Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an ink jet recording apparatus and an application roller reset method thereof, and more particularly to an ink jet recording apparatus including an application unit for applying a predetermined treatment liquid onto a medium and an application roller reset method thereof.
When an image is printed on a general-purpose printing paper that is not an inkjet-dedicated paper by an inkjet method, feathering, bleeding, etc. occur, and high-quality printing cannot be performed. For this reason, in a system that prints an image on a general-purpose printing paper by an ink jet method, printing is performed by applying a treatment liquid having a function of aggregating ink on the paper before ink ejection.
A roller coating method is known as one method for coating the processing liquid on a sheet. In the roller coating method, a part of the roller immersed in the treatment liquid in the treatment liquid tank is brought into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the rotating application roller, and the treatment liquid is applied to the outer peripheral surface of the application roller. The applied application roller is pressed against the paper to apply the treatment liquid onto the surface of the paper.
However, the roller coating method has a problem that if the waiting time between printing operations is long, moisture evaporates from the processing liquid stored in the processing liquid tank and condensation occurs on the outer peripheral surface of the coating roller. Further, when the printing operation is forcibly stopped for some reason, there is a problem that the processing liquid that has not been applied to the paper remains on the outer peripheral surface of the application roller. When the treatment liquid is applied with the application roller in which such dew condensation or treatment liquid remains, there is a problem that uneven application occurs and high-quality printing cannot be stably performed.
Further, if the treatment liquid is left on the outer peripheral surface of the application roller, the water in the treatment liquid evaporates, the viscosity changes, and the application conditions change.
Patent Document 1 proposes a technique for keeping the application condition constant by keeping the application condition constant by keeping the application roller in contact with the counter roller in the absence of paper during standby or the like.
However, in the method of Patent Document 1, since the application roller is in contact with the counter roller, the processing liquid is transferred to the counter roller, and the processing liquid transferred to the counter roller adheres to the back surface of the paper during printing. There is a drawback that it will.
In the method of Patent Document 1, the processing liquid transferred from the application roller to the counter roller is transferred again to the application roller, and the amount (thickness) of the processing liquid on the application roller cannot be made constant. There is a drawback. As a result, there is a drawback that thick coating of the processing liquid occurs on the paper immediately after the start of printing.
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an ink jet recording apparatus capable of reliably resetting the state of the application roller and always applying the treatment liquid to the surface of the paper under a constant application condition and the application thereof It is an object to provide a roller reset method.

