本発明のカラーフィルター用顔料は遊離銅を含んでもよい。含まれる遊離銅は、銅フタロシアニンを合成する際の残存する遊離銅である場合や、合成後の銅フタロシアニンの分解によって生成したものである場合がある。
また、遊離銅は後記する酸類で洗浄を行うことができる。使用される酸類は、0.5%〜4%の塩酸または硫酸である。また、洗浄時の温度は、50〜90℃が好ましい。
ましい遊離銅の含有率は、顔料組成物中に900質量ppm以下である場合が挙げられ、これ以上の含有率の場合には、得られるカラーフィルターの耐熱性が低下するので好ましくない。
