Description

The present invention relates to a bookbinding method suitable for increasing the number of booklets having the same size but different numbers of pages, such as comic books, paperback books, new book books, and the like.

Conventionally, when a book with more than the basic number of pages, for example, a book with more than 192 pages, such as 224 pages, 240 pages, 256 pages, 288 pages, is bound to the bookbinding line of a book with a basic number of pages, for example, 192 pages. 192 pages are printed and signatures are formed and accumulated, while other signatures having an increased number of pages, for example, 32 pages, 48 pages, 64 pages and 96 pages of integrated signatures are produced by other devices. Then, using a collating machine incorporated in the bookbinding line, a method is employed in which the accumulated signatures having the increased number of pages are additionally collated with the accumulated signatures for the 192 pages.

However, the conventional bookbinding method has problems in both quality and work. First, in terms of quality, there is a problem that a difference in shading occurs between a signature having the basic page number and a signature having an increased number of pages, and the difference in the band used for both signatures or the difference in printing conditions and timing. Due to the difference in the amount of water contained in the strip, the difference in elongation occurs between the sheets of the basic page and the sheets of the increased page, which has a problem of forming irregularities in the book. Such a booklet is returned as a defective product, which not only suffers an economic loss but also deteriorates productivity.

Next, on the work side, when collating an increased number of pages with a collating machine incorporated in the bookbinding line, the problem of worsening productivity due to the occurrence of defective books due to random or missing pages, etc. There is a problem that special workers must be assigned.

Furthermore, in order to produce a signature with an increased number of pages using another apparatus or to request another company, there is a problem that the entire production period of the booklet becomes long.

In the case of a book having substantially the same size, the present invention performs a required page increase by collating a double-sided imprinting integrated signature having an additional page with a double-sided imprinting signature having a basic number of pages. The present invention provides a bookbinding method that effectively solves the problems in quality and work in the prior art.

The bookbinding method according to the present invention includes performing double-sided imposition printing having a basic number of pages on a strip supplied from a first base paper roll, and applying a second plate cylinder to the strip supplied from a second base paper roll. The double-sided imposition printing having the increased number of pages is performed, and the double-sided imposition printing integrated signature having the increased number of pages is collated with the integrated signature of the double-sided imposition printing having the basic page to form a predetermined page. Regarding the method.

In the bookbinding method, the first plate cylinder and the second plate cylinder having the same circumferential length are used, and double-sided imposition printing having the basic page number is performed by one rotation of the first plate cylinder, A plurality of units of double-sided imposition printing having the increased number of pages per rotation are applied. That is, a plurality of units of double-sided imposition printing is performed with one unit of double-sided imposition printing having the same content having an increased number of pages per rotation of the second plate cylinder.

The rotation speed (S2) of the second printing cylinder with respect to the rotation speed (S1) of the first printing cylinder was set to S2 = S1 ÷ double-side imposition printing unit number (T), and obtained from the first printing cylinder. Double-sided imprinting signatures with the basic number of pages are collated with one unit of accumulating signatures during double-sided imposition printing with the increased number of pages obtained from the second plate cylinder, and a predetermined number of pages To.

Hereinafter, for the integrated signature of double-sided imposition printing having the following basic page number, another one-sided double-sided imprinting in plural units having an increased number of pages similarly obtained from the second plate cylinder The operation of collating the imprint signatures for imposition printing to make the predetermined number of pages is repeated.

The strip of the second base paper roll uses a strip having a width half that of the strip of the first base paper roll according to the increased number of pages. Alternatively, as the strip of the second base paper roll, a strip having the same width as the strip of the first base paper roll is used according to the increased number of pages.

In any case, the half-width band or full-width band is subjected to a plurality of units of double-sided imposition printing with one-sided double-sided imposition printing having an increased number of pages in one rotation of the second plate cylinder.

For example, when a booklet of 224 pages and 240 pages is formed by adding 32 pages and 48 pages to the basic page number of 192 pages, a full width strip is used as the first base paper roll, and the second base paper roll is used. A half-width strip is used, and the above-mentioned double-sided imprinting is performed on the half-width strip with a second plate cylinder.

