Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a printer, and a facsimile.
Conventionally, an electrophotographic copying machine that forms a latent image on the surface of an image carrier such as a photoconductive photoconductor, develops and transfers the surface of the image carrier and cleans the latent image again is used in various practical applications. Has been.
Incidentally, in recent years, electrophotographic image forming apparatuses such as printers and copiers are increasingly used in various environments and printing conditions. Examples of the fluctuating environment include, for example, the number of continuous prints, the size of paper, and the image density in terms of temperature, humidity, and printing conditions. Such fluctuations in the environment and conditions are designed with some assumptions, but failure may occur in extreme cases that are not assumed.
Examples of unexpected failures caused by such special environments and special conditions include, for example, turning over of the cleaning blade, developing toner fog, fixing offset, and the like.
For example, in continuous printing or when the image density is low, the friction force between the blade and the image carrier increases, and the blade may turn over. For such a failure, a method has been proposed in which the occurrence of a failure is detected and a prepared measure is introduced (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
However, in the invention described in
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus capable of ensuring print productivity when a failure avoidance mode is not necessary, predicting a trouble, and preventing in advance and preventing recurrence.
In order to achieve the above object, an image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes an image forming unit that forms an image on a transfer sheet, a detecting unit that detects a condition at the time of image formation by the image forming unit, and whether a failure has occurred. A determining means for determining whether or not, a storage means for storing a condition detected by the detecting means in response to a determination that a failure has occurred, and a control means for executing a failure avoidance mode. Whether the control unit executes the failure avoidance mode based on the condition detected by the detection unit and the condition stored in the storage unit when the image forming operation is performed by the image forming unit. It is characterized by switching whether or not.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus capable of ensuring print productivity when a failure avoidance mode is not necessary, predicting a trouble, and preventing in advance and preventing recurrence.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In all the drawings of the following embodiments, the same or corresponding parts are denoted by the same reference numerals.
(First embodiment)
First, the image forming apparatus according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be described. FIG. 1 is a diagram showing a schematic configuration of an image forming apparatus (copier) according to the present embodiment.
The image forming apparatus is provided with an

In the image forming apparatus configured as described above, first, the surface of the
The electrostatic latent image is developed by the developing
On the other hand, after the toner image is transferred, the developer remaining on the surface of the
Hereinafter, a specific control method at the time of failure in the present embodiment will be described. FIG. 2 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration of a controller that controls the entire image forming apparatus.
The controller includes a CPU circuit unit 101, and the CPU circuit unit 101 includes a CPU (not shown), a
The
The image
At the same time, the
The operation display
FIG. 3 is a flowchart for explaining the control of this embodiment. First, the CPU circuit unit 101 waits for an instruction for a printing operation from the operation display device control unit 121 (S10). When there is an instruction for a printing operation, the CPU circuit unit 101 receives print mode data from the operation display
Then, the CPU circuit unit 101 temporarily records the data received in step S11 in the RAM 103 (S12). The CPU circuit unit 101 compares the received print mode data and environmental data with a failure history stored in the
If it is determined in step S13 that the condition is similar to the previously failed condition, the CPU circuit unit 101 instructs the
On the other hand, if it is not similar to the failure history in step S13, the CPU circuit unit 101 issues a print execution command without issuing a failure avoidance mode setting request to the printer control unit 124 (S17). In other words, if it is not similar to the past failure history, it is considered unlikely that a failure will occur, so there is no need to execute the failure avoidance mode and prevent the occurrence of downtime by executing the failure avoidance mode it can.
While the printing operation is being executed in steps S15 and S17, the image carrier driving torque sensor 113 monitors the occurrence of failure such as blade turning, and the CPU circuit unit 101 determines whether or not the failure has occurred (S18). When a failure occurs, the CPU circuit unit 101 records, in the
FIG. 4 is a diagram showing whether or not blade turning and blade chipping occur when various conditions are changed in the present embodiment. In this embodiment, the cleaning blade turned over at the time of 350 continuous prints (Experiment No. 1). Here, the CPU circuit unit 101 detects that a failure has occurred. As a method of detecting blade turning, a change in rotational torque of the image carrier may be used, or an analogy may be made from image defects.
