Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a connector for connecting a thin plate-like connection object such as an FPC or FFC.
FIG. 14 shows a conventional connector of a type in which a thin plate-like connection object (FPC, FFC, etc.) can be connected, and the contact comes into contact with the connection object when the actuator is tilted to the opposite side of the connection object escape direction. It is an example.
This connector includes an insulator in which a connection object can be inserted and removed, a plurality of metal contacts arranged and fixed on the insulator, and an actuator that is a plate-like resin member rotatably supported by the insulator. Yes. The contact includes a fixed piece that is substantially parallel to the insertion direction of the connection object, and a movable piece that can swing with respect to the fixed piece about the intermediate portion, and one end of the fixed piece and the movable piece. It is possible to insert / remove the connection object between the sections (the left end in FIG. 14). An engaging protrusion and a retaining protrusion protrude from the other end (the right end in FIG. 14) side of the movable piece and the fixed piece. Also, a cam portion located between the other end of the fixed piece and the movable piece is formed at the end of the actuator, and a plurality of through holes are formed in the same direction as the contacts in the vicinity of the cam portion of the actuator. It is.
As shown in FIG. 14 (a), when the actuator is located at the unlocked position substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the insulator, the other end of the movable piece of each contact passes through the corresponding through-hole of the actuator. And the cam part is spaced apart from the movable piece.
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 14 (b), the actuator is rotated to the locked position where the actuator is tilted in the direction opposite to the escape direction of the connection object with the connection object inserted between one end of the fixed piece and the movable piece. Then, the cam portion presses the other end of the movable piece in a direction away from the fixed piece, so that one end of the movable piece approaches the fixed piece side and comes into contact with the connection object. Further, since the engaging protrusions of the movable piece and the retaining protrusions of the fixed piece are fitted into the through holes and respectively engaged with the cam portion, the cam portion is pulled out between the fixed piece and the movable piece in the right direction in FIG. Is prevented.
In recent years, a low profile (1 mm or less) and a high density have been strongly demanded for this type of connector. Therefore, an actuator used as a component must be thinned. Further, the engaging projection for rotating the cam portion between the fixed piece and the movable piece substantially between the unlocked position and the locked position and preventing the cam portion from dropping in the inserting direction of the contact object. In order to form a contact on the actuator, a through hole is formed in the actuator to allow the movable piece to pass through.
Therefore, if the pitch of each contact (interval between adjacent contacts) is narrowed and a through hole is formed in the actuator with a narrow pitch, the mechanical strength at the end of the actuator on the through hole side becomes extremely weak. When the actuator is rotated to the lock position, the cam portion may not be able to reliably press the end portion of the movable piece.
In addition, when the actuator is molded using a metal mold, the resin material as a raw material wraps around the part corresponding to the through hole of the mold and enters the adjacent partition wall (between adjacent through holes). Wall). However, since the through-holes increase the resin flow for the molding of actuators that are thin and have a narrow pitch, if the flow resistance increases due to the narrow pitch, molding defects such as short shots may occur. .
In addition, the cam portion that is made of resin due to the low profile of the connector and transmits the operating force to the movable piece tends to be thinner (FIG. 14 (a) vertical direction) and lower (FIG. 14 (b) vertical direction) In addition, since the actuator has a through hole, the cam portion is extremely small, weak in strength, and poor in moldability.
Further, in order to prevent the cam portion at the lock position, the unlock position, and the rotation operation position from falling off, the engaging protrusion and the retaining protrusion are formed at substantially the same position with respect to the insertion direction of the contact object. ing. On the other hand, the actuator is attached to the contact by inserting the cam part between the retaining protrusion and the engaging protrusion and setting the cam part over the engaging protrusion after the angle is set to the unlocked position. The protrusion has a narrow shape with a taper (small dimension in the left-right direction in FIG. 14). Therefore, if the rigidity of the actuator is reduced and the cam part is reduced in size as the height is lowered, the actuator will be pulled out when the actuator is rotating from the unlocked position to the locked position or when it is positioned at the locked position. There is a possibility that the cam portion may get over the retaining protrusion and fall off due to the force in the direction. In particular, when the connector is multi-pole, the actuator is long and the center portion is operated during operation, so that the actuator is likely to bend and drop off.
Also, on the surface of the cam portion (the lower surface in FIG. 14B) is a lock holding that makes it easier to hold the actuator in the locked position by contacting the upper surface (flat surface) of the fixed piece when the actuator moves to the locked position. A surface is formed. However, since the through hole reaches the surface, the area of the lock holding surface (the horizontal dimension in FIG. 14B) is small, and it is therefore difficult to increase the holding force by the lock holding surface. For this reason, when an external force or impact is applied to the actuator, the contact pressure between the one end of the movable piece and the connection object may change.
