Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus including an image reading unit that reads a document such as a scanner and a display unit that displays a preview image.
A copier, a multifunction peripheral, a fax machine, and the like may have an image reading unit for reading a document and obtaining image data of the document. For example, the image reading unit includes a lamp that irradiates light to the original, and guides reflected light of the original to an image sensor to obtain image data. Here, there is a case where a function for displaying a preview image on a liquid crystal display unit such as an operation panel is installed in the image forming apparatus so that the user can confirm the output result (printed matter) output to the paper before printing. is there. Thereby, for example, the user can confirm the finish before printing such as confirmation before printing of the setting results of various functions in copying such as density change. If you don't like the finish, you can take measures such as resetting the settings for reading and printing, and eliminate unnecessary printing.
An image forming apparatus having such a function of displaying a preview image is described in
First, an image forming apparatus is provided with a document conveying device that automatically and continuously conveys a plurality of documents one by one to the reading position of the image reading unit so that the documents can be read at high speed. There is. This document conveying device can quickly read and print a document of a plurality of pages (copying).
In the conventional image forming apparatus, when copying is performed after displaying a preview image, first, all originals are continuously read. After all the originals have been read, a preview image is displayed. Further, after the preview image is displayed, the user performs various settings relating to copying. After various settings, printing is started by pressing a start key or the like. Thus, conventionally, document reading, preview image display (including setting work), and printing are performed in series. Therefore, there is a problem that the time required from the start of reading a document to the completion of printing becomes long.
Here, the invention described in
In view of the above-described problems of the prior art, the present invention shortens the time required from the start of reading a document to the completion of printing when a plurality of documents are copied by performing document reading, preview image display, and printing in parallel. This is the issue.
In order to achieve the above object, an image forming apparatus according to
According to this configuration, the preview images are displayed in the order of the read pages before the reading of all the originals is completed, and the image forming unit displays the preview images for all the pages before the reading of all the originals is completed. Since image formation (printing) is performed before display, document reading, preview image display, and printing are performed in parallel. Thereby, the time required from the start of document reading to the completion of printing can be shortened. However, each element such as configuration and arrangement described in this embodiment does not limit the scope of the invention and is merely an illustrative example.
(Outline of image forming apparatus)
First, an outline of an electrophotographic copying machine 100 (corresponding to an image forming apparatus) according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 1 is a front sectional view schematically showing a configuration of a copying
As shown in FIG. 1, the copying
Next, the internal configuration and operation of the copying
First, the
In this embodiment, the
In FIG. 1, the
The
In FIG. 1, the

Next, the
The
The
Next, the
Further, as shown in FIG. 2, the document is irradiated from the first moving

Here, an example of a specific document reading operation will be described. First, when a document transported by the

Next, based on FIG.1 and FIG.3, the

(Hardware configuration of copying machine 100)
Next, an example of the hardware configuration of the copying
中央演算処理装置として、CPU71が設けられ、RAM(Random Access Memory)やROM(Read Only Memory)やHDD(Hard disk drive)やフラッシュROM等の不揮発性と揮発性のメモリ35からなる記憶部72を有する。
First, the copying
The main
Next, the configuration of the
The
Further, the
The main
Further, the

