Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a NOx sensor element that detects a NOx concentration in a gas to be measured.
Conventionally, a measurement gas chamber into which a measurement gas is introduced, a plurality of sensor cells for detecting NOx concentration in the measurement gas chamber, a pump cell for adjusting the oxygen concentration in the measurement gas chamber, and energization A NOx sensor element having a heater that generates heat is known (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
The sensor cell includes a measurement electrode disposed so as to face the gas chamber to be measured, and a reference electrode disposed so as to face the reference gas atmosphere. And the NOx sensor element excellent in the detection precision of NOx density | concentration can be obtained by comprising the said measurement electrode by Pt-Rh (platinum-rhodium alloy), for example.
However, the conventional NOx sensor element has the following problems. That is, if the content of Rh in the measurement electrode is too large, Rh in the measurement electrode will adsorb the O 2 gas in the atmosphere in the exhaust pipe or the like when the engine is stopped. As a result, the sensor output may be shifted. That, O 2 is O 2- next in said measuring electrode, the ion current flows through the sensor cell, thus makes a major output than sensor output due to the actual NOx concentration.
Further, when the surface area of the measurement electrode is large, the amount of O 2 gas adsorbed on the measurement electrode is increased, so that the sensor output may be larger than the normal value as described above.
As described above, the conventional NOx sensor element has a problem that the sensor output is deviated until the sensor output is stabilized due to the adsorption of O 2 gas in the gas to be measured.
The present invention has been made in view of such conventional problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a NOx sensor element in which output deviation hardly occurs and a control method thereof.
A first invention is a measurement gas chamber into which a measurement gas is introduced, a plurality of sensor cells that detect NOx concentration in the measurement gas chamber, and a pump cell that adjusts the oxygen concentration in the measurement gas chamber. A NOx sensor element having a heater that generates heat when energized,
The plurality of sensor cells include a main sensor cell and a sub sensor cell, and a measurement electrode disposed to face the measured gas chamber and a reference disposed to face a reference gas atmosphere, respectively. An electrode,
The measurement electrodes of the plurality of sensor cells are composed of a first noble metal made of Pt and a second noble metal made of Rh or Pd,
The measurement electrode of the main sensor cell is in the NOx sensor element characterized in that the content of the second noble metal in the whole electrode is larger than that of the measurement electrode of the sub sensor cell.
The function and effect of the present invention will be described.
In the present invention, the measurement electrodes of the plurality of sensor cells are composed of a first noble metal composed of Pt and a second noble metal composed of Rh or Pd, and the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell occupies the entire second electrode. Is more than the measurement electrode of the sub sensor cell. Thereby, it is possible to obtain a NOx sensor element in which output deviation hardly occurs.
In other words, such as immediately after engine start, but the sensor output of the NOx sensor element may not be stable, which O 2 gas other than O 2 in the measurement gas in the measurement electrodes of the sensor cell is due to adsorbed. Further, there is a problem that the sensor output is shifted due to the adsorption of the O 2 gas.
In order to solve this problem, the NOx sensor element of the present invention has, in addition to the main sensor cell, a sub sensor cell including a measurement electrode having a second noble metal content smaller than that of the measurement electrode in the main sensor cell. Here, the adsorption amount of the O 2 gas of the measurement electrode of the sub sensor cell having a small second noble metal content can be made smaller than the adsorption amount of the O 2 gas of the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell.
When the sensor output is not stable, the control of detecting the NOx concentration by the sub sensor cell can suppress the deviation of the sensor output due to the adsorption of O 2 gas to the measurement electrode. In addition, while the NOx concentration is detected in the sub sensor cell, the O 2 gas adsorbed on the main sensor cell can be removed by pumping the main sensor cell itself.
When the sensor output is stable when the O 2 gas at the measurement electrode is sufficiently removed, the NOx concentration can be detected with high accuracy by controlling the main sensor cell with a stable sensor output to detect the NOx concentration. it can. This is because the main sensor cell having a measurement electrode with a high noble metal content can obtain a more stable sensor output if there is no influence of the concentration of O 2 gas adsorbed on the measurement electrode.
As a result, it is possible to obtain a NOx sensor element in which output deviation hardly occurs through before and after the sensor output is stable.
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a NOx sensor element in which output deviation hardly occurs.
A second invention includes a measurement gas chamber into which a measurement gas is introduced, a plurality of sensor cells that detect the NOx concentration in the measurement gas chamber, and a pump cell that adjusts the oxygen concentration in the measurement gas chamber. A NOx sensor element having a heater that generates heat when energized,
The plurality of sensor cells include a main sensor cell that detects a NOx concentration immediately after the engine is started and at least one sub sensor cell that detects a NOx concentration other than immediately after the engine is started. A measurement electrode disposed so as to have a reference electrode disposed so as not to face the gas chamber to be measured,
The measuring electrode of the main sensor cell has a surface area larger than that of the measuring electrode of the sub sensor cell.
In the NOx sensor element of the present invention, the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell has a larger surface area than the measurement electrode of the sub sensor cell. Thereby, it is possible to obtain a NOx sensor element in which output deviation hardly occurs.
That is, as described above, there is a problem that the sensor output of the NOx sensor element is not stabilized due to the O 2 gas adsorbed on the measurement electrode immediately after the engine is started, and the sensor output is deviated.
In addition to the main sensor cell, the NOx sensor element of the present invention has a sub sensor cell including a measurement electrode having a smaller surface area than the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell. Here, the adsorption amount of the O 2 gas of the measurement electrode of the sub sensor cell having a small surface area can be made smaller than the adsorption amount of the O 2 gas of the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell.
When the sensor output is stable when the O 2 gas is sufficiently removed from the measurement electrode, the NOx concentration is controlled to be detected by the main sensor cell having a stable sensor output, as in the first aspect of the invention. The concentration can be detected with high accuracy.
As a result, it is possible to obtain a NOx sensor element in which output deviation hardly occurs through before and after the sensor output is stable.
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a NOx sensor element in which output deviation hardly occurs.
A third invention is a method of controlling a NOx sensor element according to the first invention (Invention 1) or the second invention (Invention 3),
The NOx sensor element control method is characterized in that the NOx concentration is detected by the sub sensor cell immediately after the engine is started, and then the NOx concentration is detected by switching from the sub sensor cell to the main sensor cell. 6).
