Abstract
【解決手段】交互に形成された凹部と凸部とで構成される回折格子を有する透光性基板と、上記透光性基板上に充填された複屈折性液晶とを含む偏光性回折素子、及び上記偏光性回折素子の液晶上に連続して積層され、複屈折性を有する物質で形成された少なくとも一つの位相遅延層、を含む。

Description
本発明の実施例に係る位相遅延を有する偏光性回折素子1000は、偏光性回折素子1100及び位相遅延素子1200からなる。上記偏光性回折素子1100は、透光性基板1110と、上記透光性基板1110上に交互に形成された凹部と凸部とで構成される回折格子及び上記回折格子上に充填された複屈折性液晶1120を含む。
回折格子では、凹部と凸部とが交互に形成され難いことから、位置によって光の回折程度に差が発生し得る。
均一度(%)=(最大透過率−最小透過率)/(最大透過率+最小透過率)
(式中、最大透過率と最小透過率は、光透過率が最大である地点と最小である地点での光透過率を意味する。)
λ'=Δn・d
(式中、Δnは単一位相遅延層の複屈折率値であり、dは単一位相遅延層の厚みである。)
この時、説明の便宜上液晶1120が常光屈折率を有することになる方向に偏光された光を「常光線」といい、異常光屈折率を有することになる方向に偏光された光を「異常光線」という。

Claims (13)
- 凹部と凸部とが交互に配列した回折格子を有する透光性基板と、上記透光性基板の回折格子上に充填された複屈折性液晶とを含む、偏光性回折素子。
- 前記偏光性回折素子の液晶上に連続して積層され、複屈折性を有する物質で形成された一つ以上の位相遅延層をさらに含み、
前記位相遅延層は、少なくとも一つの波長に対して、位相遅延させることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の偏光性回折素子。 - 前記凹部の深さは0.2μm以上10μm以下に形成されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の偏光性回折素子。
- 前記凹部と凸部は階段状側壁が形成されたことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の偏光性回折素子。
- 前記透光性基板は光透過率が90%以上であり、前記透光性基板上に充填される液晶の高さは前記凸部の上端より高く、前記凹部の下端から1.2μm以上12μm以下に形成されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の偏光性回折素子。
- 前記透光性基板上に充填される液晶の高さは、前記凸部の上端から1μm以上2μm以下に形成されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の偏光性回折素子。
- 前記位相遅延層は、配向性を有する物質で形成されることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の偏光性回折素子。
- 前記液晶又は前記それぞれの位相遅延層の少なくとも一側面に配向膜が形成されることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の偏光性回折素子。
- 前記1層の位相遅延層は、下記式が満たされる位相遅延値λ'を有することを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の偏光性回折素子:
λ'=Δn・d
(式中、Δnは単一位相遅延層の複屈折率値であり、dは単一位相遅延層の厚みである。)。 - 前記多数の位相遅延層が積層されるとき、下部に積層される位相遅延層の上部面の表面接触角が80度以下であることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の偏光性回折素子。
- 前記多数の位相遅延層が積層されるとき、下部に積層される位相遅延層の上部面の濡れエネルギーが10mN/m以上であることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の偏光性回折素子。
- 前記液晶又は前記それぞれの位相遅延層の少なくとも一側面に、表面改質剤又は界面活性剤が塗布されることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の偏光性回折素子。
- 前記回折格子の表面は、前記液晶の長軸が上記回折格子の長手方向と平行に配列し得るように配向処理されていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の偏光性回折素子。