Next, an example of the hardware configuration of the
As described above, the
The document
Next, as shown in FIG. 5, the
The
Next, an example of the flow of image data obtained by the
Variations in light receiving elements corresponding to pixels arranged in a line on the image sensor 27 (individual characteristic differences), differences in the degree of condensing between the central portion and the peripheral portion of the
For example, the corrected image data is input to the main
The
Therefore, the
(Preview image display)
Next, an example of a preview image display on the copying
First, in the copying
As shown in FIG. 6, in the copying
Then, as shown in the upper part of FIG. 6, when the setting relating to copying such as density setting is completed and the
When a plurality of originals are placed on the original conveyance unit, the originals are continuously read one by one, and image data is continuously generated. The preview image is updated every time image data of a preview image for one page is generated based on continuously generated image data. Therefore, as shown in the lower part of FIG. 6, the preview image display area F1 is provided with a page display field C1 indicating the currently displayed page. As described above, in the copying
On the right side of the preview image, a document reading status display area F2 for displaying the reading status of the document and a printing progress status display area F3 for displaying the progress status of printing are provided. The document reading status display area F2 and the printing progress status display area F3 are displayed when the
In the document reading status display area F2, the first image D indicating the read document or the page of the document being read is displayed in parallel in the horizontal direction. For example, the first image D is displayed so that the page located on the front side (first side) is on the left side. The number in each first image D indicates the page number in the document. Further, in FIG. 6B, the page that has been read out of the first image D, such as the difference between the first image D positioned at the right end and the first image D other than the right end, For example, a page that is displayed as a square figure (rectangle) and is being read is displayed as a figure in which the upper part of the square is cut out with a wavy line, and a downward arrow and a character being read are attached.
That is, the display input unit (operation panel 3) makes the first image D indicating the original read by the
Further, each first image D can be an image obtained by further reducing the preview image displayed in the preview image display area F1. In other words, each first image D is also a kind of preview image. Note that the image data of each first image D is generated by the
In addition, since the first image D that can be displayed in parallel in the document reading status display area F2 is not infinite, when a certain number of pages (for example, 4 to 6 pages) are displayed, for example, document reading is performed. Each time it is performed, the display of the first image D of the first page (the first page) in the first image D is erased (for example, arranged on the leftmost side). Then, the first image D that has not been erased is shifted to the left. For example, the first image D of the page from which the document has been read most recently is displayed on the rightmost side of the parallel first images D.
On the other hand, in the printing progress display area F3, the second image P indicating the page being printed or scheduled to be printed is displayed side by side in the horizontal direction. For example, the second image P is displayed so that the page located on the front side (the most leading page) is on the left side. The numbers in each second image P indicate page numbers. Further, in FIG. 6C, the page being printed out of the second image P is, for example, the difference between the second image P located at the left end and the second image P other than the left end. The upper part of the rectangle is displayed as a figure cut out by a wavy line, a downward arrow and a character being printed are attached, and a page to be printed from now on is displayed as a square figure.
That is, the display input unit (operation panel 3) changes the shape of the second image indicating the page to be printed and the second image P indicating the page to be printed from now on. As shown in FIG. 6C, the second image P becomes smaller as reading progresses. That is, the display input unit (operation panel 3) displays a second image P indicating a page to be printed in a rectangular shape, and displays a second image indicating a page to be printed each time printing is performed. The shape is changed so that the shape becomes smaller.
Furthermore, each of the second images P can also be an image obtained by further reducing the preview image displayed in the preview image display area F1 as with the first image D. In other words, each second image P is also a kind of preview image. The image data of each second image P may be the same image data as the first image D. As described above, the display input unit (operation panel 3) displays the preview image as the first image D and / or the second image P (the first image D and / or the second image P is a preview). Image).
Further, since the second image P that can be displayed in parallel in the print progress status display area F3 is not infinite, for example, the display of the second image P that has been printed is deleted. Then, the second image P that has not been erased is shifted to the left. For example, the second image P of the page located at the rearmost side among the pages not displayed so far is newly displayed on the rightmost side of the second images P arranged in parallel.
In this way, the display input unit (operation panel 3) simultaneously displays the parallel display of the first image D for a plurality of pages and the parallel display of the second image P for a plurality of pages. Therefore, the user can easily grasp the progress of reading and printing.
(Reduction of copying time)
Next, shortening of the time required for copying in the copying
The copying
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 7, conventionally, in order to prevent wasteful printing and re-reading of a document, a preview image can be confirmed after all document reading is completed. Then, after confirming the preview image, the user is satisfied with the finish, and after the user inputs an instruction to start printing, printing is started. However, this requires time from the start of reading a plurality of documents to the completion of printing.
Therefore, the copying
In order to shorten the time required for reading a document per sheet or the printing time per sheet and shorten the time from the start of document scanning to the completion of printing, the document transport speed, image processing speed, image forming speed, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the overall capability of the image forming apparatus. For this reason, there are many points to be solved such as power consumption, noise, image quality, and cost, and there are some difficulties. However, in the copying
(Cancel manuscript reading and printing)
Next, with reference to FIG. 8, an example of the stop of document reading and the stop of printing in the copying