In the control method of the present invention, immediately after the engine is started, the NOx concentration is detected by the sub sensor cell, and thereafter the NOx concentration is detected by the main sensor cell. By detecting the NOx concentration by such a method, the output deviation can be suppressed and the NOx concentration can be detected with high accuracy.
That is, as described above, immediately after the engine is started, O 2 gas is adsorbed on the measurement electrode, and output deviation is likely to occur.
In order to solve this problem, in the control method of the present invention, immediately after the engine is started, the sensor output is detected by the sub sensor cell having a small influence of O 2 gas, and in the meantime, the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell adsorbs to the measurement electrode. The O 2 gas is removed by pumping. After that, when the sensor output is stable when the O 2 gas at the measurement electrode is sufficiently removed, the NOx concentration can be detected with high accuracy by configuring the main sensor cell with a stable sensor output to detect the NOx concentration. it can.
Thus, by reducing the influence of the extra output due to the O 2 gas adsorbed on the measurement electrode when the engine is started, the output deviation can be suppressed and the NOx concentration can be detected with high accuracy.
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a method for manufacturing a NOx sensor element in which output deviation is less likely to occur.
A fourth invention is a method of controlling the NOx sensor element according to the first invention or the second invention,
When the output difference between the main sensor cell and the sub sensor cell exceeds a preset threshold, the NO sensor concentration is detected by the sub sensor cell, and the output difference between the main sensor cell and the sub sensor cell is In the NOx sensor element control method, the NOx concentration is detected by the main sensor cell when the value is equal to or less than the threshold value (Claim 7).
In the control method of the present invention, the sensor cell that detects the NOx concentration is switched based on the output difference between the main sensor cell and the sub sensor cell. Thereby, it is possible to detect the NOx concentration with high accuracy while suppressing the output deviation.
That is, in the control method of the present invention, when the output difference exceeds the threshold value, the NOx concentration is detected by the sub sensor cell having a small influence of O 2 gas and adsorbed to the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell. O 2 gas is removed by pumping the measuring electrode of the main sensor cell.
Thereafter, when the output difference falls below the threshold value, that is, when the O 2 gas in the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell is sufficiently removed and the sensor output of the main sensor cell becomes stable, the sensor output becomes stable. The NOx concentration is detected by the main sensor cell.
A fifth invention is a method of controlling the NOx sensor element according to the first invention and the second invention,
When the output of the main sensor cell exceeds a preset target value, the NOx concentration is detected by the sub sensor cell, and when the output of the main sensor cell is equal to or less than the target value, the main sensor cell detects NOx. The present invention resides in a method for controlling a NOx sensor element, wherein the concentration is detected.
In the control method of the present invention, the sensor cell for detecting the NOx concentration is switched by the output of the main sensor cell. Thereby, it is possible to detect the NOx concentration with high accuracy while suppressing the output deviation.
That is, in the control method of the present invention, when the main sensor cell output exceeds the target value, the NOx concentration is detected by the sub sensor cell having a small influence of O 2 gas, and adsorbed on the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell during that time. The O 2 gas which has been removed is removed by pumping the measuring electrode of the main sensor cell.
Next, when the output of the main sensor cell becomes equal to or less than the target value, that is, when the O 2 gas at the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell is sufficiently removed and the sensor output of the main sensor cell becomes stable, the sensor output The NOx concentration is detected by a stable main sensor cell.
In the first invention (invention 1), in the measurement electrode of the main sensor cell, the content of the second noble metal in the entire electrode is 6 to 60% by weight, and the measurement electrode of the sub sensor cell is an electrode. It is preferable that the content of the second precious metal in the whole is 5% by weight or less than that of the main sensor cell.
In this case, it is possible to manufacture a NOx sensor element that can sufficiently shorten the sensor output stabilization time and suppress output deviation.
On the other hand, when the content of the second noble metal in the entire measurement electrode of the main sensor cell is less than 6% by weight, the measurement accuracy of the sensor output can be sufficiently improved.
In addition, when the content of the second noble metal in the entire measurement electrode of the main sensor cell exceeds 60% by weight, there is a possibility that the time from when the engine is started until the sensor output is stabilized becomes long.
The difference between the content of the second noble metal in the entire measurement electrode of the main sensor cell and the content of the second noble metal in the entire measurement electrode of the sub sensor cell is less than 5% by weight. In some cases, the effect of providing the sub sensor cell in addition to the main sensor cell may be too small.
In the first invention (invention 1) and the second invention (invention 3), the main sensor cell preferably has a heating rate slower than that of the sub sensor cell (invention 4).
In this case, output deviation can be further suppressed. That is, immediately after the engine is started, the temperature of the sub sensor cell can be made higher than that of the main sensor cell, so that early activation can be achieved compared to the main sensor cell. For this reason, immediately after the engine is started, the sub sensor cell can be activated with respect to NOx rather than the main sensor cell. Furthermore, although the sub sensor cell has a large activity also with respect to O 2 , as described above, the adsorption amount of O 2 gas other than the gas to be measured at the measurement electrode of the sub sensor cell can be reduced. Therefore, the influence of O 2 gas other than the gas to be measured can be sufficiently reduced.
Therefore, if the NOx concentration immediately after the engine is started is detected by the sub sensor cell and the NOx concentration other than immediately after the engine is started is detected by the main sensor cell, the output deviation can be suppressed.
The plurality of sensor cells are preferably composed of one main sensor cell and one sub sensor cell.
In this case, it is possible to obtain a NOx sensor element that can suppress output deviation with a simple structure.
In the third invention (invention 7), the threshold value is preferably 3 to 30 ppm in terms of NOx concentration (invention 8).
In this case, the NOx concentration can be detected with high accuracy, and electrical noise can be sufficiently suppressed.
On the other hand, if the threshold is less than 3 ppm, it may be difficult to sufficiently suppress the generation of electrical noise.
Further, when the threshold value exceeds 30 ppm, it is difficult to say that the NOx concentration is accurately detected.
In the fourth invention (invention 9), the target value is preferably 3 to 30 ppm in terms of NOx concentration (invention 10).
In this case, the NOx concentration can be detected with high accuracy, and electrical noise can be sufficiently suppressed.

