Description
盲目患者の網膜の網膜下刺激を行うために、電極を使用して持続時間が4ms以内の陽極パルスから始まる2相パルスが印加され、かつ異なる繰り返し周波数が印加される場合、すなわち所定の周波数の「フラッシュ」を一定のシーケンスで与えて興奮を引き起こした場合、患者の感受性に関して以下のことが観察された。
たとえば10Hz以上の高い周波数では、患者はフラッシュを短時間しか感じず、その後このフラッシュの主観的認知は消失する。
これに対し10Hz未満の中周波数電気刺激の場合には、刺激インパルスは少なくとも数秒間、個別のフラッシュとして認知される。
対照的に、数Hz以下の周波数では、それぞれのフラッシュは個別のフラッシュとして感じられ、この感覚は数分間安定したまま維持される。
Claims (6)
- 眼内、好ましくは眼内の網膜下スペースへ埋め込むための、接触する網膜の細胞に対して電気刺激信号を発する多数の刺激電極と、入射光を刺激信号に変換する多数の画像素子とを有する能動型網膜インプラントであって、該多数の刺激電極が、少なくとも2つの刺激電極グループに分割され、各グループが順次トリガされて刺激信号を発することを特徴とする能動型網膜インプラント。
- 刺激電極グループが4つ存在することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の網膜インプラント。
- 連結した画像素子に光が当たると刺激電極の各グループがトリガされ、刺激電極が持続時間が5ms未満、好ましくは約0.5ms未満でありかつ繰り返し周波数が20Hz未満である刺激インパルスを発することを特徴とする、請求項1または2に記載の網膜インプラント。
- 刺激電極の各グループの繰り返し周波数が約0.2Hzから6Hzの間にあることを特徴とする、請求項3に記載の網膜インプラント。
- 刺激電極グループがモザイク状のパターンに、不規則に、または行もしくは列でインターレースされるか、または各場合において少なくとも1つの刺激電極によって相互にオフセットされることを特徴とする、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の網膜インプラント。
- 移動不可能な方法で網膜に接続するためのアタッチメントポイントを有することを特徴とする、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の網膜インプラント。