First, with reference to FIG. 8A, cancellation of document reading will be described. In FIG. 8A, the progress of reading the original is displayed in the original reading status display area F2 when copying is started. Here, the user can confirm reading of the document while viewing the preview image.
And when scanning multiple originals, the originals that are different from the originals to be copied are mixed in, the pages are not arranged in order, or the user is dissatisfied with the finish. There is a case where it is desired to cancel the document reading. In other words, there are cases where it is desired to stop reading the original and reset the original or copy. For example, in FIG. 8A, the third and fourth pages are shown as other originals mixed in the original.
When it is desired to cancel the document reading, the document reading can be stopped by pressing the first image D that is not intended to be copied. For example, in the example of FIG. 8A, the first image D on the third page is pressed. If the first image D is pressed, the
Note that whether or not to print a page before the page for which the document reading stop is specified can be arbitrarily determined. For example, if the first image D is pressed and the input of the document reading stop is input to the
Next, the print cancellation will be described with reference to FIG. In FIG. 8B, the print status is displayed in the print progress status display area F3 when copying is started. Here, the user can check the progress of printing while viewing the preview image.
When copying multiple originals, when the original is different from the original to be copied, or when the user is dissatisfied with the finished product, the user must select only a part of the scanned original. You may not want to print. In other words, the read document may include pages that you do not want to print. For example, in FIG. 8B, the fourth and fifth pages are shown as pages that the user does not want to print.
When it is desired to cancel the printing of a part of such pages, the printing of the page can be skipped by pressing the second image P that is not intended for printing. For example, in the example of FIG. 8B, when the second image P of the fourth and fifth pages is pressed, the
That is, the display input unit (operation panel 3) displays at least a second page P indicating a page to be printed and a page to be printed in parallel for a plurality of pages in the order of printing, An input for designating the second image P is accepted as an instruction to cancel printing, and the
In the copying
Further, by pressing the second image P one by one, an instruction to stop printing one page at a time may be input, but the second image P for a plurality of pages is traced with a finger (while the button is pressed) The plurality of second images P may be designated by a single pressing operation, such as by moving a finger in the left-right direction of the liquid crystal display unit 31). That is, the display input unit (operation panel 3) receives an input for designating a plurality of second images P.
(Document reading and printing flow)
Next, an example of a control flow in copying in the copying
First, the flow of document reading control will be described with reference to FIG. The start in FIG. 9 is the time when the
When the
Based on the image data output from the
Since a new page of the document has been read, the
Next, the document
On the other hand, if there is a document to be read, the
Next, the flow of print control will be described with reference to FIG. The start in FIG. 10 is a point in time when copying is started by pressing the start key 34 after various settings such as density and paper are made by pressing the liquid
When the
Thereafter, the main
Then, the main
If the next page to be printed is a page instructed to cancel printing (Yes in step # 27), the main
As described above, according to the configuration of the present embodiment, the preview image is displayed before the reading of all the originals is completed, and the
Further, when document reading, preview image display, and printing are performed in parallel, printing can be performed while viewing the preview image, and when an instruction to stop reading is given, the
In addition, the display area on the display input unit (operation panel 3) is limited, and when the number of documents is large (for example, more than ten), the first image D may not be displayed. . Alternatively, even if it can be displayed, one first image D may be very small and difficult to view. However, since the first image D is erased from the previously read first image D, the first image D can be secured to a certain size, and input for designating the first image D can be reliably performed. Therefore, the operability for the user is improved. Further, the shape of the first image D differs between the read original and the original being read. Thus, the user can easily grasp the progress of reading the document. Further, since the first image D showing the document being read changes in shape so as to approach a rectangle each time reading progresses, the user can easily grasp the progress of reading the document easily and in detail.
In addition, when the document reading, the preview image display, and the printing are performed in parallel, the
Further, the display area on the display input unit (operation panel 3) has a limit, and when the number of documents is large (for example, more than ten), the second image P may not be displayed. . Alternatively, even if it can be displayed, one second image P may be very small and difficult to view. However, since the second image P of the page on which printing has been completed is erased, the second image P can be secured to some extent, and input for designating the second image P can be performed reliably. Therefore, the operability for the user is improved. Further, the shape of the second image P differs between the page being printed and the page waiting to be printed. Thereby, the user can easily grasp the progress of printing. In addition, since the shape of the second image P showing the page being printed changes so that the shape becomes smaller as printing progresses, the user can easily grasp the progress of printing in detail. . Further, the parallel display of the first image D and the parallel display of the second image P are displayed simultaneously. As a result, the user can simultaneously grasp the progress of reading the original and the progress of printing.
Further, since the display input unit (for example, the operation panel 3) receives an input for specifying a plurality of second images P, a plurality of pages can be specified at the same time. As a result, the user can efficiently designate an unnecessary page, and the operability can be improved. Further, since the display input unit displays the preview image as the first image D and the second image P, it is possible to visually recognize whether the document reading should be stopped and the page where printing should be stopped. As a result, the user can easily determine whether or not to read the original or stop printing.
The embodiment of the present invention has been described above, but the scope of the present invention is not limited to this, and various modifications can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