The dot data is generally generated by performing color conversion processing and halftone processing on image data. The color conversion process is a process of converting image data expressed in sRGB or the like (for example, RGB 8-bit image data) into ink amount data of each color of ink used in the inkjet printing apparatus 10 (in this example, C, It is converted into ink amount data for each color of M, Y, and K.) 《塗布ローラのリセット動作》
<Resetting operation of application roller>
<First Embodiment>
As described above, in the
In the roller coating method, if the waiting time between printing operations is long, the water evaporates from the processing liquid stored in the
Therefore, in the
Hereinafter, the reset operation of the
First, a flow of a series of printing operations will be described.
FIG. 6 is a flowchart illustrating a processing procedure of a print job.
When a print job is input (step S10), first, a print preparation operation (cycle up) is performed (step S11). That is, in each part, necessary preparation operations such as movement of the movable part to the normal position and temperature control are performed (for example, movement of the inkjet head, heating of the heater, etc.). After the completion of the printing preparation operation, the paper feeding operation is started (step S12), and the printing operation is started (step S13). That is, the paper P is sequentially fed from the
The reset operation of the
FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing the procedure of the application roller resetting operation. FIG. 8 is a diagram showing the state of the
As shown in FIG. 8A, in the initial state, the
The reset operation of the
When a print preparation operation start command is output, first, the treatment
Next, a blanking operation and a drum cleaning operation are started (step S21). That is, as shown in FIG. 8B, the
The empty coating operation is first performed from the operation of applying the treatment liquid to the
In this way, the
The contact of the
In this way, by cleaning the treatment
The blanking operation and the drum cleaning operation are performed continuously. By continuously performing this blanking operation, the concentration of the processing liquid on the
When the treatment
The
When the treatment
The reset operation of the
As described above, the reset operation is executed during the print preparation operation. Therefore, the number of times of performing blanking (the number of rotations of the treatment liquid coating drum 31) and the number of drum cleanings performed after the completion of blanking are set to the number of times that can be executed during the print preparation operation. For example, when the time required for the print preparation operation is set to around 60 seconds, the blank rotation speed and the drum cleaning rotation speed are set so that the reset operation is completed during the print preparation operation. As an example, it is preferable to set the number of times of blanking to about 10 times and the number of times of drum cleaning to about 20 times (further about 10 times after completion of the blanking). As a result, the state of the
As described above, in the ink
In addition, since the reset operation is performed during the print preparation operation of the apparatus, the apparatus can be operated efficiently.
In the present embodiment, the reset operation is automatically executed during the print preparation operation. However, the reset operation may be executed in a timely manner according to an instruction from the operator.
Further, the operator may arbitrarily set the number of times of blanking performed during the reset operation and the number of drum cleanings performed continuously after blanking. In this case, the number of times of empty coating is set to the number of times that the surface state of the
Further, the rotation speed of the treatment
<Second Embodiment>
In the present embodiment, the drum cleaning is first started at the time of the reset operation, and after the drum cleaning is performed a predetermined number of times, the empty painting is started.
Note that the reset operation is performed during the print preparation operation, which is the same as in the first embodiment. Therefore, only the procedure of the reset operation will be described here.
FIG. 9 is a flowchart showing the procedure of the second embodiment of the reset operation of the application roller. FIG. 10 is a diagram showing the state of the
In the initial state, the
When a print preparation operation start command is output, first, the treatment
Next, a drum cleaning operation is started (step S31). That is, as shown in FIG. 10A, the
When the treatment
Here, since the drum cleaning operation is performed in advance as described above, the entire surface of the treatment
When the treatment
When the treatment
The reset operation of the
As described above, in the present embodiment, drum cleaning is started first, and after drum cleaning is performed a certain number of times, empty painting is started. As a result, it is possible to empty-coat the treatment
Since the reset operation of the present embodiment is also performed during the print preparation operation, the number of drum cleaning operations performed before blanking, the number of blank coatings, and the number of drum cleanings after blanking are determined by the print preparation. Set to the number of times that can be executed during operation.
<Third Embodiment>
In the present embodiment, a predetermined reset operation is performed only when the printing operation stops abnormally (including an emergency stop).
FIG. 11 is a flowchart showing the operation of the ink jet printing apparatus. FIG. 11A shows the operation when printing is normally completed, and FIG. 11B shows the operation when the printer stops abnormally.
As shown in FIG. 5A, when the printing operation is started and the printing operation is normally completed, the
In the standby operation (step S42) of the
In this way, when the printing operation is normally completed, the
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 5B, after the printing operation is started (step S50), if the printing is urgently stopped for some reason (step S51), the reset operation is performed when the printing is resumed (steps S52 to S53). ).
That is, when printing stops abnormally for some reason, this is detected (for example, detected on software), and the printing operation is stopped (step S51). Then, when the cause of the stop is repaired and a print command is issued again (step S52), a reset command is given, and a reset operation is performed when the printing is resumed (step S53).
The reset operation here is the reset operation described in the second embodiment. That is, first, a drum cleaning operation is started, and after the outer peripheral surface of the treatment
Thereafter, the paper feeding operation is resumed and the printing operation is resumed. After the printing is completed, the
As described above, by performing the predetermined reset operation only when the printing operation is abnormally stopped, it is possible to reduce the number of times of performing the blanking operation and to suppress the consumption of the processing liquid.
In the above example, the reset operation is performed by the method described in the second embodiment. However, the reset operation may be performed by the method described in the first embodiment. However, since there is a high possibility that the processing liquid is attached to the processing
In the case of an emergency stop, when a print preparation operation is executed when printing is resumed, it is preferable to perform a reset operation during the print preparation operation. Thereby, the apparatus can be operated efficiently.

<Action>
By providing the cleaning liquid supply unit 308 that supplies the cleaning liquid to the

Next, the cleaning liquid is supplied to the
When cleaning the
As described above, after rinsing and cleaning the
Next, a reset operation is performed. First, the treatment
Note that the blanking operation is first performed from the operation of applying the cleaning liquid to the
In this way, the
The contact of the
The blanking operation and the drum cleaning operation are performed continuously. The
The cleaning liquid is blanked a predetermined number of times, and after the blanking is completed, the drum is cleaned a predetermined number of times to complete the reset operation.
Thereafter, the cleaning liquid is discarded from the
Thus, the
It should be noted that the reset operation using the cleaning liquid is preferably performed at an arbitrary timing. That is, it is preferable that the operation can be performed according to an instruction from the operator (an instruction from the
Alternatively, it may be automatically performed when the
In the above example, the drum cleaning operation is performed almost simultaneously with the cleaning liquid emptying operation during the reset operation using the cleaning liquid. However, the drum cleaning operation may be performed in advance (see above). (Refer to the reset operation in the second embodiment). Alternatively, the cleaning liquid emptying operation may be performed a plurality of times in advance, and then the drum cleaning operation may be performed.
Moreover, although the washing | cleaning liquid to be used is not specifically limited, For example, a pure water can be used. Moreover, when improving a cleaning effect more, it is preferable to use the pure water which provided the surfactant.
