyltin dilaurate, stannous oxide, tin acetate, zinc acetate, manganese acetate, cobalt acetate, and calcium acetate. , Lead acetate, antimony trioxide, tetrabutyl titanate, tetraisopropyl titanate and the like.
The use amount of these depolymerization catalysts is usually 0.005 to 5 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the total amount of polyester and polyol. More preferably, it is 0.05 to 3 parts by weight.
Moreover, although it is not a depolymerization catalyst, water can also be used as an additive which accelerates depolymerization. Water is present as an impurity in the recycled PET, and causes a decrease in molecular weight when the PET is recycled. Therefore, it is usually removed by a drying process that consumes very much energy. However, in this embodiment, in order to promote depolymerization, there is no need for removal, and water may be further added. For example, by using recycled PET pellets that are once melt-kneaded in a pellet manufacturing machine such as an extrusion molding machine by adding water, the molecular weight of the recycled PET is low, so depolymerization can be achieved in a short reaction time. Moreover, since the viscosity at the time of melting is low, a high concentration reaction is possible.
In general, the IV value (intrinsic viscosity) of commercially available polyester pellets (virgin) is about 1.0 to 1.2, but the IV value of recycled PET and recycled PET is as low as 0.6 to 0.7. For this reason, the time required for depolymerization can be shortened in recycled PET and recycled PET. Further, the IV value of the re-pellet obtained by re-pelletizing with an extrusion molding machine without removing moisture during the regeneration of PET is as low as about 0.1, but it can be used as it is as the polyester in this embodiment.
Next, a depolymer obtained by depolymerizing the polyester thus obtained with a polyol is reacted with a monocarboxylic acid having a phenol group. At this time, it is preferable to add the monocarboxylic acid which has a phenol group to the depolymer which depolymerized polyester, and to react by about 150 to 250 degreeC in presence of a catalyst.
Examples of the monocarboxylic acid having a phenol group used at this time include 2-hydroxybenzoic acid, 3-hydroxybenzoic acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, 2-amino-3-hydroxyphenylpropionic acid 3,4, and dihydroxyphenylalanine. 3,4,5 trihydroxybenzoic acid and the like.
The obtained phenol resin is an amorphous solid, semi-solid, or fluid liquid with a solid content of 100%, and is preferably solvent-soluble. Such a phenol resin can be used, for example, as a raw material for paints, inks, coating agents, adhesives, and epoxy resins for paper, wood, metal, plastic, glass, and ceramics.
When the phenol resin is 100% solid and semi-solid, it can be suitably used as an adhesive or sealant. Furthermore, by adding an organic solvent or a reactive diluent and adjusting the viscosity, it can be suitably used as various coating agents and paints.
By blending the phenol resin thus obtained together with a thermosetting component having a plurality of cyclic ether groups and / or cyclic thioether groups (hereinafter abbreviated as cyclic (thio) ether groups) in the molecule, A thermosetting composition can be produced.
Such a thermosetting component having a plurality of cyclic (thio) ether groups in the molecule includes either one of a three-, four- or five-membered cyclic ether group or a cyclic thioether group or two kinds of groups in the molecule. For example, a compound having a plurality of epoxy groups in the molecule, that is, a polyfunctional epoxy compound, a compound having a plurality of oxetanyl groups in the molecule, that is, a polyfunctional oxetane compound, a plurality of thioether groups in the molecule The compound which has this, ie, an episulfide resin etc. are mentioned.
