Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a gas assist injection mold and a gas assist injection molding method. In particular, the present invention relates to a technique for guaranteeing the stability of a counter pressure with high accuracy in gas-assisted injection molding, which is a resin injection molding method involving gas injection into a cavity of a mold.
In recent years, as the accuracy and functions required for resin injection-molded products have increased, a gas-assisted injection molding method in which a gas is injected into a mold and the resin is injection-molded has been performed as one of the techniques.
For example,
In this method, first, the cavity of the mold is filled with a specific gas body such as carbon dioxide at an appropriate gas pressure, and then the resin is filled.
As a result, the gas body is absorbed by the flow front of the fluid resin, or enters the interface between the mold and the resin and dissolves in the resin surface layer.
The gas dissolved in the resin acts as a plasticizer, lowering the melt viscosity of the resin, and in particular, selectively lowering the solidification temperature of the resin surface.
As a result, the solidification temperature is lowered only by the thin resin surface layer, and solidification during the resin filling process does not occur if the solidification temperature is lower than the mold surface temperature. By such a technique, the mold surface transferability of the molded product is improved.
In gas-assisted molding, the gas pressure in the cavity is one of important molding factors. Therefore, in order to manage this, a pressure gauge is inserted into the mold and the gas pressure in the cavity is measured.
For example, it is widely performed that a pressure gauge is arranged in a piping path from a gas supply device to a mold, the gas pressure in the cavity is measured at one place, and the relationship between the passage of time and the pressure value is acquired as waveform data. Yes.
According to
In the gas assist injection molding method described above, a dedicated mold structure is required to inject and hold a gas in the mold cavity.
At that time, in order to improve airtightness, a sealing material such as an O-ring is arranged around the parting line and the ejector pin, and a gas supply port is provided to connect to the gas supply device.
Further, the gas guide groove is processed so that the gas surely reaches the vicinity of the cavity, and the gas is injected into the cavity from a minute gap that does not allow the resin provided in the cavity wall to enter.
The gas exhaust is common to the supply path, or a discharge path is separately provided and discharged from the cavity through the guide groove. An on-off valve is installed in the supply / discharge path to control the series of supply / hold / discharge operations.
When continuous molding is performed with the above mold, resin residue accumulates in a part of the airtight target space of the mold due to shot integration in the continuous process, or volatile components of the resin adhere to the mold. Inside conduction points may cause clogging.
Alternatively, due to the deterioration of the sealing material, the airtightness in the mold space at the time of gas supply may be lowered.
The airtight space in the gas-assist molding die is electrically connected to the cavity mainly from the gas supply port by gas grooves and gas vents. Fills around the member.
For this reason, even if the gas is supplied at a high pressure exceeding 10 MPa, it takes several seconds from the start of supply of the airtight target space until the cavity is increased to a predetermined pressure to reach a steady state.
For this reason, in the method in which a pressure gauge is arranged in the piping path from the gas supply device to the mold, which has been widely used in the past, and the gas pressure in the cavity is measured at one place, the accuracy is increased at the time of gas pressure increase during molding. It is difficult to detect the airtight state of the mold well.
Such a measuring method has a problem that when a change occurs in the airtight state in the mold, this cannot be sufficiently detected.
Further, in the method of estimating the mold state by measuring and observing the molded product one by one, molding management and mold maintenance are inefficient.
In addition, the airtight state in the mold in this specification means both the sealing property of the sealing material closing the airtight target space and the gas continuity between the mold components in the space. Yes.
In view of the above problems, the present invention can detect an airtight state in a mold with high accuracy, guarantees the quality of a molded product in a continuous molding process, and can improve the mass production moldability. An object is to provide a gas assist injection mold and a gas assist injection molding method.

Next, the configuration of the gas assist injection mold in the embodiment of the present invention will be described.
First, before describing the present embodiment, the configuration of a gas assist injection mold in the conventional example will be described with reference to FIG.
As shown in FIG. 4, the conventional mold includes a

Next, an airtight target space in the mold in the conventional mold will be described with reference to FIG.
As shown in FIG. 5, gas flows preferentially from the gas groove and gas vent and fills the cavity including the sprue.
Further, the
Since there are gaps of at least several tens of μm in the
Since the gap fills with gas within a few seconds behind the cavity, if it is considered that the airtight target space in the mold is composed of the cavity including the sprue and the gap, the counter pressure of the airtight target space in the mold It takes several seconds to reach a steady state.
Here, consider a case where the U packing 22 deteriorates and the seal becomes incomplete.
FIG. 6 shows the flow of gas in the mold during non-molding using arrows. A cross indicates that the U-packing 22 has lost its airtightness. The size of the arrow indicates the ease of gas flow, and the thicker the arrow, the greater the gas flow.
Since continuity from the
On the other hand, FIG. 7 shows the gas flow in the mold during molding, as in FIG.
After the injection is completed during molding, the cavity and sprue are filled with the
If gas is leaking from the back side of the ejector pin, it will take several seconds until pressure loss is transmitted to the pressure gauge through the mating surface of the movable die set and movable holding piece. The delay increases.
This means that the accuracy of pressure detection in the airtight target space in the mold is low.
As described above, the conventional example cannot accurately detect when the airtightness of the mold is changed.
In mass production molding of optical parts, it is necessary to guarantee the stability of the counter pressure with high accuracy, so the conventional configuration lacks accuracy.
Therefore, in the present embodiment, it is configured so that not only the fixed mold side of the mold but also the hermeticity change on the movable mold side can be sensitively detected, and the mold hermetic state is increased. It is formed so that it can be measured accurately.
Specifically, it is configured as shown in FIG. In FIG. 1, the same components as those shown in FIG. 4 described above are denoted by the same reference numerals, and the description of the common parts is omitted.
In FIG. 1, 29 is a pipe connection port, 31 is a pressure gauge (first pressure gauge), 33 is a pressure gauge (second pressure gauge), 34 is a supply valve, 35 is piping, and 36 is a path.
In the gas assist injection mold according to the present embodiment, the

With such a configuration, by comparing the pressure values of both during injection molding, it becomes possible to sensitively detect changes in airtightness not only on the fixed side but also on the movable side, and the accuracy of pressure detection in the airtight target space Can be improved.
Moreover, since this structure can be easily constructed without inserting a pressure sensor into the mold, there is also a cost merit.
In addition, it is possible to accurately detect changes in the hermetic state of the mold before and after continuous mold shot maintenance and mold maintenance, guaranteeing the quality of molded products that require high stability of the counter pressure, and mass production. It becomes possible to improve moldability.

Next, a process for measuring gas pressure during gas assist molding will be described.
First, gas assist molding starts at the same time that the mold is closed and the mold is clamped.

After the gas is discharged, the mold is opened through a cooling process, and a molded product is ejected at the mold opening limit, and one cycle of gas assist molding is completed.
In this embodiment, by logging the
Since the surface shape of the optical molded product is mainly formed from the start of the pressure-holding process to the gate seal, the counter pressure in this time zone is one of the important molding factors that influence the shape accuracy.
In this example, since the injection time was 4.5 seconds and the gate seal time was 5 seconds after entering the pressure holding process, the time period from 4.5 seconds to 9.5 seconds counted from the start of injection Although it is the timing of pressure measurement, the gas pressure after 8 seconds from the start of injection was measured here.
The gas pressure supplied to the cavity was 7.4 MPa, and the non-defective condition range was ± 0.1 MPa in consideration of the measurement error of the gas pressure gauge.
