Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a throw-away insert that is attached to a holder and used for cutting a metal material.
。 As a throw-away insert that cuts highly ductile materials such as stainless steel, alloy steel, and carbon steel, a cutting edge has been formed on the periphery of the rake face with a polygonal flat plate shape in plan view. There is a throw-away insert that forms a breaker groove along the edge and forms a protrusion on the opposite edge of the cutting edge across the breaker groove, and has a nose at the intersection of adjacent sides of the polygon (patent Reference 1).
When cutting a highly ductile material such as stainless steel, alloy steel, or carbon steel with a high depth of cut, the chips extend and get tangled with the work material or holder, or work is interrupted, or the extended chips are processed. There is a problem that the surface roughness decreases when hitting the surface. Even so, cutting of such highly ductile materials tends to be finished in one pass in order to promote higher efficiency, and the cutting becomes increasingly higher.
Accordingly, in the market, there is a demand for a throw-away insert capable of further improving efficiency in cutting of a material having high ductility than the current state.
The present invention has been made in view of the above, and an object of the present invention is to provide a throw-away insert capable of further improving efficiency in cutting of a material having high ductility.

According to the throw away insert of the present invention, even when a highly ductile material such as stainless steel, alloy steel, or carbon steel is cut with a high depth of cut, the chips do not extend and are crushed to an appropriate length. Therefore, it is possible to further improve the efficiency of cutting of a material with high ductility.
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. 1 is a plan view of the throwaway insert, FIG. 2 is a front view of the throwaway insert, FIG. 3 is a sectional view taken along line XX of FIG. 1, and FIG. FIG. 5 is an enlarged cross-sectional view of the main part indicated by the arrows in FIG. 1Y-Y, and FIG.
The
The
Furthermore, each part of the throw away
First, FIG. 4 shows a cross-sectional shape in the thickness direction that bisects the
In FIG. 4, the angle (αx1) formed by the
Further, in FIG. 4, the angle (αx2) formed by the protrusion-side
Further, in FIG. 4, the total length (Lx3) of the width (Lx1) of the blade-side inclined
Further, in FIG. 4, the width (Lx2) of the
Moreover, in FIG. 4, the height (Lx4) from the top part of the

Next, in FIG. 6, a cross-section of the main part of the part (the part indicated by the ZZ line in FIG. 1) where the virtual plane is translated 3 mm toward the straight part side of the

As described above with reference to FIGS. 5 and 6, by specifying the cross-sectional shapes of different locations as described above, the flow of chips changes due to changes in cutting conditions such as the amount of cut and feed and changes in the work material. In this case, a stable chip breaking effect can be obtained.
In addition, in the center of the
Since the throw away
Note that the throw away
That is, when the same portion is not an R shape but a sharp edge shape, chipping occurs at the edge portion when the chips guided from the
As mentioned above, although embodiment of this invention was described, of course, this invention is not limited to the said embodiment. For example, in the embodiment, one side of the throwaway insert is a rake face, but both sides may be rake face, and the shape is not limited to a square shape as well as a rhombus.