For example, in the case of forming a booklet of 256 pages and 288 pages by adding 64 pages and 96 pages to the basic page number of 192 pages, a mono-width band is used as the first and second base paper rolls, The equal width strip is subjected to double-sided imprinting on the plurality of units with a second plate cylinder.

According to the present invention, when the number of pages is increased to a book having the same size, the conventional problems in quality and work are effectively solved, and the quality of the increased number of pages is improved and the yield is increased. Improvements can be made and productivity can be greatly improved. Moreover, shortening of the production period and labor saving can be achieved. In addition, the occurrence of defective books and returned books can be effectively reduced.

The best mode for carrying out a bookbinding method according to the present invention will be described below with reference to FIGS. This bookbinding method includes a first bookbinding line for performing double-sided imposition printing 4 with a basic number of pages and a second bookbinding line for performing double-sided imposition printing 8 with an increased number of pages.

The peripheral length of the first plate cylinder 3 for applying the double-sided imposition printing 4 for the basic page number and the second plate cylinder 7 for applying the double-sided imposition printing 8 for the increased number of pages, that is, the first and second plate cylinders 3, 7 The circumferences of the stamp plates wound around are equal to each other.

Reference numeral 1 denotes a first base paper roll for supplying the strip 2 to the first binding line, and reference numeral 5 denotes a second base roll for supplying the strip 6 to the second binding line. The double-sided imprinting 4 having the basic page number is performed by one rotation of the first plate cylinder 3. That is, imposition printing 4 having half the number of basic pages is applied to one side of the band 2, and imposition printing 4 having the remaining half of the number of pages is applied to the other side.

On the other hand, a plurality of units of double-sided imprinting 8 having an increased number of pages are applied to both sides of the strip 6 supplied from the second base paper roll 5 by one rotation of the second plate cylinder 7. That is, a plurality of units of imposition printing 8 having one half of the increased number of pages is applied on one side of the strip 6 and a plurality of units having the remaining half of the number of pages on the other side. A supplementary print 8 is applied.

The rotation speed S2 of the second plate cylinder 7 with respect to the rotation speed S1 of the first plate cylinder 3 is set to S2 = S1 ÷ double-sided imposition printing unit number T, and the double-sided imposition printing 4 having the basic page number is set. The timing for accumulating the integrated signature 6d of each unit double-sided imprint 8 having an increased number of pages is set for the integrated signature 2d.

Then, the unit double-sided imposition printing 8 having an increased number of pages obtained from the second plate cylinder 7 on the integrated signature 2d of the double-sided imposition printing 4 having the basic number of pages obtained from the first plate cylinder 3 described above. The integrated signature 6d of one unit of the double-sided imprint 8 is collated to a predetermined number of pages.

Hereinafter, similarly, the integrated signature 6d of the double-sided imposition print 8 of the other unit in the plural-sided imposition printing 8 having the increased number of pages is accumulated in the double-sided imposition printing 4 having the following basic page number. The operation of collating with the signature 2d and setting the predetermined number of pages is repeated.

1 to 4 show a first embodiment of a bookbinding method constructed based on the basic idea, and FIGS. 5 to 7 show a second embodiment of a bookbinding method constructed based on the basic idea. This embodiment can be applied to the case where a booklet of 240 pages is formed by adding 48 additional pages to the number of basic pages of 192 pages.

As described above, the first plate cylinder 3 of the double-sided printing machine constituting the first bookbinding line and the second plate cylinder 7 of the double-sided printing machine constituting the second bookbinding line have the same circumferential length. Use those with the same diameter.

The width W2 of the strip 6 of the second base paper roll 5 is a half width of the width W1 of the strip 2 of the first base paper roll 1.

As shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2A, a strip 2 supplied from the first base paper roll 1 constituting the first bookbinding line is provided between a pair of first plate cylinders 3 constituting a double-sided printing machine, A double-sided imprint 4 having a basic page number of 192 pages is applied to the band 2 through the blanket cylinder by one rotation of the plate cylinder 3.

