Claims (37)
- 初期偏光配向の直線偏光を変換する色消し偏光スイッチであって、
前記初期偏光配向に関し第1の配向軸を有する第1の液晶(LC)セルと、
前記第1の配向軸に関し第2の配向軸を有する第2のLCセルと、
を備え、
前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルは、位相差なしに前記直線偏光を通過させる第1の状態、および、前記直線偏光を実質的に半波長分遅延させる第2の状態でそれぞれ動作し、前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルは、同じ状態で同時に動作する、色消し偏光スイッチ。 - 前記第1の状態は、前記色消し偏光スイッチを通過する光を第1の直線偏光配向に変換し、前記第2の状態は、前記色消し偏光スイッチを通過する光を第2の直線偏光配向に変換し、前記第1の直線偏光配向は、前記第2の直線偏光配向と実質的に直交する、請求項1に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルに電気的に結合されるドライバをさらに備え、前記ドライバは、前記第1の状態および前記第2の状態において前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルを同時に駆動する、請求項1に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第1の状態は、前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルを高電圧範囲で駆動することを含み、前記第2の状態は、前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルを低電圧範囲で駆動することを含む、請求項3に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記高電圧範囲は、15乃至30ボルトであり、前記低電圧範囲はゼロ乃至5ボルトである、請求項4に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第1のLCセルに印加される前記高電圧は、前記第2のLCセルに印加される前記高電圧とは異なる、請求項5に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルは、実質的に等しい電圧レベルで同時に駆動される、請求項3に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルは、ゼロツイストネマティックセルである、請求項1に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記初期偏光配向に直線偏光させる直線偏光子をさらに備え、前記直線偏光子は、光路上に配置され、前記第1のLCセルは、前記光路上における前記直線偏光子の後ろに配置され、前記第2のLCセルは、前記光路上における前記第1のLCセルの後ろに配置される、請求項1に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第1の配向軸は、前記第2の配向軸からほぼ45度の角度を有する、請求項1に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第1の配向軸は、前記初期偏光配向に関し実質的に22.5度の角度を有する、請求項1に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第2の配向軸は、前記第1の配向軸に関し40乃至45度の範囲内にある、請求項11に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第2の配向軸は、前記初期偏光配向に関し実質的に67.5度の角度を有する、請求項12に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第1のLCセルと前記第2のLCセルとの間の光路に配置された第1の半波位相差板と、
前記光路上における前記第2のLCセルの後ろの第2の半波位相差板とをさらに備え、
前記第1の配向軸は、前記初期偏光配向から角度θ1度のところに位置し、
前記第1の半波位相差板は、前記初期偏光配向に関しθ度の配向軸を有し、
前記初期偏光配向に関する前記第2の配向軸の角度は、(45+2θ−θ1)度であり、
前記第2の半波位相差板は、前記初期偏光配向に関し(θ+90)度の配向軸を有する、
請求項1に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。 - 前記第1の配向軸は、前記第2の配向軸と実質的に同じである、請求項1に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記初期偏光配向に関しθ度で配向され、光路上における前記第1のLCセルの前に配置される第1の半波位相差板と、
前記初期偏光配向に関し、(2θ+90)度で配向され、光路上における前記第1のLCセルと前記第2のLCセルとの間に配置される第2の半波位相差板と、
前記初期偏光配向に関しθ度で配向され、光路上における前記第2のLCセルの後ろに配置される第3の半波位相差板と、
をさらに備える請求項15に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。 - 前記第1および第2の配向軸は、前記初期偏光配向に関し角度2θ±22.5度で配向される、請求項16に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 光路に沿って光を直線偏光させる直線偏光子と、