Furthermore, if a large force is applied to the actuator in the pulling direction (especially a momentary force during a drop impact or excessive locking operation), the small cam part may be scraped by the retaining protrusion, or in the worst case, it may be damaged. As a result, the cam portion may come out behind the retaining protrusion. In addition, if the cam portion is scraped, a malfunction occurs in the subsequent operation of the actuator.
The object of the present invention is to reduce the strength of the actuator even when the actuator is thin and the contacts are narrow pitch, even though the actuator is small and locks when the actuator is tilted in the direction opposite to the escape direction of the connection object. An object of the present invention is to provide a connector that is strong and can be molded accurately from resin.
The connector of the present invention includes an insulator in which a thin plate-like connection object can be inserted and withdrawn, a fixed piece that is substantially parallel to the insertion direction of the connection object fixed to the insulator, and a fixed piece with an intermediate portion as a center. A movable piece that can be swung, and a contact into which the connection object is inserted between one end of the fixed piece and the movable piece, a lock position that falls in the direction opposite to the escape direction, and the lock position Between the unlocked position rotated with respect to the insulator and is rotatable between the movable piece and the other end of the fixed piece. An actuator having a cam portion that presses the end portion of the movable piece in a direction away from the fixed piece to bring the one end portion of the movable piece into contact with the connection object. End side A locking protrusion that engages with the actuator positioned at the unlocked position from the opposite side to the one end, and the one end from the locking protrusion on the other end of the movable piece. An engaging projection that is engaged with the cam portion of the actuator located at the lock position from the retaining projection side, and the actuator formed on the actuator is located at the unlock position. A relief recess into which the other end of the movable piece fits when positioned, and a surface of the actuator opposite to the relief recess, and the fixed piece or And a flat lock holding surface in surface contact with a flat surface formed at a portion located at the one end from the retaining protrusion of the insulator.
A retaining recess independent of the relief recess and the cam portion, into which the retaining projection fits when positioned at the lock position, may be formed on a surface of the actuator opposite to the relief recess. .
The surface on the one end side of the retaining protrusion may be substantially orthogonal to the insertion direction of the connection object.
When the actuator is located at the unlock position, the actuator includes a flat unlock holding surface that comes into surface contact with a flat surface formed at a portion located at the one end from the retaining protrusion of the fixed piece or the insulator. It may be.
According to the present invention, since the engaging protrusion of the movable piece is positioned on one end side with respect to the retaining protrusion of the fixed piece, the contact length between the engaging protrusion and the retaining protrusion in the insertion / extraction direction of the contact object is increased. There is a directional space (distance). Therefore, it is possible to rotate the actuator to the unlock position by fitting the other end of the movable piece into the escape recess formed in the actuator instead of the through hole, and the position is at the unlock position. It is possible to prevent the actuator from coming off from the contact and insulator.
In addition, because the actuator is formed as a relief recess without forming a through-hole, the mechanical strength around the cam does not decrease even if the connector is shortened or the contacts are multi-polarized. Even when the pitch between the actuators is narrow, the mechanical strength of the actuator (particularly around the cam portion) is not greatly reduced.
Furthermore, actuators with relief recesses instead of through-holes can reduce the flow resistance of the resin material when molded using a molding die. ) It can be molded accurately.
In addition, since there is no escape recess on the lock holding surface side of the actuator, the lock holding surface can be formed larger. Therefore, since the actuator can be easily held at the lock position by the lock holding surface, a change in contact pressure between the contact (movable piece) and the connection target can be prevented.
According to the second aspect of the present invention, the retaining recess is formed independently of the escape recess into which the retaining projection fits independently and independently, so that the strength in the vicinity of the retaining recess can be improved. Therefore, the engagement of the retaining protrusion and retaining recess when the actuator is in the locked position improves the actuator's prevention effect (holding force). Will not come out.
Furthermore, since the relative movement in the insertion and withdrawal directions of the connection target with respect to the actuator contact (and insulator) can be regulated, the displacement of the movable piece is regulated, so that the fluctuation of the contact pressure and the contact resistance due to the movement of the actuator Can be suppressed.
Further, since the retaining protrusion does not hit the cam portion, there is no possibility that the cam portion is scraped by the retaining protrusion.
In addition, the retaining recess where the other end (engagement projection) of the movable piece does not fit when the actuator moves to the lock position is a recess independent of the escape recess, so the width and shape of the retaining recess are ( It can be set individually (without being affected by the escape recess), and there is no need to make it wider to match the escape recess.
If comprised like Claim 3, the retention function of the actuator by a retention protrusion will improve.
If the unlock holding surface is formed on the actuator as in the fourth aspect of the invention, the actuator can be easily held at the unlock position when the actuator moves to the unlock position.

An FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) 80 that is an object to be connected is a thin plate-like long object that can be elastically deformed, and its thickness is the distance between the

As described above, according to the present embodiment, since the
In the
Further, when the
In addition, since there is no