That is, imposition printing 4 of 8 rows and 12 columns (96 pages in total) is applied to one side of the strip 2 in vertical and horizontal alignment, and imposition of 8 pages and 12 pages (96 pages in total) on the other side. Print 4 is applied in vertical and horizontal alignment.

Next, as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2B, the strip 2 having been subjected to double-sided printing on page 192 is slit by the slitter 11 on the center imposition line 4c in the column direction (band travel direction). The print 4 is divided into two equal parts to form a two-strip cut paper 2a having a half-page imposition print 4a of 96 pages.

Next, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3C, each of the half-cut strips 2a is formed using a known triangular folded plate 12 on the center line in the running direction of the half-cut strip, that is, the longitudinal center plane line of the half-cut double-sided imprint 4a. The sheet is folded in half on 4d to form the primary folded half-cut band 2a '.

Next, as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 3D, both the primary folded and cut strips 2a 'are turned 90 degrees through, for example, the turn bar 13, and overlap each other.

Next, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3E, the above-mentioned two-folded primary folded half-cut strip 2a 'is used on the center line in the running direction of the primary folded half-cut strip 2a' using the known triangular folded plate 14, that is, half-folded half-cut. The double-sided imprint 4a is further folded in half on the first and third vertical imposition lines 4e to form a secondary folded half-cut band 2b.

Next, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3F, the cutting device 15 performs cutting on the horizontal imposition line orthogonal to the traveling direction of the imposition printing 4, that is, the second horizontal imposition line 4b. Next, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3G, the six signatures 2c are stacked through a known integrated signature forming apparatus to form a collated stacked signature 2d.

The integrated signature forming apparatus is indispensable in the bookbinding line, and various structures used in each bookbinding maker can be adopted. For example, Japanese Patent No. 2807216 or Japanese Patent No. 1922492 is used. Can do.

On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 4, the half-width strip 6 supplied from the second base paper roll 5 constituting the second binding line is provided between a pair of second plate cylinders 7 constituting a double-sided printing machine, and the half-width strip is provided. 6, a plurality of double-sided imprints 8 having an increased number of pages of 32 pages are applied through the blanket cylinder by one rotation of the second plate cylinder 7.

That is, in the case of bookbinding of 224 pages by adding 32 pages to 192 pages, the double-sided imposition printing 8 having an increased number of pages of 32 pages is set as one unit on the half-width strip 6 and the double-sided imposition printing 8 is applied in three units. .

In other words, imposition printing 8 of 4 rows and 12 columns (48 pages in total) is applied on one side of the strip 6 in vertical and horizontal alignment, and 4 rows and 12 pages (48 pages in total) on the other side. Imposition printing 8 is performed in a vertical and horizontal alignment.

When binding 224 pages by adding 32 pages to 192 pages, three units of imposition printing 8 divided by horizontal imposition lines 8b 'for every four columns in the imposition printing 8 are formed. The three units of imposition printing 8 have the same contents, and one unit of imposition printing 8 forms two signatures 6c.

Further, in the case of adding 48 pages to 192 pages and binding 240 pages, it is divided by the horizontal imposition line 8b ″ every six columns in the imposition printing 8, that is, the central horizontal imposition line 8b ″. Two-unit imposition printing 8 is formed. The two units of imposition printing 8 have the same contents, and one unit of imposition printing 8 forms three signatures 6c.

As described above, the first plate cylinder 3 and the second plate cylinder 7 have the same circumference in any of the cases of bookbinding on the pages 224 and 240, and the width of the strip 6 of the second base paper roll 5 is the same. W2 is half the width W1 of the strip 2 of the first base paper roll 1.