前記光路上における前記直線偏光子の後ろに配置される第1の位相差板と、
前記光路上における前記第1の位相差板の後ろに配置される第1の液晶(LC)セルと、
前記光路上における前記第1のLCセルの後ろに配置される第2の位相差板と、
前記光路上における前記第2の位相差板の後ろに配置される第2の液晶(LC)セルと、
前記光路上における前記第2のLCセルの後ろに配置される第3の位相差板と、
を備える色消し偏光スイッチ。 - 前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルに電気的に結合されるドライバをさらに含み、前記ドライバは、前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルを第1の状態および第2の状態で駆動し、前記第1の状態は、前記色消し偏光スイッチを通過する光を第1の直線偏光状態に変換し、前記第2の状態は、前記色消し偏光スイッチを通過する光を第2の直線偏光状態に変換し、前記第1の直線偏光状態と前記第2の直線偏光状態とは実質的に直交する、請求項18に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルは、ゼロツイストネマティックセルである、請求項18に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 初期偏光配向の直線偏光を変換する色消し偏光スイッチであって、
初期入力偏光に対し実質的に45度で配向され、光路上における直線偏光子の後ろに配置され、半波長の位相差を有する位相差板と、
半波長の位相差の位相差板を有する表面安定化強誘電性液晶(SSFLC)セルと、
を備え、
前記SSFLCの光軸配向は、印加される電界に応じて変化する、色消し偏光スイッチ。 - 前記SSFLCは、前記初期偏光配向に関し、実質的に135度の緩和状態の光軸を有し、前記SSFLCは、電界が印加されないとき前記緩和状態になる、請求項21に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記SSFLCセルの配向は、印加された電界の極性に従い、+25度乃至−25度の範囲内で前記緩和状態の光軸の回りを回転する、請求項22に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 前記SSFLCに電気的に結合されるドライバをさらに備え、前記ドライバは、前記SSFLCを第1の状態および第2の状態で駆動し、前記第1の状態は、前記SSFLCの前記配向を前記緩和状態の光軸の回りで一方向に回転させ、前記第2の状態は、前記SSFLCの前記配向を前記緩和状態の光軸の周りで反対方向に回転させる、請求項22に記載の色消し偏光スイッチ。
- 調光を出力するプロジェクションサブシステムと、
前記プロジェクションサブシステムからの前記調光を受ける色消し偏光サブシステムと、を備える色消し立体撮像用プロジェクションシステムであって、
前記色消し偏光サブシステムは、
初期偏光配向に関し第1の配向軸を有する第1の液晶(LC)セルと、
前記第1の配向軸に関し第2の配向軸を有する第2のLCセルと、
を含み、
前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルは、遅延なしに直線偏光を通過させる第1の状態、および、前記直線偏光を実質的に半波長分遅延させる第2の状態でそれぞれ動作し、前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルは、同じ状態で同時に動作する、プロジェクションシステム。 - 前記第1の状態は、前記色消し偏光サブシステムを通過する光を第1の直線偏光配向に変換し、前記第2の状態は、前記色消し偏光サブシステムを通過する光を第2の直線偏光配向に変換し、前記第2の直線偏光配向は、前記第1の直線偏光配向と実質的に直交する、請求項25に記載のプロジェクションシステム。
- 前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルに電気的に結合されるドライバをさらに備え、前記ドライバは、前記第1の状態および前記第2の状態において前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルを同時に駆動する、請求項25に記載のプロジェクションシステム。
- 前記第1の状態は、前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルを高電圧範囲で駆動することを含み、前記第2の状態は、前記第1のLCセルおよび前記第2のLCセルを低電圧範囲で駆動することを含む、請求項27に記載のプロジェクションシステム。
- 前記色消し偏光サブシステムから出力される光をプロジェクションスクリーンに向けるレンズをさらに備える、請求項25に記載のプロジェクションシステム。
- 前記色消し偏光サブシステムの前記第1の状態および前記第2の状態は、前記プロジェクションサブシステムからの前記出力調光と同期する、請求項25に記載のプロジェクションシステム。
- 前記第1のLCセルと前記第2のLCセルとの間の少なくとも1つの位相差板をさらに備える、請求項25に記載のプロジェクションシステム。
- 光路上における前記第1のLCセルの前の少なくとも第1の位相差板と、前記第2のLCセルの後ろの少なくとも第2の位相差板とをさらに備える、請求項25に記載のプロジェクションシステム。
