Abstract
Description
Embodiments described herein relate generally to an information processing apparatus such as a personal computer.
In recent years, various types of personal computers such as notebook type and desktop type are widely used. Generally, this type of personal computer has a built-in clock module such as an RTC (Real-time clock) and has a schedule function for automatically executing a predetermined process at a predetermined time.
Among notebook-type personal computers, a high-function personal computer called an all-in-one type can watch moving image data with high image quality or view music data with high sound quality. In addition, high-performance displays and speakers are increasingly installed. And in this kind of personal computer, in order to reduce cost and space, a dedicated speaker (beep dedicated speaker) for outputting a warning sound called a beep sound is not mounted, but for sound output. An increasing number of cases also use a speaker as a beep sound output.
The audio output speaker is connected to an amplifier for amplifying the audio signal, and outputs the audio signal amplified by the amplifier under the control of the amplifier. Therefore, in a personal computer not equipped with a beep speaker, a beep sound is output from the sound output speaker by supplying a beep sound signal to the amplifier.
By the way, in a notebook-type personal computer that can be driven by a battery, in order to save power, the power supply to the amplifier is normally cut off during power-off such as a standby or sleep state, a hibernation state, and a shutdown state. Therefore, a personal computer not equipped with a dedicated beep speaker cannot output any sound including the beep during power-off when the power supply to the amplifier is cut off, and outputs a beep sound when the specified time arrives. The alarm function, such as, could not be realized.
The information processing apparatus according to the embodiment includes a speaker, an amplifier for amplifying an audio signal output from the speaker, an input terminal for inputting the audio signal, and a predetermined time during power-off. When power supply to the amplifier is started and an external device is connected to the input terminal, an audio signal input from the input terminal is output from the speaker via the amplifier, and the external device is connected to the input terminal If not, alarm means for generating a predetermined audio signal, supplying the predetermined audio signal to the amplifier, and outputting the predetermined audio signal from the speaker is provided.
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is an external view of an information processing apparatus according to an embodiment. Here, the information processing apparatus is realized as a notebook type personal computer 1.

As shown in FIG. 3, the computer 1 is in a so-called standby / sleep state (also called a suspend state) in which the power is turned off while the
In the present computer 1 that outputs sound from the

The computer 1 can output a beep sound or the like from the
On the alarm function setting screen shown in FIG. 4, the user can arbitrarily set, for example, a time at which a beep sound is to be output from the
Further, on the sleep utility setting screen shown in FIG. 5, the user can set whether to enable the sleep and music function (field a1). When the sleep and music function is set to be effective, for example, as shown in FIG. 1, the music data in the portable music player 2 is desired to be viewed using the
The
Further, on the sleep utility setting screen shown in FIG. 5, whether or not the sleep and music function is activated even when the battery is not connected to the AC adapter and how much remaining battery power is present. Then, it can be set together whether to operate the sleep and music function (field a2). Here, even when the battery is driven, if the remaining capacity exceeds 2%, a setting is made to activate the sleep and music function.
When one of the alarm function and the sleep and music function is set to be valid, the EC /
FIG. 6 is a diagram showing functional blocks related to the alarm function of the computer 1. In FIG. 6, the same reference numerals are assigned to the modules and the signal lines between the modules corresponding to the modules and the signal lines between the modules in the system configuration illustrated in FIG. 1.
Now, it is assumed that the EC /
At this time, if the computer 1 is in the power-on state (status S 0 ), the power is supplied to the
On the other hand, when the computer 1 is in a power-off state (status S x ), whether or not power is supplied to the
That is, when the time to activate the alarm function arrives, even if the computer 1 is in the power-off state (status S x ), if the sleep and music function is set to be effective, the power supply to the
When the computer 1 is in the power-off state (status S x ) and the sleep and music function is disabled, the power supply to the
In this way, the computer 1 realizes an alarm function that outputs a beep sound when a predetermined time arrives without a beep-only speaker.
As described above, the EC /
The mechanism for detecting whether or not an external device is connected to the
When the time to activate the alarm function has arrived, if the sleep and music function is enabled and an external device is connected to the
As described above, the computer 1 realizes an alarm function of outputting a beep sound or the like when a predesignated time arrives (even when the power is off) in a system configuration in which a beep dedicated speaker is not installed.
FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing an operation procedure related to the alarm function when the computer 1 is powered off.
If the alarm function is set to be valid, the EC /
Subsequently, the EC /
By the way, in the above description, an example in which the EC /
In this case, the
As a method of turning on the EC /