Therefore, the imposition length W3 (size in the belt running direction) of the double-sided imprint 4 printed on the first plate cylinder 3 and three units (in the case of 224 pages) or two units printed on the second plate cylinder 7 ( The imposition length W4 of the double-sided imposition print 8 (in the case of 240 pages) is the same length as the imposition length W4 (dimension in the belt running direction), and the imposition width of the double-sided imprint 4 printed on the first plate cylinder 3 ( The imposition width W2 'of the three- or two-unit double-sided imprint 8 printed on the second plate cylinder 7 is half the width of the dimension W1' in the direction perpendicular to the belt running direction.

When a booklet of 224 pages is formed by adding 32 pages to 192 pages, as shown in FIG. 8A, the first plate cylinder 3 of the first bookbinding line has a double-sided imposition of 192 pages over 360 degrees. The second plate cylinder 7 of the second bookbinding line is divided into 360 degrees as shown in FIG. 8B, and imposition printing with the same contents is applied to each section, while the printing plate 9 has the printing plate 9 to which the printing 4 is applied. It has a printing plate 10.

When a booklet of 240 pages is formed by adding 48 pages to page 192, as shown in FIG. 9A, the first plate cylinder 3 of the first bookbinding line has a double-sided imposition of 192 pages all around 360 degrees. The second plate cylinder 7 of the second bookbinding line is divided into 360 degrees as shown in FIG. 9B, and imposition printing with the same contents is applied to each section, while the stamp plate 9 to be printed 4 is provided. It has a printing plate 10.

When the booklet of 224 pages is bound, the rotational speed S2 of the second plate cylinder 7 with respect to the rotational speed S1 of the first plate cylinder 3 is set to S2 = S1 ÷ 3 (the number of double-sided imposition printing units). The timing for accumulating the integrated signature 6d of each unit double-sided imprinting 8 having an increased number of pages is set for the integrated signature 2d of double-sided imposition printing 4 having the basic number of pages.

In other words, when binding a book of 224 pages, the supply speed of the second base paper roll 5 is reduced to one third with respect to the supply speed of the first base paper roll 1, and the rotation of the first plate cylinder 3 is similarly performed. The rotational speed (printing speed) of the second plate cylinder 7 is reduced to one third with respect to the speed (printing speed). The first and second base paper rolls 1 and 5 and the first and second plate cylinders 3 and 7 are controlled by a servo motor to perform the above speed settings.

As a result, the supply speed of the six integrated signatures 2d shown in FIGS. 3F and 3G formed in the first bookbinding line and the two integrated signatures 6d shown in FIGS. 4D and 4E formed in the second bookbinding line. Synchronize with the supply speed.

When the booklet of 240 pages is bound, the rotational speed S2 of the second plate cylinder 7 with respect to the rotational speed S1 of the first plate cylinder 3 is set to S2 = S1 / 2 (the number of printing units on both sides). Thus, the timing for stacking the integrated signature 6d of each unit duplex imprint 8 having an increased number of pages is set for the integrated signature 2d of duplex imprint 4 having the basic number of pages.

In other words, the supply speed of the second base paper roll 5 is reduced by half with respect to the supply speed of the first base paper roll 1, and similarly the second plate cylinder 7 with respect to the rotation speed (printing speed) of the first plate cylinder 3. Decrease the rotation speed (printing speed) by half. The first and second base paper rolls 1 and 5 and the first and second plate cylinders 3 and 7 are controlled by a servo motor to perform the above speed settings.

Accordingly, the supply speed of the six integrated signatures 2d shown in FIGS. 3F and 3G formed on the first binding line is synchronized with the supply speed of the three integrated signatures 6d formed on the second binding line. Take.

Next, as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 4B, the strip 6 imprinted on the second binding line is printed on the central folding line in the running direction of the strip, that is, double-sided imposition, using a known triangular folding plate 17. Folded in half on the longitudinal center imposition line 8d of the print 8a to form a primary folded strip 6a.

Next, as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 4C, the above-mentioned primary folding strip 6 a is used on the central folding line in the running direction of the primary folding strip 6 a, that is, the longitudinal direction of the double-fold double-sided imprinting 8 a. On the imposition line 8e, the sheet is further folded in two to form a secondary folded band 6b.

