Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a laminate obtained by embossing a laminate of paper and polyethylene, and an envelope using the laminate. The present invention also relates to a method and apparatus for producing this novel embossed laminate. The embossed laminate of the present invention is a buffer material suitable for use in applications requiring a simple buffer capacity. Accordingly, the envelope of the present invention using the embossed laminate is an envelope having a buffering capacity with a simple configuration.
A plastic bubble formed by vacuum forming a plastic film to form a cap film having a large number of cap-shaped protrusions, and bonding a flat plastic film on the bottom of the cap as a back film to form a number of sealed air chambers Sheets are mainly used as materials for cushioning packaging. In some cases, there is a plastic bubble sheet having a three-layer structure in which the top of the cap is connected and another flat plastic film is bonded as a liner film. There is a material obtained by laminating paper on the back film or liner film of these plastic foam sheets, and an envelope manufactured using the material is preferably used as a container having a function of protecting contents.
The above-mentioned plastic bubble sheet exhibits a considerably high buffering capacity against pressure or impact in the surface direction because air trapped inside the air chamber exhibits a buffering action. However, in some cases, the buffering capacity may not be required so high, and an envelope having a simpler structure and a temporary buffering capacity has been desired.
The basic object of the present invention is to take advantage of the above-mentioned new knowledge that embossing is possible for a laminated material of paper and polyethylene, which has been obtained by the inventors. Another object of the present invention is to provide an embossed laminate having a slight buffering capacity and usable as a simple material. A more practical object of the present invention is to provide a buffer envelope using this embossed laminate. It is also within the scope of the present invention to provide a method and apparatus for producing an embossed laminate and to provide a method for producing a buffer envelope using this material.
A basic embodiment of the embossed laminate of the present invention is shown in FIG. 1 as a representative example, and as shown in FIG. 2 in an enlarged cross section, a laminate in which polyethylene (12) is laminated on paper (11). Embossed laminate (1), which is embossed and provided with a number of embossments (2) that are perpendicular to the surface of the laminate and project at a certain height from the paper layer toward the polyethylene layer. (3).
The buffer envelope of the present invention uses this embossed laminate (3) as a material, and two of them are laminated with the polyethylene (12) layers facing each other, and heat sealed on both sides and the bottom. 4 and an envelope (7) as shown in FIG.
The method of the present invention for producing the embossed laminate (3) of the above basic aspect comprises the following steps:
[Laminating humidification process]
The process of humidifying the paper of the laminate (1) in which polyethylene (12) is laminated on the paper (11) and making it deformable [embossing process]
A step of forming the embossing (2) by sandwiching the laminate (1) that has been humidified and deformable between the pair of embossing rolls (D);
[Drying process]
A step of drying the wet paper of the laminate (1) on which the embossing (2) is formed, and [take-off step]
The formed embossed laminate (3) is taken up, wound or cut to a certain size.
The embossed laminate (3) of the present invention has a number of embossments (2) that are perpendicular to the plane of the laminate and project at a certain height from the paper layer toward the polyethylene layer. Demonstrates shock-absorbing ability to withstand pressure or impact applied in the direction. It is extremely lightweight, uses less material, and can be manufactured in a simple process, so the cost is low. Since the individual embosses are isolated, if the arrangement is isotropic in the vertical and horizontal directions, there can be no directionality with respect to the bending process, and the arrangement has anisotropy. If it chooses, it can give a certain degree of anisotropy regarding a bending process. Since there is a polyethylene layer on one side, it has heat sealability and water resistance.
The buffer envelope (7) of the present invention can protect the contents by the buffer capacity of the embossed laminate that is the material used. Product envelopes are also low cost because they can be manufactured by a simple and efficient method of heat sealing using low cost materials. Since the inside of the envelope is a polyethylene layer, it is slippery and the contents can be taken in and out smoothly. On the other hand, since the front side is paper, it has writing properties.
A significant variation of the embossed laminate of the present invention is that on the surface side of the embossing, i.e. the side of the paper layer, another sheet of paper, typically kraft paper, as shown in FIG. An embossed laminate (5) with a surface liner (4) applied.
The method of the present invention for producing an embossed laminate (5) of the above-described modified embodiment is a method for pasting the laminate and the surface liner to the method of producing the embossed laminate (3) of the above basic embodiment. As shown in FIG. 6, the process includes the following steps:
[Laminating humidification process]
Moistening the paper of the laminate (1) in which polyethylene (12) is laminated on the paper (11) to make it deformable;
[Embossing process]
Step of forming embossing (2) by sandwiching laminate (1) that has been humidified and made deformable between a pair of embossing rolls (D) [gluing step]
The process of applying the paste (6) to the surface of the embossed laminate (1) paper layer [surface liner bonding process]
The process of bonding the paper (4) as the front liner to the surface of the paper layer of the laminate (1) having the above glue using the bonding means (G) comprising a pair of rolls (G1, G2) [ Drying process]
A step of drying the wet paper of the laminate (1) on which the embossing (2) is formed, and [take-off step]
The formed embossed laminate (5) is taken up, wound or cut to a certain size.