Below, the effect of this example is demonstrated.
In this example, the
In other words, such as immediately after engine start, but the sensor output of the
In order to solve this problem, in addition to the
Accordingly, when the sensor output is not stable, the

As a result, it is possible to obtain the
The

As described above, according to this example, it is possible to obtain a NOx sensor element in which output deviation hardly occurs.

The measurement results are shown in FIG.
As can be seen from the figure, when the Rh content is 6% by weight or more, the measurement accuracy can be sufficiently reduced to ± 1% or less.
On the other hand, when the content of Rh is less than 6% by weight, the measurement accuracy exceeds ± 1%, which may make it difficult to achieve sufficient measurement accuracy.

And the time when the sensor output was stabilized was measured for such a plurality of NOx sensor elements.
The measurement results are shown in FIG.
As can be seen from the figure, when the Rh content is 60% by weight or less, the stabilization time can be sufficiently reduced to 5 minutes or less.
On the other hand, when the content of Rh exceeds 60% by weight, it can be seen that the stabilization time exceeds 5 minutes and increases rapidly.
From the results of this example and the above Example 4, it can be said that the content of Rh is preferably 6 to 60% by weight from the viewpoint of achieving both measurement accuracy and stable time.

In this example, as shown in FIG. 13, the relationship between the NOx concentration detection accuracy in the
The detection accuracy of the NOx concentration represents an error in the measured value of the NOx concentration when the NOx concentration is 100 ppm. In this example, the reference value of the NOx concentration detection accuracy in the NOx sensor element is 40 ppm.
The measurement results are shown in FIG.
As can be seen from the figure, when the output difference is 30 ppm or less, the detection accuracy of the NOx concentration can be sufficiently reduced to a reference value or less.
On the other hand, when the output difference exceeds 30 ppm, it is difficult to make the NOx concentration detection accuracy below the reference value.
From the above, it can be seen that it is desirable that the output difference is 30 ppm or less, that is, the upper limit of the threshold value of the output difference is 30 ppm, from the viewpoint of improving the NOx concentration detection accuracy.

The measurement results are shown in FIG.
As can be seen from the figure, when the output difference is 3 ppm or more, the electrical noise occurrence frequency can be sufficiently reduced to 3 times / minute or less.
On the other hand, when the output difference is less than 3 ppm, it can be seen that the frequency of occurrence of electrical noise increases rapidly.
From the above, it can be seen that it is desirable that the output difference is 3 ppm or more, that is, that the lower limit of the threshold value of the output difference be 3 ppm from the viewpoint that electrical noise can be suppressed.
From the results of this example and Example 7, it can be said that the threshold is preferably 3 to 30 ppm from the viewpoint of achieving both improvement in NOx concentration detection accuracy and suppression of electrical noise.
