Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a lighting device and a projector.
。 2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, an illumination device including a solid light source device having a solid light source that emits excitation light and a fluorescent layer that converts the excitation light into fluorescence and emits the light is known. Moreover, a projector provided with such an illumination device is known (for example, refer to Patent Document 1).
According to the conventional illumination device, even when a solid light source capable of obtaining only specific color light is used, various color lights can be obtained by converting the light emitted from the solid light source with the fluorescent layer.
By the way, in recent years, the brightness of projectors has been increased, and along with this, the need for increasing the brightness of lighting devices has increased. In order to increase the brightness of the conventional lighting device, a method of applying a higher voltage to the solid state light source can be considered. However, when the luminance of the lighting device is increased using this method, the thermal load is concentrated on one solid-state light source, and the lifetime of the solid-state light source is shortened due to this. For this reason, in the conventional illuminating device, there exists a problem that it is difficult to make an illuminating device high-intensity, without shortening the lifetime of a solid light source.
Therefore, the present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide an illuminating device that can increase the brightness without shortening the lifetime of the solid-state light source. Another object of the present invention is to provide a projector having a high brightness with a low replacement frequency of the lighting device because the lighting device is provided.
[1] An illumination device of the present invention includes a first solid-state light source device that includes a first solid-state light source that emits main excitation light, and a fluorescent layer that converts at least a part of the main-excitation light into fluorescence and emits the fluorescence. A first lens that suppresses the spread of light from the first solid-state light source device; and a second lens that substantially collimates the light from the first lens, and is emitted from the first solid-state light source device as a whole. An illumination device including a collimating optical system that collimates light substantially, the second solid light source device having a second solid light source that emits sub excitation light, and the secondary excitation light from the second solid light source device. A condensing optical system that illuminates, and is disposed between the first lens and the second lens, reflects the secondary excitation light emitted from the condensing optical system toward the fluorescent layer, and reflects the fluorescence. Dichroic light having a dichroic surface to pass through And the fluorescent layer is configured to convert the sub-excitation light into the fluorescence and emit the fluorescent light, and the optical axis of the first solid-state light source device and the optical axis of the second solid-state light source device In an included plane, an angle α formed by the dichroic surface and the optical axis of the first solid state light source device satisfies a relationship of “45 ° <α <60 °”.
For this reason, according to the illuminating device of the present invention, as the light source for exciting the fluorescent layer, two light sources, the first solid light source that emits main excitation light and the second solid light source that emits sub excitation light, are used. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the thermal load applied to the light source as compared with the case of an illumination device that uses one light source as a light source for exciting the fluorescent layer, and as a result, illumination without shortening the life of the light source. It becomes possible to increase the brightness of the apparatus.
Further, according to the illumination device of the present invention, since the two excitation lights of the main excitation light and the secondary excitation light are converted into fluorescence using a single fluorescent layer, one excitation light is converted to 1 Compared to a lighting device configured to convert to fluorescence using two fluorescent layers, the light emitting area is not particularly large, and therefore the quality of the illumination light beam is reduced due to the large light emitting area. I don't have to.
Also, according to the illumination device of the present invention, the angle α formed by the dichroic surface and the optical axis of the first solid-state light source device satisfies the relationship “45 ° <α <60 °”. The lighting device can be reduced in size without interfering with the two solid-state light source devices.
Here, the reason why the angle α formed by the dichroic surface and the optical axis of the first solid-state light source device is “satisfying the relationship of 45 ° <α <60 °” is as follows. When the angle α is 45 ° or less, the “length in the direction along the optical axis of the first solid-state light source device” in the dichroic optical element becomes too long, making it difficult to reduce the size of the illumination device. This is because when the angle α is 60 ° or more, the first solid-state light source device and the second solid-state light source device may interfere with each other.
From the above viewpoint, it is more preferable that the angle α formed between the dichroic surface and the optical axis of the first solid-state light source device satisfies the relationship “50 ° ≦ α ≦ 55 °”.
[2] In the illumination device of the present invention, the first solid-state light source device emits white light including red light, green light, and blue light, and is a Lambert light emission type white solid-state light source. The main excitation light is , Ultraviolet light, violet light, or blue light, the secondary excitation light is ultraviolet light or violet light, and the dichroic surface reflects light having a wavelength of 440 nm or less and allows light having a wavelength to exceed 440 nm to pass through. It is preferable.
With such a configuration, it is possible to emit white light from the lighting device with a relatively simple configuration.
[3] The illumination device of the present invention further includes a third solid light source device having a third solid light source disposed so as to face the second solid light source device across the dichroic optical element and emitting blue light. The main excitation light is ultraviolet light, violet light or blue light, the secondary excitation light is ultraviolet light, violet light or blue light, and the fluorescent layer contains red light and green light as fluorescence. It is configured to emit fluorescence, and the dichroic surface preferably reflects light having a wavelength of 500 nm or less and allows light having a wavelength to exceed 500 nm to pass through.
With such a configuration, it is possible to emit white light with higher luminance using three solid light sources.
[4] In the illumination device of the present invention, it is preferable that the dichroic optical element is composed of a dichroic prism.