In the method for producing the embossed laminate (5) of the above-described modified embodiment, starch slurry can be used as the paste (6). In this case, since the applied starch slurry has to be heated and gelatinized, a heating step such as spraying heated steam before bonding is required as shown in FIG. This technique will be readily implemented by those skilled in the art according to established practices for the manufacture of corrugated paper. If an adhesive such as an emulsion of polyvinyl acetate is used as the paste, instead of starch, this heating step is not necessary.

The apparatus of the present invention for producing a modified embossed laminate (5) consists of the above apparatus with the following components added, as shown in FIG.
-Supply means (B) for the front liner paper (4),
A gluing machine (E1) comprising a slurry bath (E1), a gluing roll (E2), a doctor roll (E3) and a guide roll (E4) for applying the starch slurry (6) to the paper layer of the laminate (1) ),
A gelatinizer (F) equipped with a superheated steam blowing nozzle for heating and gelatinizing the starch slurry (6) applied to the paper layer of the laminate (1), and an embossed laminate ( A laminating means (G) comprising a pair of rolls (G1, G2) for laminating 1) and the front liner base paper (4).
When an adhesive such as an emulsion of polyvinyl acetate is used instead of starch slurry as the paste, the pasting machine (F) is not required among the above devices.
A commercially available product can be used for the laminate (1) in which paper and polyethylene are laminated. The quality and thickness of the paper may be selected according to the use of the product embossed laminate. The thickness of the polyethylene layer is usually 10 to 20 [mu] m or less, as long as the surface can be sufficiently sealed when heat-sealing with the surfaces overlapped.
The height of the emboss, that is, the depth during processing, depends on the size of one emboss, but when it is easy to obtain a laminate of paper and polyethylene, a maximum of about 6 mm can be realized without problems. it can. Since the polyethylene layer is thin, it is deformed following the deformation of the paper in embossing to maintain the embossed shape. Once embossed, the shape remains well even during the process of drying the wet paper layer.
There are basically two types of embossing: lattice and zigzag. If embosses of the same size and shape are arranged in a lattice and the intervals are evenly spaced, the embossed laminate (3, 5) of the product will be In terms of strength and workability, there is no directivity at all in the MD (longitudinal) direction and the WD (width) direction. If the interval is made different between the MD direction and the WD direction, some directivity is generated accordingly. Similarly, in the staggered arrangement, if the pitch is the same in both the vertical and horizontal directions, the same characteristics as those obtained by making the intervals uniform in the lattice arrangement can be seen. There may be an arrangement that is inclined at a specific angle with respect to the MD direction at the time of manufacture. The larger the ratio of embossing to the area of the embossed laminate, the higher the cushioning ability in the surface direction, but there is a limitation in manufacturing, so it is preferable to select from 30 to 70%.
For manufacturing the buffer envelope (7) using the embossed laminate as a material, the above-described technology for manufacturing a buffer envelope using a composite material in which a plastic bubble sheet and paper are bonded together is useful. For example, the portion corresponding to the bottom of the envelope can be formed by folding the material. In that case, heat sealing only needs to be performed on both sides of the envelope. The part of the envelope called “Bello”, which is folded and sealed, hits the heat seal, flattenes it by crushing the embosses and eliminating the unevenness, and sticks double-sided adhesive tape etc. on it, making it easy to use as a lid Can be. It is also possible to use the method in which the contents are put in an envelope and then sealed by heat sealing. If necessary, it is possible to arbitrarily manufacture an envelope in which one envelope is a set of a plurality of subdivided portions by a combination of heat sealing and cutting.
When an envelope is manufactured using the modified embossed laminate (5) as a material, both the front and back surfaces of the envelope are almost smooth and the writing property is high, but the embossed laminate (3) of the basic embodiment is used as a material. In this case, there is an embossed dent on both the front and back sides of the envelope. If you want something that is more convenient for writing, you can do so by applying a sticker with appropriate dimensions on the back side of the envelope, whether it is on the front side or the back side. Reachable.
As one of a pair of rolls for forming embossing, first, a hemispherical projection having a base diameter of 6 mm and a height of 3 mm on the surface of a steel cylinder having a diameter of 30 cm, a pitch of 10 mm and a width of 10 mm A sculpture roll (D1) having a staggered arrangement was produced. Separately, a rubber roll (D2) having a rubber layer having a diameter of 60 cm and a thickness of 20 mm for receiving this engraving roll was prepared.
A laminate in which a thin film of polyethylene is laminated on one side of a paper having a thickness of 100 to 200 g / m 2 is used as a material, and the apparatus having the above-described configuration shown in FIG. Alternatively, an embossed laminate of the modified and basic aspects of the present invention was produced, respectively, using an apparatus having a configuration excluding the means necessary for laminating the front liner.
The resulting long embossed laminate was cut to a width of 66 cm and folded in half along the longitudinal direction so that one width was 36 cm and the other width was 31 cm. In the longitudinal direction, heat sealing is performed by sandwiching from above and below with a hot plate with a width of 2 cm every pitch of 24 cm, and after crushing the embossed parts that do not overlap, cut at the center of each heat sealing part, A4 size The buffer envelope which accommodates was obtained.