Next, when binding a book of 224 pages, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 4D, the primary folding strip 6a is cut by the cutting device 19 at the horizontal imposition line 8b of the second and fourth rows. Two signatures 6c are formed. The two signatures 6c have imposition prints 8 for a total of 32 pages. As shown in FIG. 4E, the two signatures 6c are accumulated to form a collated accumulation signature 6d. .

When a booklet of 240 pages is bound, the primary folding strip 6a is cut by the cutting device 19 at the horizontal imposition line 8b of the second row, fourth row and sixth row, and three signatures 6c. Form. The three signatures 6c have imposition prints 8 for a total of 48 pages, and the three signatures 6c are stacked to form a collated stacking signature 6d.

A plurality of units of double-sided imposition printing 8 obtained from the second plate cylinder 7 are provided on the six stacked signatures 2d of the double-sided imposition printing 4 having a basic page number of 192 pages obtained from the first plate cylinder 3. Among them, the two stacked signatures 6d of the double-sided imprint 8 having an increased number of pages of 32 pages are collated to make the number of pages of 224 pages.

Alternatively, a plurality of units of double-sided imposition printing 8 obtained from the second plate cylinder 7 are provided on the six stacked signatures 2d of the double-sided imposition printing 4 having a basic page number of 192 pages obtained from the first plate cylinder 3. Among them, the three integrated signatures 6d of the double-sided imprint 8 having an increased number of pages of 48 pages are collated to obtain a page number of 240 pages.

<Example shown in FIGS. 5 to 7>
5 to 7 show an embodiment in which a booklet of 256 pages is formed by adding 64 pages to the basic page number of 192 pages. This embodiment can be applied to a booklet of 288 pages by adding 96 additional pages to the basic number of 192 pages.

The configuration and operation of the first bookbinding line starting from the first base paper roll 1 shown in FIG. 5 are the same as the configuration and operation of the first bookbinding line shown in FIG. Therefore, the above description related to this is incorporated, and details are omitted.

Hereinafter, the configuration and operation of the second binding line will be described.
As described above, the first plate cylinder 3 of the double-sided printing machine constituting the first bookbinding line and the second plate cylinder 7 of the double-sided printing machine constituting the second bookbinding line have the same circumferential length. Use those with the same diameter.

The width W2 of the strip 6 of the second base roll 5 is equal to the width W1 of the strip 2 of the first base roll 1.

As shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6A, when performing bookbinding of 256 pages by adding 64 pages to 192 pages, double-sided imposition printing 8 having an increased number of pages of 64 pages is used as one unit, Three units of imposition printing 8 are applied.

In other words, imposition printing 8 of 8 rows and 12 columns (96 pages in total) is applied on one side of the strip 6 in vertical and horizontal alignment, and 8 pages in a row and 12 pages in a column (96 pages in total) are provided on the other side. Imposition printing 8 is performed in a vertical and horizontal alignment.

When bookbinding is performed on 256 pages by adding 64 pages to page 192, three units of imposition printing 8 divided by the horizontal imposition lines 8b 'for every four columns in the imposition printing 8 are formed. The three units of imposition printing 8 have the same contents, and one unit of imposition printing 8 forms two signatures 6c.

In addition, when 96 pages are added to 192 pages and bookbinding is performed on 288 pages, the pages are divided by horizontal imposition lines 8b "every six columns in the imposition printing 8, that is, the central horizontal imposition lines 8b". Two-unit imposition printing 8 is formed. The two units of imposition printing 8 have the same contents, and one unit of imposition printing 8 forms three signatures 6c.

As described above, in both cases of bookbinding on pages 256 and 288, the first plate cylinder 3 and the second plate cylinder 7 have the same circumference, and the width of the strip 6 of the second base paper roll 5 is the same. W2 is equal in width to the width W1 of the strip 2 of the first base paper roll 1.

