Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a printing apparatus that prints an image, an optical disk duplicating apparatus including the printing apparatus, and a control method for the printing apparatus.
By the way, in a printing apparatus that performs printing on a disk type recording medium, various causes such as a positional deviation of the print head, a positional deviation when the disk type recording medium is conveyed, and the disk type recording medium is not set at the correct position, etc. As a result, when the relative position of the print head and the disk type recording medium is displaced, ink or the like may protrude outside the printable area. Since the disc base made of synthetic resin is exposed outside the printable area, if the ink protrudes from the printable area, the protruded ink may not be fixed and the inside of the printing apparatus may be soiled. It was.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described circumstances, and in a printing apparatus that prints an image on a label surface of a disk type recording medium, ink or the like does not protrude outside a printable area formed on the label surface. The purpose is to do so.
In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the present invention scans a carriage on which a print head is mounted in a direction substantially perpendicular to the transport direction while transporting the optical disc type recording medium in a predetermined transport direction. Print control means for printing an image on the printable area; and position detection means for detecting the position of the printable area in the scanning direction of the carriage. The print control means is detected by the position detection means. The printing apparatus is characterized in that printing of an image is stopped when the position is deviated from a previously stored position.
According to this configuration, while the optical disk type recording medium is transported in a predetermined transport direction, the carriage on which the print head is mounted is scanned in a direction substantially perpendicular to the transport direction, and an image is printed on the printable area by the print head. In this case, the position of the printable area in the scanning direction of the carriage is detected by the position detection unit, and printing of the image is stopped when the detected position is different from the previously stored position. Thereby, when the relative position shift | offset | difference of a printable area | region and a print head arises, an ink etc. do not adhere outside a printable area | region by stopping printing, and the inside of an apparatus, etc. can be prevented.
In the present invention, the carriage is provided with a sensor for detecting the presence or absence of the printable area at a position facing the carriage, and the position detection means is in a detection state of the sensor while scanning the carriage. On the basis of this, the position of the printable area in the scanning direction of the carriage may be obtained.
In this case, since the printable area is detected by scanning the carriage using the sensor mounted on the carriage, the position of the printable area in the scanning direction of the carriage can be detected reliably and promptly. With this configuration, the number and size of sensors can be reduced, and furthermore, the position of the printable area can be detected by the same operation as during printing, so there is no need to provide a new drive unit or the like. Therefore, it can be realized easily and at low cost by effectively using the configuration of a normal printing apparatus.
The sensor may be disposed on the carriage so as to face the optical disc type recording medium, and may be positioned on a side of the print head along a scanning direction of the carriage.
In this case, since the position of the printable area can be detected at a position close to the print head, it is possible to reliably detect a positional shift that may interfere with printing.
Further, a plurality of sensors may be arranged side by side in the scanning direction of the carriage, and the plurality of sensors may be positioned on both sides of the print head.
In this case, since the position of the printable area is detected using a plurality of sensors arranged so as to sandwich the print head in the scanning direction of the carriage, the position of the printable area can be detected with higher accuracy. That is, for example, the position can be detected with high accuracy by performing detection with a plurality of sensors while scanning the carriage and performing arithmetic processing by combining the detection values of the plurality of sensors. In addition, detection is performed using one sensor while scanning the carriage in the forward direction, detection is performed using the other sensor while scanning the carriage in the reverse direction, and these detection results are calculated together. Thus, the position of the printable area can be detected with higher accuracy.
In the present invention, the position detecting means is in a state in which the optical disc type recording medium is conveyed until the center of the optical disc type recording medium reaches a position facing the carriage before printing is started by the print control means. The position of the printable area may be detected.
In this case, since the position of the printable area is detected before printing is started, the positional deviation can be detected quickly, and the throughput of a large number of optical disk recording media can be improved. Further, by detecting the position where the diameter of the optical disc type recording medium becomes the largest by conveying the optical disc type recording medium until it reaches the position facing the carriage, the positional deviation can be detected more reliably.
In the present invention, the print head may print an image by ejecting ink toward the printable area.
In this case, it is more effective because the ink is not adhered to the outside of the printable area by detecting the positional deviation and stopping the printing.

When the image is to be printed, the position of the printable area in the carriage scanning direction is detected by the position detecting means, and the printing of the image is stopped when the detected position is different from the previously stored position. As a result, when the relative position between the printable area and the print head is shifted, printing is stopped and ink or the like is not adhered to the outside of the printable area, so that the internal contamination of the apparatus can be prevented.
The present invention also relates to a control method for a printing apparatus that prints an image in a printable area provided on one surface of an optical disk type recording medium, wherein the print head is conveyed while the optical disk type recording medium is conveyed in a predetermined conveyance direction. Is scanned in a direction substantially perpendicular to the conveyance direction, and an image is printed on the printable area by the print head, while a position of the printable area in the scanning direction of the carriage is detected and detected.

If there is a deviation exceeding the allowable amount at the edge position of the

Further, when the process of step S17 is first performed and then the process proceeds to step S18, and when the process of step S17 is performed after the second time and there is the next print data (step S18; Yes), the

As described above, according to the optical
A
Further, the

Hereinafter, this configuration example will be described as a second embodiment.

As shown in FIG. 10, in the

The
As a specific example, the

Here, the
If there is a deviation exceeding the allowable amount at the edge position of the

Further, when the process of step S37 is first performed and then the process proceeds to step S38, and when the process of step S37 is performed after the second time and there is the next print data (step S38; Yes), the
The
On the other hand, if there is a deviation exceeding the allowable amount in the position of the edge of the