With such a configuration, it is possible to reduce the reflection loss in the dichroic optical element.
[5] In the illumination device of the present invention, an auxiliary prism having an incident surface perpendicular to the optical axis of the second solid light source device is disposed on the second solid light source device side of the dichroic prism. It is preferable.
By adopting such a configuration, it becomes possible to correctly make the secondary excitation light incident on the dichroic prism.
[6] In the illumination device of the present invention, it is preferable that the auxiliary prism is bonded to the second solid-state light source device side of the dichroic prism.
With this configuration, it is possible to reduce reflection loss that may occur between the dichroic prism and the auxiliary prism.
[7] In the illumination device of the present invention, it is preferable that the dichroic prism has a shape in which a portion on the second solid light source device side is a surface perpendicular to the optical axis of the second solid light source device.
Even with such a configuration, it is possible to correctly make the secondary excitation light incident on the dichroic prism.
[8] In the illumination device of the present invention, the dichroic surface is formed of a dielectric multilayer film, and the dielectric multilayer film is a film configuration that gradually changes according to the incident angle of the sub-excitation light incident on the dichroic surface. It is preferable that the secondary excitation light incident on any region of the dichroic surface has substantially the same wavelength and transmittance characteristics.
By adopting such a configuration, it becomes possible to reflect the sub-excitation light with high reflectance in any region of the dichroic surface.
In the illumination device of the present invention, the secondary excitation light from the second solid-state light source device is incident on the dichroic surface while being focused by the condensing optical system, as shown in FIG. Reflected towards the layer. For this reason, the magnitude relationship of the incident angle of the secondary excitation light with respect to the dichroic surface shows the same tendency as the magnitude relationship of the incident angle of the main excitation light and the fluorescence with respect to the dichroic surface, and the dielectric multilayer film is in any region of the dichroic surface. The main excitation light or fluorescence incident on the light has substantially the same wavelength / transmittance characteristics. As a result, according to the illumination device of the present invention, it is possible to reflect the main excitation light with a high reflectance and transmit the fluorescence with a high transmittance in any region of the dichroic surface.
[9] In the illumination device of the present invention, a front aspheric surface is formed on the exit surface of the first lens or the entrance surface of the second lens, and a rear aspheric surface is formed on the exit surface of the second lens. The front aspherical surface is formed so that the light flux density distribution of the light emitted from the first solid state light source device is a peripheral portion where the light flux density in the vicinity of the optical axis of the collimating optical system is separated from the optical axis of the collimating optical system. The latter aspherical surface has a function to substantially parallelize the light formed in the predetermined light flux density distribution, In the light emitted from the collimating optical system, the light flux density in the vicinity of the optical axis of the collimating optical system is preferably higher than the light flux density in the peripheral portion away from the optical axis of the collimating optical system.
By the way, when trying to apply the conventional collimating optical system widely used in the illumination device, the light flux density in the vicinity of the optical axis of the collimating optical system in the light emitted from the collimating optical system is different from the optical axis of the collimating optical system. It becomes relatively lower than the light flux density in the distant peripheral part. In such a case, even if an integrator optical system for making the in-plane light intensity distribution of the light emitted from the collimating optical system uniform is arranged in the subsequent stage, it is irradiated with a large angle of the light irradiated to the illuminated area. The proportion of light that is emitted will increase. When such an illuminating device is applied to a projector using a liquid crystal light modulating device with a built-in microlens as a light modulating device, the light irradiated at a large angle among the light irradiated to the illuminated region. There is a problem in that the light utilization efficiency decreases due to the increase in the ratio.
On the other hand, according to the illumination device of the present invention, the light flux density in the vicinity of the optical axis of the collimating optical system in the light emitted from the collimating optical system is the light flux density in the peripheral portion away from the optical axis of the collimating optical system. Therefore, it is possible to increase the proportion of the light irradiated to the illuminated area with a small angle, so that the illuminated area is irradiated with a large angle. The light utilization efficiency does not decrease due to the increase in the ratio of light to be emitted.
In addition, since the front aspheric surface is formed on the exit surface of the first lens or the entrance surface of the second lens, and the rear aspheric surface is formed on the exit surface of the second lens, two lenses are used as described above. A collimating optical system having various effects can be configured.
In addition, the incident surfaces in the first lens and the second lens refer to surfaces on which light is incident (surfaces on the side close to the first solid-state light source device). In addition, the emission surfaces of the first lens and the second lens refer to surfaces on the light emission side (surfaces far from the first solid state light source device).
[10] A projector according to the present invention projects the illumination device according to the present invention, a light modulation device that modulates light from the illumination device in accordance with image information, and a modulated light from the light modulation device as a projection image. And an optical system.
For this reason, according to the projector of the present invention, since the illumination device of the present invention capable of increasing the brightness without shortening the lifetime of the solid-state light source is provided, Become.
In addition, according to the projector of the present invention, the projector can be downsized without difficulty because the illumination device that can be downsized without causing the first solid state light source device and the second solid state light source device to interfere with each other is provided. It becomes.