Therefore, the imposition length W3 of the double-sided imprint 4 printed on the first plate cylinder 3 (dimension in the belt running direction) and three units printed on the second plate cylinder 7 (in the case of 256 pages) or two units ( The imposition length W4 of the double-sided imposition print 8 (in the case of 288 pages) is the same length as the imposition length W4 (dimension in the belt running direction), The imposition width W2 ′ of the three- or two-unit double-sided imprinting 8 printed on the second plate cylinder 7 is equal to the dimension W1 ′ in the direction orthogonal to the belt running direction.

When a booklet of 256 pages is formed by adding 64 pages to 192 pages, as shown in FIG. 8A, the first plate cylinder 3 of the first bookbinding line has a double-sided imposition of 192 pages all around 360 degrees.

When 96 pages are added to 192 pages to form a booklet of 288 pages, as shown in FIG.

When the booklet of 256 pages is bound, the rotational speed S2 of the second plate cylinder 7 with respect to the rotational speed S1 of the first plate cylinder 3 is set to S2 = S1 ÷ 3 (double-side imposition printing unit number). The timing for accumulating the integrated signature 6d of each unit double-sided imprinting 8 having an increased number of pages is set for the integrated signature 2d of double-sided imposition printing 4 having the basic number of pages.

In other words, when a booklet of 256 pages is bound, the supply speed of the second base paper roll 5 is reduced to one third with respect to the supply speed of the first base paper roll 1, and the rotation of the first plate cylinder 3 is similarly performed.

3F and 3G formed on the first bookbinding line and the two integrated signatures 6d shown in FIGS. 7F and 7G formed on the second bookbinding line. Synchronize with the supply speed.

When the booklet of 288 pages is bound, the rotation speed S2 of the second plate cylinder 7 with respect to the rotation speed S1 of the first plate cylinder 3 is set to S2 = S1 ÷ 2 (number of double-sided imprinting printing units).

5 and FIG. 7B, the strip 6 subjected to double-sided printing on page 192 is slit by the slitter 20 on the center imposition line 8c in the column direction (band traveling direction). The print 8 is divided into two equal parts to form a two-piece half-cut strip 6 'having a half-page imposition print 8a of 96 pages.

Next, as shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 7C, each of the half-cut strips 6 'imprinted by the second bookbinding line is used on the central folding line in the strip running direction using the known triangular folding plate 17, that is, Folded in half on the longitudinal center imposition line 8d of each double-sided imposition printing 8a to form a primary folded strip 6a '.

Next, as shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 7D, the above-mentioned primary folding strip 6a 'is used on the central folding line in the running direction of the primary folding strip 6a', that is, the double-fold double-sided imprint 8a '. The sheet is further folded in half on the longitudinal imposition line 8e to form a secondary folded band 6b.

As shown in FIGS. 5, 7E and F, when a booklet of 256 pages is bound, the primary folded strip 6a 'is cut by the cutting device 19 at the horizontal imposition line 8b in the second and fourth rows. Then, two signatures 6c are formed. The two signatures 6c have imposition prints 8 for a total of 64 pages, and as shown in FIG. 7G, the two signatures 6c are stacked to form an integrated signature 6d. .

When binding a book of 288 pages, the primary folding strip 6a is cut by the cutting device 19 at the horizontal imposition line 8b of the second row, fourth row and sixth row, and three signatures 6c. Form. The three signatures 6c have imposition printing 8 for 96 pages in total, and the three signatures 6c are accumulated to form an accumulated signature 6d.

A plurality of units of double-sided imposition printing 8 obtained from the second plate cylinder 7 are provided on the six stacked signatures 2d of the double-sided imposition printing 4 having a basic page number of 192 pages obtained from the first plate cylinder 3. Among them, the two integrated signatures 6d of the double-sided imprint 8 having an increased number of pages of 64 pages are collated to make the number of pages of 256 pages.

Alternatively, a plurality of units of double-sided imposition printing 8 obtained from the second plate cylinder 7 are provided on the six stacked signatures 2d of the double-sided imposition printing 4 having a basic page number of 192 pages obtained from the first plate cylinder 3. Among them, the three integrated signatures 6d of the double-sided imprint 8 having an increased number of pages of 96 pages are collated to obtain a page number of 288 pages.
