上記熱歪みを少なくするために例えば特許文献1に示すように定盤の内方に冷却装置の通路を形成するようにしたもの提案されているが、こうしたものでは構造が複雑になるだけでなく、厚みもさらに増して大型化してしまうという問題があった。

また、下部定盤部材7は図及び図に示すように、上部定盤部材8から飛び出さないように僅かに小形に形成されると共に、上下の定盤部材7・8が調和するように上部定盤部材8の下部周縁を約5mmの面取り12を施してある。
なお、図中符号13は作業用定盤1を台座2に取り付けるためのねじ穴である。