The CPU circuit unit 101 has a temperature of 33 ° C. and a humidity of 85% as an environment at the time of failure, an average image density of 5% as a printing condition, a paper type of A5R, a count of 500 pages continuously, and blade turning. 350 sheets are recorded in the
The CPU circuit unit 101 checks whether the information in the
As the failure avoidance mode, a mode that is effective for turning over the blade, for example, a toner band may be developed and lubricating toner particles may be sent to the
Due to the failure avoidance mode performed in the present embodiment, blade turning did not occur even in the environment and conditions where blade turning occurred last time (Experiment No. 2).
Experiment No. 3 to No. 17 shows whether or not the blade is turned over when the combination of various conditions is changed. From this result, it can be seen that when two or more conditions are satisfied, blade turning or blade chipping is likely to occur. In particular, this is likely to occur in a combination in which one or more of the environment in which the blade is turned over and the print mode match each other.
From the above results, it is possible to prevent the recurrence of blade turning by storing the main body environment and the print mode in which blade turning has occurred, and then inserting a failure avoidance mode when the same conditions are met.
FIG. 5 is a diagram illustrating the productivity of the image forming apparatus when the failure avoidance mode is inserted. In the image forming apparatus used in the present embodiment, the productivity when the failure avoidance mode is not inserted is 30 sheets / minute. In the failure avoidance mode, the toner band is developed every 50 sheets, and printing is interrupted for about 7 seconds in order to send it to the cleaning unit. When 500 sheets are printed by inserting the failure avoidance mode under the condition that the blade is not turned over, the productivity decreases from 30 sheets / minute to 28.5 sheets / minute. If this embodiment is used, the failure avoidance mode is not entered under conditions where blade turning does not occur, so productivity is not lowered.
From the above results, it is possible to maintain the apparatus for a long period of time by preventing the recurrence of the turning of the cleaning blade while maintaining the normal productivity.
(Second Embodiment)
Next, a second embodiment will be described. Troubles that occur under unexpected conditions include the development toner fog phenomenon. In this embodiment, an example in which the failure avoidance mode is applied to development fog will be described. In addition, description is abbreviate | omitted about the part with the same structure as 1st Embodiment.
The toner fog phenomenon in development often occurs when the main body environment is high temperature / high humidity and low temperature / low humidity, and is likely to occur when the number of printed sheets increases once. This is a deterioration phenomenon in which the toner cannot obtain an appropriate charge because the charge is not properly applied from the carrier to the toner or stays in the developing device without being developed under the above conditions. Because it happens.
The image forming apparatus of the present embodiment illustrated in FIG. 6 is provided with an
The
FIG. 7 is a diagram showing a result of occurrence of toner fog depending on the presence / absence of the toner discharge mode in the present embodiment. When 500 A5R size prints were made continuously under low temperature / low humidity, the
Experiment No. In No. 21, as a failure avoidance mode, ten toner bands each having a size of about 310 mm in the main scanning direction, about 100 mm in the sub scanning direction, and a density of 0.2 mg / square centimeter are developed every 200 sheets. As a result, the occurrence of fog is not detected by the
FIG. 8 is a diagram illustrating the productivity of the image forming apparatus when the failure avoidance mode is inserted. In the image forming apparatus used in the present embodiment, the productivity when the failure avoidance mode is not inserted is 30 sheets / minute. As a failure avoidance mode, printing is interrupted for about 60 seconds in order to develop the toner band every 200 sheets and collect it in the cleaner section. When 500 sheets are printed with the failure avoidance mode inserted under the condition that toner fog does not occur, the productivity is reduced from 30 sheets / minute to 26.7 sheets / minute. If the present embodiment is used, the failure avoidance mode is not entered under the condition where toner fog does not occur, so that the productivity is not lowered.
From the above results, it is possible to prevent the toner fog from recurring while maintaining the normal productivity and maintain the apparatus for a long time.
